Description

For years, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t hold on to anything,
and I’m not just talking about my belongings.
Jobs slipped through my fingers.
Relationships faded.
Money disappeared faster than I could make it.

So I ran, around the world, trying to be everything and everyone:
the party girl, the housewife, the rebel, the addict, the yogi,
in the hope that something, anything, would finally fix me.

But none of it worked.
Because I wasn’t broken.
I just didn’t understand my brain.

Welcome to ADHD Untangled, the podcast where we stop trying to fit into boxes that were never made for us.
This is your space to understand your ADHD, untangle the chaos, and start living in a way that finally feels like you.

I’m Rosie Turner, ADHD coach, trainer, yoga and Pilates instructor, and founder of The ADHD Movement.
Getting diagnosed later in life helped me see that my so-called flaws were never the problem. I just needed the right tools and understanding.

Now, I help others do the same.
Each week, you’ll hear powerful stories, real conversations, and expert insights to help you turn your struggles into strengths and your self-doubt into self-belief.

Because when you understand your brain, everything changes.

So, if you’re ready to drop the mask and live unapologetically,
let’s get untangled and show the world what we’re made of. 🧡

If you have ever watched your child come home shattered by another school day, sat in a meeting being told there is “nothing more we can do”, felt torn between hating the “ADHD” label and needing the support… then this episode is for you. This week, we’re joined by someone who has been around ADHD Untangled since the very beginning. A friend, a big thinker and a man who has poured his life into changing the story for neurodivergent kids and families: Wynford Dore.On paper, Wynford is the founder of Zing, the owner of private schools and someone who has spent millions researching the brain. But his story starts at home, with his daughter Susie.Susie was diagnosed as severely dyslexic around the age of nine. The message the family got was basically, this is just how it is. As she grew up, the struggle did not stay in the classroom. It crept into her confidence, her mental health and her sense of self. She became so depressed and hopeless that she tried to take her own life, more than once.Wynford reached the point many parents know too well. Watching his child suffer hurt more than anything else, and “nothing we can do” was not an acceptable answer. So he did what most people only dream of.He sold his successful business. He poured his time, energy and money into finding a different way to help kids like Susie. That work became the brain development programmes he runs today, helping children, adults and high performers all over the world reset how their brain works and rediscover confidence.Recently, Wynford lost Susie. After everything they went through and everything their story has changed for others, he now carries that grief as well. Yet he is still here, still doing this work, still fighting so fewer families have to go through what they did.And he believes, very strongly, that the word ADHD itself has become an insult. Not because there is anything wrong with the people who receive that label. But because of the shame and misunderstanding that have been attached to it.Together we untangle:🧠 How labels like ADHD and dyslexia shape confidence, behaviour and self worth at school 🔁 What Wynford’s work shows about neuroplasticity and why the brain can change more than most of us were told 🗣 What to actually say when your child feels stupid, broken or left behind 🚪 How parents and teachers can respond when the system says “nothing more we can do”, and why that sentence is not the end of the road 🌱 Simple, real life ways to start rebuilding hope and meaning again, even after years of failed support or school traumaWynford brings decades of experience in brain development and working with children, families and high performers. I bring the tangled ADHD heart, the coaching room stories and my own belief that ADHD can be both struggle and strength. This one is tender, honest and at times emotional. It is for:💭 Parents who are scared their child will never believe in themselves 📚 Teachers and school staff who know the system is failing kids and want to do better 🧡 ADHDers who have felt humiliated by their label, yet also suspect there is real strength in the way their brain worksIf you have spent years feeling like the label ADHD is a life sentence, or feeling like you have to pretend it is all positive in order to be accepted, I want this episode to feel like a deep breath for your nervous system. You are allowed to hold both. You are allowed to grieve the struggle and still build a life that feels meaningful and yours.Let’s get untangled and show the world what we are made of. 🧡💡 Want to dive deeper? 🧡 Join the free Untangled Community → click here🎓 Become an ADHD-Informed Coach → click here 🧘 Retreats → click here ✨ Follow us → @adhd_untangledLots of love and strength, Rosie 🧡🖤
Have you ever wondered…Why you keep chasing intense, slightly toxic love and then get bored when things finally feel calm?If it is actually love at first sight or just your dopamine having a field day?If you are simply “too much” for love altogether?Whether even penguins are as faithful as we were told at school, or if they are out there mixing it up too?Same. If you have ever cried over someone you knew was wrong for you, felt like rejection might actually break you, or tried to turn yourself down to be “easier” to love, this episode is for you. This week I am joined by Oxford-trained evolutionary anthropologist and real-life love scientist, Dr Anna Machin. Yes, that Dr Anna from Diary of a CEO. Together we untangle the messy, addictive, beautiful world of love through the lens of ADHD.From the very first minute we go straight into the questions you secretly Google at 1am:❤️ Is this love or just dopamine? 🚩 Why do I fall for red flags then get bored when things are calm? 🤯 Am I actually “too much” for love? 🐧 And if even penguins are at it, is anyone really built for lifelong monogamy?Dr Anna brings the science. I bring the tangled ADHD heart. Together we untangle:🧠 Why ADHD brains crave intensity and the high of early chemistry💞 Why “love at first sight” is a myth and what your brain is really doing💔 Rejection sensitivity, heartbreak withdrawal and why it hurts so much📱 Dating apps, overstimulation and why they fry your brain🐧 What penguins, cheating and monogamy can actually teach us about real connectionThis one is tender, funny in places and very real. It is for anyone who has ever been told they are too intense, too emotional, too dramatic or just a bit too much.If you have spent years trying to be smaller, quieter or easier to love, I want this episode to feel like a deep breath for your nervous system. You are not too much. You simply have a brain and a heart that work differently, and you deserve relationships that get that.Let’s get untangled and show the world what we are made of. 🧡💡 Want to dive deeper?🧡 Join the free Untangled Community → click here🎓 Become an ADHD Coach → click here🧘 Retreats → click here✨ Follow us → @adhd_untangledLots of love and strength,Rosie 🧡🖤
If your brain is telling you one thing (“be good, eat clean, regulate”) but your body is quietly raiding the cupboards at 10pm, this episode will make you feel wildly seen. This week, we’re going back in time to our ADHD Untangled Live Event with everyone’s favourite go to dancing neuroscientist, Dr Miguel Mateas, to talk about something we don’t get taught enough about: the gut-brain connection in ADHD.Because so many of us have been told our eating is about willpower. Dr Miguel is here to say: it’s about regulation.Your gut, your microbes, your sleep, your nervous system - they’re all talking to your ADHD brain. We get into why bingeing shows up, why restriction makes it worse, why late diagnosis, trauma, and ADHD results in more vulnerability to disordered eating, and how to rebuild trust with your body without 57 food rules. 🧠 What we’re Untangling:🌀 How ADHD, trauma and disordered eating overlap🥗 Why we use food to self-regulate (and why that’s not “weakness”)🦠 What the gut-brain axis actually is - in normal human language🛏 The one habit that helps your gut and your hunger cues more than any diet🫂 How connection, touch and movement regulate the nervous system too🚫 Artificial dyes, alcohol and “is this actually making ADHD worse?”🍰 Why food is love - and why we keep denying ourselves it💫 Why listen:Because when you understand your biology, you stop blaming your personality. This conversation will help you work with your ADHD body, not against it - so meals feel calmer, binges feel less shameful, and you remember you’re not broken, you’re sensitive.🧡 Join the free Untangled Community → click here🎓ADHD Coach Training → click here🧘Retreats → click here✨ Follow us → @adhd_untangledLet’s get untangled and show the world what we’re made of. 🧡Lots of love & strength,Rosie

Hey Untanglers! This week, I'm so excited to bring SUCH an important topic back to the podcast and one that is rarely talked about: missing periods and how ADHD and lifestyle choices might be playing a bigger role than you’d think... Dr Sykes is an author, scientist, and expert when it comes to understanding hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA). Nicola’s mission, following her own struggle with HA,  is to help people regain their periods, nourish their bodies, and ditch the stress-filled culture of over-exercising and under-eating.We’ll talk about:How ADHD’s intensity can fuel disordered eating and extreme behavioursThe link between HA, stress, and that sneaky cortisol…Why “fueling your body” isn’t just a catchphrase - it’s the game changer you need.Nicola’s practical tips for getting untangled and healthy again (hint: carbs are your friend ).The emotional rollercoaster of recovery, self-acceptance, and… dating while healing. This is a very raw and real episode for both me and Nicola as we share our personal struggles, as well as the laughs, revelations, and “a-ha!” moments we had throughout. If you’ve ever felt lost in a sea of diet culture, or wondered if stress and ADHD are affecting your wellbeing, this episode might just be the missing piece which makes the full picture make sense… So listen in and let’s get untangled and show the world what we’re made of!You can find out more about Dr Sykes work, including her book, support groups and consultations through her website.ADHD COACHING IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO! In today's ADHD Rewind I'm re-Introducing our extraordinary guest, a figure I've eagerly awaited on this podcast since it began—a true hero in my eyes.Ladies and gentlemen, please join us in welcoming the remarkable Professor James Brown! Not only is Professor James Brown one of the esteemed hosts of the ADHD Adults podcast, but he also wears the hat of a charity owner and is the proud spouse of a previous ADHD Untangled guest, the incredible Mrs. ADHD.With over two decades of dedicated research into the intricate world of hormones, James is a true authority on the subject. Given some recent personal challenges I've faced and the shared struggles of our friends and clients, it was imperative that we tapped into his wealth of knowledge. Engaging in a conversation about hormones was genuinely enlightening, and James's passion for the topic was evident throughout our discussion.A profound revelation for me was discovering that hormones play a pivotal role in virtually every aspect of our lives. This episode offered me reassurance in understanding that the ebb and flow of emotions and experiences, whether throughout the month or our life journey, is perfectly normal. It's not merely us feeling like we're on an emotional rollercoaster; hormones are at the heart of this intricate process.Get the tissues out as this  episode is a tear jerker as James shares honestly and openly  about his own struggles and strengths with ADHD,  sharing his passion and determination for helping others through his podcast. It was an absolute honour and pleasure to interview James and was extremely comforting to know that YES hormones affect every aspect of your life and solidifies the notion that it is OK not to feel OK sometimes!I really hope that you enjoy this one and fall in love with the absolutely amazing Professor James Brown! Podcast Website: Visit us at theadhdadults.uk Social Media: Follow us @theadhdadults Charity Website: Explore more about our charity at adhdadult.uk Charity's Social Media: Connect with us @adhdadultuk Let's get Untangled and show the world what we are made of! 🧡ADHD COACHING IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO! Is ADHD medication right for me?Do I have to take it every single day?Am I a failure if I decide to stop? These are the questions so many of us quietly carry around — and in this episode, I sit down with Joseph Pack, founder of Drug Free ADHD, to bring them out into the open.Together, we untangle:🧡 The hidden risks of long-term medication — from sleep disruption to chronic illness.🧡 The shame stories around starting, stopping, or changing meds (and why none of it means failure).🧡 Heart rate variability (HRV) as a simple way to see how your body is really coping.🧡 Why “one-size-fits-all” ADHD care is dangerous — and what a personalised approach can look like.🧡 The power of lived experience over textbook answers — and why sometimes, you’ve just got to “make it exist first.”This isn’t about being pro- or anti-medication. It’s about real talk, no judgement, and giving you the knowledge and permission to make informed choices that actually work for your life.Follow Joseph here:✨ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/josephpackcom✨ Website: https://www.drugfreeadhd.com/Let’s get untangled and show the world what we’re made of 🧡ADHD COACHING IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO! ADHD and yoga my two favourite subjects. And this week, I get to speak to one of my yoga heroes: Dianne Bondy social justice activist, author, accessible yoga teacher and founder of the Yoga For All movement.Dianne is revolutionising yoga by making it genuinely inclusive and welcoming everyone, regardless of size, shape, background, or ability. As a yoga teacher with ADHD, she shares how her practice helps manage ADHD symptoms, regulate her nervous system, and create moments of stillness in a fast-moving brain. In this episode, we explore: 🧡 Yoga as a powerful tool for ADHD focus and emotional regulation 🧡 Leading and teaching with a neurodivergent brain 🧡 Designing inclusive wellness spaces where every body and mind belongsThis conversation couldn’t be more aligned with my own mission. It’s exactly why I created the ADHD Yoga Foundation Training to support teachers in breaking barriers and building spaces where ADHD and neurodivergent students feel seen, safe, and included.Dianne’s story is a reminder that ADHD brains deserve tools that honour how we experience the world and yoga can be one of the most transformative of those tools.Follow Dianne:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/diannebondyyogaofficialLet's get untangled and show the world what we're made of! 🧡ADHD COACHING IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO! What if the very thing you thought would end you became the reason you’re still here? This episode reminded me of the original why behind this podcast.ADHD Untangled was created to give hope. To empower. To prove that the very struggle that once made us feel broken can become our greatest strength. To reach the ones who are still in the middle of it — in the thick of addiction, shame, self-destruction — and remind them that it’s not too late. You are not too far gone.In this powerful conversation, I sit down with writer, activist and adventurer Kit Birks just days before she sets off to walk the entire length of Europe solo. Her mission? To raise awareness around suicide, ADHD and the stories we’re told to keep silent about.Kit shares her raw and honest story — from battling depression, eating disorders and addiction, to getting diagnosed with ADHD in recovery and finally realising she wasn’t broken, just misunderstood. We explore the link between dopamine and destruction, how masking and emotional pain lead us into addiction, and how movement, nature and meaning can help us come back home to ourselves. This one is deep, real and needed.🧠 In this episode we cover:ADHD, addiction and the missing dopamine pieceHow emotional dysregulation, masking and shame fuel destructive behavioursThe life-changing power of diagnosis and self-compassionThe recovery process: messy, honest and ongoingUsing movement and nature to reconnect with yourselfKit’s year-long solo walk across Europe for suicide preventionThe stories we carry and why we need to tell them🎧 Listen if:You’ve ever felt broken or like you didn’t belongYou’re navigating addiction, recovery or mental health strugglesYou want to understand the real link between ADHD and self-destructionYou’re ready to hear a story of hope that doesn’t skip the hard parts🧡 Support Kit:Follow @kitbirks on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kitbirksTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kitbirksYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@kitbirksShare your story or donate at www.kitbirks.comPre-order her poetry book Burnt ToastADHD COACHING IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO! Ever felt like you’ve spent your whole life pretending to be someone you’re not… without even realising it?This one’s for you.In today’s episode, we’re diving deep into the masks we wear – the people-pleaser, the overachiever, the chameleon, the ‘good girl’ or ‘good boy’ – all those roles we slip into without meaning to, just to feel safe, accepted, or "normal."But unmasking? That’s a whole other story.Together with Dr. Miguel (our go-to neuroscience and nervous system expert), we get real about the cost of masking, why unmasking isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing, and why it can feel so bloody exhausting trying to “just be yourself” when your nervous system doesn’t feel safe.We explore:The science behind masking, stress, and burnoutWhy unmasking is less about big reveals and more about small, honest stepsThe messiness of identity (and why it's OK to be in-between)ADHD, intuition, and how your body always knows when you're faking itAnd the wild parallels between coming out as neurodivergent and coming out as queerPLUS: a hilarious (and painfully relatable) game of ‘Guess That Mask’ involving marathon medals, thank-you cards, and a very mysterious peach 🍑Whether you're just starting to unmask or you're deep in it, this episode is your reminder: there’s no perfect way to be real. You don’t owe anyone a performance – just your presence.Take an imperfect breath, let the dog off the leash, and come as you are.And untangle ADHD with usADHD COACHING IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO! How many times have you been told to “calm down and take a breath” in the middle of an RSD meltdown? If only it were that simple… or could it be?This episode isn’t about some shiny new trend — it’s about breath. The one thing you carry with you every second of the day — and might just be the most powerful tool you’re not using.I’m joined by Jamie Clements, breathwork coach, founder of The Breath Space, and quite honestly, one of the most authentic voices in the wellness world right now. What I love most about Jamie is that he’s not here to sell you perfection. He’s lived the struggle — from panic attacks and burnout to building a life (and business) rooted in purpose, self-connection and real, grounded service.Together, we untangle: 🌀 Breathwork & ADHD — how simple practices can help with focus, burnout, anxiety, RSD, and that scattered, can’t-stop-won’t-stop feeling 📱 Phone addiction, dopamine, and why society is wired against our nervous systems 🧠 What it really means to live authentically — and how breath helps us come back to who we are ⚠️ Why wellness sometimes misses the mark — and how to do it your way, not the filtered versionIf you’re struggling to show up as yourself, if your nervous system is in overdrive, or if meditation just isn’t your thing… then this one’s for you.Just take an imperfect breath. The kind that’s real, human, and enough.🎧 Tune in. Game over. Done. Can’t feel awake even after a full night’s sleep? If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. In this episode, I’m joined by the brilliant Dr. Miguel Mateas (yes, even on holiday) to untangle what ADHD burnout really looks like. Not the kind of burnout that goes away after a weekend lie-in -  the deep kind that hits after weeks, months, maybe even years of pushing through when your brain’s been screaming for a break. We talk masking, people-pleasing, emotional exhaustion and why so many of us keep missing the signs until it’s too late. Here’s what we cover: 🧠 What ADHD Burnout Feels Like – That mental shutdown, task paralysis, and emotional numbness that hits when your system says enough. 🔬 What’s Actually Happening in the Brain – Miguel breaks down the science behind it. Low dopamine, nervous system stuck on high alert, and the cost of acting ‘normal’. ❤️ Real Recovery – Why “just rest” doesn’t cut it and how unmasking is part of the healing process. 🌱 Bouncing Forward – Not back to the person who pushed too hard, but into something more sustainable and true to you. 🧘‍♀️ Simple Tools That Help – No pressure, no perfection. Just small ways to regulate your system and find your way back to calm. This one’s for anyone who’s burned out from trying to keep up — and blamed themselves for slowing down.🎧 Listen now Let’s get untangled and show the world what we’re made of 🧡🖤ADHD COACHING IT’S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO!
