Paramedicine offers an exciting and challenging career within the Emergency Medical Services field. Paramedics are vital members of the quick-response healthcare team, providing an advanced level of care in the pre-hospital environment under the direction of a physician. The Dental Assisting curriculum at Chattahoochee Tech prepares individuals to assist the dentist in the delivery of dental treatment and to function as an integral member of the dental team while performing chair-side and laboratory procedures as well as related office tasks. Dental Assistants work alongside dentists, hygienists, and patients delivering a multitude of healthcare services. The goal of the Paralegal Studies Program is to train students in legal theory, analytical, communication and adaptation of skills. Surgical Technologists play a key role, under medical supervision, in a variety of surgical settings, ensuring that each surgery runs safely, effectively, and hygienically. A clinical rotation at a hospital is a vital part of the Surgical Technology students’ educational experience. Surgical Technology graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification examination. Physical Therapist Assistants provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Employing the knowledge of the patient’s condition, the PTA performs hands-on treatments utilizing therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, pain relieving modalities and other functional activities. A PTA must use critical thinking and problem solving skills on a daily basis to treat a variety of patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Physical Therapist Assistant occupational courses will be completed in four (4) semesters. Occupational Therapy Assistants work under the direction of occupational therapists to help rehabilitate patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). They help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. Common occupational therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, helping people who are recovering from injuries to regain necessary skills, and providing support for older adults who are experiencing physical or cognitive changes. Occupational Therapy Assistant occupational courses will be completed in four and a half (4.5) semesters. Paralegals are trained to assist lawyers by researching legal precedent, investigating facts or preparing legal documents. They also conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action. Paralegals must be able to document and present their findings and opinions to their supervising attorney. They need to understand legal terminology and have good research and investigative skills. Familiarity with the operation and applications of computers in legal research and litigation support also is important. The Dual Enrollment program at Chattahoochee Technical College provides an opportunity for students to dual enroll at a participating eligible public or private high school, or home school program in Georgia, and the College.
