This episode of A Good Walk Spoiled merges golf and Phish. We welcome guest, Jonathan Bogush, to the show and he shares stories across his 354 phish shows, and countless rounds of golf. As a former college golfer and avid Phish fan, it was only natural that he eventually brought his two passions together and started tossing his golf clubs in the trunk when he set out on countless Phish tours over the years. In the episode, we talk about his first show in New Brunswick, NJ which opened with an epic Buried Alive back in 1993, we touch on his experiences seeing the Grateful Dead, then talk about how he came up with the idea to host a major golf outing for nearly 200 Phishheads during a three-night run at Atlantic City at the legendary Donald Ross designed Seaview Golf Club Bay course. Jonathan also shares how Phish shows at Hollywood Bowl led him to the opportunity to play the exclusive Bel-Air Country Club, considered one of the nation's top golf courses. We wrap up the episode with our "Chips, Bites, and Flights" segment traveling to Seaview Golf Club and Atlantic City, which is a natural way to wrap up this epic episode. Tune in, drop out, and join us for a great conversation and guide to this LPGA tour stop in Galloway, New Jersey on the outskirts of Atlantic City. Welcome to "A Good Walk Spoiled," the podcast where we explore the intersection of golf, golf history, gastronomy, and travel. In this episode, we do a recap on The Masters, then later embark on a golfing adventure to the breathtaking Chambers Bay Golf Course in Washington State. Join us as we tee off on the rugged links-style layout, designed by renowned architects Robert Trent Jones Jr., Jay Blasi, and Bruce Charlton, and uncover the rich history of this iconic course, from hosting the U.S. Open Championship to Jordan Spieth's unforgettable victory in 2015. We delve into the storied histories of the R&A and the USGA, the two primary governing bodies of golf. From their humble beginnings to their pivotal roles in shaping the modern game, we explore how these organizations have influenced everything from equipment regulations to major championship venues. From disputes over equipment regulations to debates about ball distance and player eligibility, we examine the tensions and disagreements that have shaped the relationship between the R&A and the USGA over the years. And speaking of controversies, we can't ignore the recent upheaval caused by LIV Golf (formerly known as the Super Golf League). A Good Walk Spoiled: A Golf Podcast by Scott Poniewaz (@Pony_Golf)   Hello and welcome to our inaugural and pilot episode of A Good Walk Spoiled, a generally entertaining podcast on golf, travel, life, and splashes of history, architecture, interviews, and more. Hosted by myself, Scott Poniewaz, also known as @Pony_Golf on social media, I look forward to bringing you along on some of the journeys that all golfers will enjoy and welcome your feedback every step of the way!   Today, we’ve got Augusta just around the corner, so it only makes sense that we kick off our first episode discussing what I consider to be the finest event in sports. The Masters. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself at the Masters, then you’ll want to know the history. And although it has been a while since my only visit to the 2012 Masters practice round as a patron, here are a few tips to make the most of your day. Part two of this episode digs into some interesting facts and trivia tidbits about Augusta National Golf Club, The Masters, and some of the stories of how Augusta came to be. Last we close out the episode with our Chips, Bites & Flights segment… Those that follow me on Instagram may have seen a post about Sushi by Bou a couple years ago where I joked I would start a travel show called chips, bites, and flights… Well, here we are! Though it isn’t the full show, it will be a regular feature highlighting golf courses and destinations, with a few tips and ideas for getting there, staying, and enjoying the food along the way. As a foodie and golfer, I can’t help but highlight both! We’re going to kick it off with Pasatiempo near Santa Cruz, California. A Dr. Alister MacKenzie masterpiece considered by many to be the finest semi-public course people can play in the United States. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
