Gail was diagnosed with early-onset dementia at just 54 years old.
After months of tests, she was told she may have only six or seven “good years”. But years later, Gail is still living life, finding new passions, spending time outdoors, painting, taking photographs and speaking openly about what dementia really looks like.
In this ride, Gail talks about the moment she realised something was wrong, the impact of her diagnosis on her family, the lack of support she experienced, and why she now says that, in some ways, dementia has changed her life for the better.
She also shares why she refuses to write a bucket list, what she wants her grandchildren to remember, and the piece of wisdom she wants to leave behind.

Rick Wakeman joins A Lifetime of Wisdom for a trishaw ride and a conversation about his extraordinary life in music, family and the lessons he’s learned along the way.
At 77, the Yes keyboardist and solo artist still has plenty he wants to do. With his unmistakable humour, Rick shares stories from Never Mind the Buzzcocks, his friendship with Norman Wisdom and the early recording session he thought had ruined his chances.
We also explore the advice his dad gave him, what a 16-year-old fan taught him about his own music, and who he would choose to play alongside just one more time.

What really matters after 93 years of life? Sparkly Margaret joins us for a ride and an honest conversation about childhood, marriage, family and finding happiness through difficult times.
Born in Fleetwood in 1933, Margaret remembers carrying a gas mask to school, sheltering during air raids and growing up with wartime rationing. She shares stories of making fishing nets for local trawlers, meeting her husband Stan on a date neither of them was initially happy about, and raising a family.
We talk about the lessons she’s carried through her life, how she approaches regrets, and what keeps her feeling young at heart. There’s also a special moment when the conversation turns to her lifelong love of singing.
On Saturday, Bobby Rimmer was in Ricky Hatton’s corner. By Wednesday, he was in prison. What followed is a story of second chances, loyalty and finding a different way to follow your dream.
In this episode of A Lifetime of Wisdom, we take boxing coach Bobby Rimmer out for a ride to hear about his journey from Beswick in Manchester to training Ricky Hatton, Rampage Jackson and Brian Rose, and working at the Mike Tyson boxing gym in Saudi Arabia.
Bobby shares what happened when Ricky visited him in Strangeways, the wake-up call that led to 17 years without alcohol, and why Brian Rose became like a son to him. He also recalls the emotional moment he knew he had to stop Brian’s final fight.
