AI technology has made the search for the perfect job candidate more efficient and convenient for employers. But there isn’t enough attention being paid to what that means for marginalized groups. It’s important to acknowledge and counteract the possibility for bias and discrimination that the algorithm could introduce in the hiring process. Energy use and Emissions are the climate topics of the day. When a machine can perform tasks that normally require humans, and potentially mimic or surpass them, this can be referred to as “artificial” intelligence. But when human ingenuity is applied to AI, it opens up a world of possibilities. This is currently evident in degrading ecosystems, climate change, food insecurity and a pandemic, to name a few. Unfortunately, not enough of this technological advancement is being applied to Biodiversity loss.
