For Long Player this week, Elle chats to JessB about her new album, 'Matters of the Heart'
Ngā mihi nui NZ On Air Music!
This week elle speaks to Achtung! about their debut album 'Spear in Fine View'. The album commemorates the tumultous haze of young adulthood, with each track exploding through characteristic post-punk, emo guitar. Written over the course of three years, the songs act as 'diary entries' of particular periods in the band's life. Moments that are immortalised in intricate metaphor and cathartically felt through their thrashing melodies.
How can you not love a band that references King Krule and Sally Rooney in the same breath?
A big thank you to NZ On Air Music!

For Long Player this week, Joel chats to Reb Fountain about her latest album, 'Water for Gasoline'.

Elle speaks to Hannah Everingham for Long Player this week. Big Surprise, Everingham’s reflective third album, interlaces vulnerable narrative threads between pattering percussion and fluid acoustic melodies.
The album elucidates human emotion and complexity through a long existential drive, images of flowers on a kitchen counter, an acceptance of the permanence of change, and becoming Judi Dench. Her lyricism captures the hope and spirit of what is to come after the war (a tormenting relationship).
I am unable to capture the brilliance of the album in 76 words, so you should grab a copy from bandcamp!

Elle spoke to Romi Wrights and Kenny Sterling, about their debut album Andy. Dedicated to the life of Romi’s close friend Andrea Orani, the album ruminates on the permanence of her loss and lovingly embraces their relationship and the time they shared. Imbued with Andy’s spirit, the album shimmers amongst the broad piano, woodwind and strings which cascade from track-to-track.
Embedded within Romi’s quintessential soul and jazz-fusion band, her voice unabashedly tells the universally felt narrative of love and heartbreak. It’s truly music that uplifts, inspires and just might make you cry.
You can find Andy on bandcamp.
