This week I have two wonderful guests, Sam and Tyler from A+ Adventuring, who talk about playing their own game of Pathfinder second edition! We talk about mechanic changes, improvements from the original pathfinder, and how they are enjoying it as an rpg system! Hope you enjoy! Find A+ Adventuring here! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-adventuring/id1524511201
This week, Jackson and I discuss the pros and cons of creating lengthy, novel-esque backstories vs generic backstories that allow for more discovery of the character through gameplay. Which is better? Which is worse? Are we qualified to answer that question? Eh, maybe? Join us as we use examples from our current campaigns as well as previously made characters to explain the burden of responsibility for back story and the creation of metaphorical twistable knives. The 3rd best kind of knife! If you'd like to listen to the podcast we stole Jackson from, "I can't Stop Talking", you can find it here! https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/i-cant-stop-talking-i-cant-stop-talking-1Ustnq7h2Dy/
This week, I talk about the rule of cool. Do you ever have bland moments in your games? Do you suffer from your game being nothing but an execution of the rules set before you? You might be suffering from a lack of rule of cool! In this episode I give examples of how the rule of cool should and shouldn’t be used for the most fun at your table, but also maybe your table is cooler than mine! Remember, all rules, including the rule of cool, are more like a set of guidelines, so be as cool or as uncool as you like! Hope you enjoy!
This week, Zach and Alan talk about people putting wrenches in our bones! Apparently, that can be a good thing! But moreso, we talk about planning for your players, making sure that everyone, including the DM! Is having fun at the table, and just generally what we like when we write stories for the adventurers in our worlds! So sit back, relax, grab your favorite wrench, and throw it at your nearest podcaster! Wait I don’t know If I’m legally allowed to say that. Okay for legal reasons, that’s a joke. Hope you Enjoy!
This week we return to telling our story of the first quote “Season” of our Levitica campaign, and we describe to you a mech battle with fire, magic, valor, and…… evil dictator Jelly? Huh, weird. Either way! If you haven’t heard part 1, I highly suggest you go back and listen to episode 11, as thats where we start this story. Otherwise, lets get on with the show! Hope you enjoy!
This week, Bonk is Back! And we are flying through an interdimensional void destined for YOUR EARS! To get there, our episode will be fueled by Brooke and Alan talking about their favorite one shots, how to make one shots cool, and other fun things! Hope you survive the journey! I mean… what?
This week signifies the exalted return of the overlord after his long and arduous campaign against the heretical pocket dimension ‘freedom fighters’. But never mind all that, Zach’s not a war criminal, and this episode we’re discussing an upcoming book, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything! We talk through some of the changes and adaptations WotC is introducing with this new supplement as well as discussing new additions and content ports from 3.5! This isn’t an alibi and Zach’s definitely not exploiting a loophole in the laws of spacetime to be in more than one place at a time right now! Also, no need to look at Alpha Centauri this weekend! If you saw anything, it would instantly erase your existence anyways!
This week we talk about DM and Player Pivot. Have you ever had an encounter not live up to the standards you were expecting? Ever have a character that sticks out like a sore thumb in a party? In this episode we talk about how it is GOOD to change sometimes! Hope you enjoy!
This is a bonus episode referenced in Episode 11. If you haven't listened to that one first, go there now! and then come back! Also, here is the Elemental Wyvern Generator Referenced in this Episode!
This week I had surgery, and, it was a difficult episode to edit. On the bright side, that somehow means you get the normal episode and a bonus episode this week, but at the cost of them being a day late. Who knew we could talk about DnD so long that it would need to be broken down into two episodes?? Who knew that having surgery could make me feel like crud? Somebody should have warned me, and whoever that is, I will never forgive you. Until I forget I am mad. What am I mad at again? Oh well, Hope you enjoy!  Also! Here is the Elemental Wyvern Generator!
This week my good friend Bonk and I will be talking about our experiences with Baldur's Gate 3, a new early access dnd 5e based game created by the Larion Game Company! And no, Bonk isn't an eldritch being mind controlling me to say all of this. Eldritch beings definitely aren't real, and definitely aren't trying to take over the earth. Sorry for the delay on this episode, the one we recorded for this week just wasn't up to snuff. So, we recorded a whole new one just for you! You are required to appreciate us now. Thank you. OR ELSE.
Ever Had trouble getting into character in DnD? In this mini episode, It's all Alan, and it's all about getting into character! Alan talks about his experiences with having trouble getting into character and how he finds new ways to help people overcome that hurdle! Unfortunately, Zach writes all the funny notes so you will just have to deal with the fact that this paragraph takes too long to describe that Zach didn’t write this. Is meta humour still funny? Who knows.
This week a new challenger approaches! Zach and I have our Friend Austin on to talk about Worldbuilding and what ways we evolve the lore of our individual games. Which one of us has sold our soul to the gods of story and song just to make game nights feel slightly less corny? All this and more!

7-Pacing and Exposition

This week Barry is back from his shadow crusade, and instead of hacking and slashing his way through an oppressive authoritarian regime, he’s hacking and slashing through the difficulty of Lore dumps! Which is a more difficult task? You decide! Sadly, Barry accidentally incapacitated Zach with all the hacking and slashing, so he isn’t here this week, but he will be back soon! Or will he? MWAHAHAHAHA
6-Interdimensional Q&A

6-Interdimensional Q&A

2020-09-1601:02:00

This week Zach and Alan are joined by their aberrant friend Neomnithul to answer some questions submitted by fans from all over the interdimensional commonwealth. Also, one of them came in some kind of flesh blimp covered in spiracles which is… still hovering… in my living room… Buckle in for some laughs while we say the word “um” a prime number of times throughout an hour long conversation! Hope you enjoy!
We’re back again, and this time we discuss the logistics of running a game of D&D. This includes clarifying player and DM expectations, puzzling through the nature of ongoing problems, and working through conflicts of interest. Sit back, grab a nice glass of malted cheeto powder and your favorite Macedonian effigy, and meticulously transcribe this entire podcast into the demonic language of your choice! For relaxation! And if you have any questions or comments, you can just feed em to the donkey.
4-Homebrew and You!

4-Homebrew and You!

2020-09-0201:44:01

With this episode, we get into the nitty gritty of homebrew with a friend of ours, who recently escaped the shadow of a violent dictator and thus will not be using his real name! Just kidding, it’s everyone’s favorite cryptid Jerry! In this podcast, we discuss the what, when, and how of creating homebrew, as well as some of the resources available for creating and implementing homebrew in your games. We also discuss player-created resources and their impact on player involvement. We hope you enjoy listening this week, and if not, go pet some goats!
Today, we are going to get a little more serious than our last few episodes, sorry! In this episode, Zach and I reminisce about some of the hardest times we have ever had in DnD, and how the game has allowed us to look at real life problems through the more safe, but sometimes still difficult, lens of Roleplay Games. We like getting to the point of talking about what we have gained from it all, but today is about looking at the hardship that got us there, so as a quick aside, there is a minor content warning for the latter half of the podcast. We discuss topics such as self harm, Mental dissociation, and there are some Discussions of Grotesque violence, and we will let you know again at that point in the show. Seriously though, I think this one is my favorite yet, so please stick around!
Have you been struck with the necessity to play Tabletop RPGS, only to realize that a deadly virus exists that you don’t want to catch? How will you ever get your much needed fix?? How do you make that transition to online play?? In this episode we talk about how we have migrated to online play, and some tips and tricks that may help you get that ever needed RPG fix.
