We explored the life cycle and behavior of the Queens County Farm’s free-range heritage breed hens. We explored the details of embryology in connection to our own duck embryology study in K-205.
The NYBG is an outdoor, active learning environment. At the Louise and Henry Loeb School for Children’s Gardening at The Edible Academy, we learned to garden as we engaged in activities for growing healthful food outdoors. From sowing seeds to watering and harvesting, gardening and cooking !

K-205 went on an egg word hunt. Each child found one egg with a piece of paper with one word, in various colors. Teams met depending on word color : red, blue, yellow and green. They put the words together to form a sentence that made sense. Each sentence formed a phrase that revealed our upcoming duck study !

Artist's Creative Choices
What kinds of choices do artists make? After examining the role of choice-making during a gallery tour, we made our own artistic decisions in the studio. Using creative thinking and problem-solving, we constructed compositions inspired by artworks on view.
