A Priest’s Life: Interviews with the Rev. Greg Tallant

Greg sits down with his fellow Revs. to discuss the life.

A Lover of Words

The Rev. Dennis Patterson is priest in charge of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Dennis came to the Episcopal Church from the AME Church in Norfolk, Virginia by way of Union Seminary in NYC. Dennis talks about how different aspects of his priesthood need to mesh internally even if they look disparate from the outside. He talks about being a lover of words, about what its like to be the only black person in a room and how you get comfortable in that space. Dennis’ sermon on the Prodigal Son was one of the best I heard on my sabbatical so I was thrilled he made time to sit down with me.

Growing Where You’re Planted (If You’re Not Too High Maintenance)

Greg sits down with the Revs. Sarah Fisher and Mandy Brady, two priests who also have been married to one another for several years.  Priests married to one another are more common than you’d think, and today Mandy and Sarah talk about their journeys from Athens to Iceland, about blooming where you’re planting if you’re not too high maintenance, and about why their answers on the pop quiz were a little too similar.
