Talk DCX Spots w/Travis & Ron - "Cowboys vs Raiders” The Dallas Cowboys travel to California this weekend to face the Oakland Raiders in what amounts to a playoff game for both teams under the lights of Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys and Raiders each experienced moments of fulfilling preseason promise, but they've also bottomed out at times during this campaign. When the final whistle blows on Sunday night, the winner will still have a fighting chance for a playoff berth. "I think the two of us probably expected to have a few more wins at this point in the year, but we are where we are and we're looking forward to playing," Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said on Wednesday. The Raiders will need a dramatic turnaround to bounce back from a 26-15 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Talk DCX Spots w/Travis & Ron - "Cowboys vs Giants Recap” The Dallas Cowboys needed a big win to stay in the playoff hunt and they got it with the big play in spoiling Steve Spagnuolo's debut as New York interim coach and the return of quarterback Eli Manning to the Giants' starting lineup. Dak Prescott threw two of his three touchdown passes, including a go-ahead 20-yarder to Giants' nemesis Jason Witten, and linebacker Sean Lee set up a touchdown run by Rod Smith as the Cowboys scored three times in a 4:41 span late in the fourth quarter to beat the still reeling Giants 30-10 on Sunday. The Cowboys (7-6) did just that in keeping their slim playoff hopes alive. The biggest play might have been Prescott's 54-yard third down pass play to Cole Beasley. Witten scored on the next play to break a 10-all tie with 7:38 to play and it seemed to take the air out of the Giants (2-11). "We know what we got to do," Beasley said. "We can't play that way. We have to focus on Dallas Cowboy football, taking it one at a time. You can't think ahead. We could win all of them and not get in."
This is I.T. (Inconvenient Truth)!! – Mental Health Awareness Understanding mental health issues in the black community isn’t really talked about because often times those who live or suffer from mental illness feel it isn’t something “blacks” have or they may feel admitting to it is a sign of weakness. From my experience those that I have encountered (all races) tend to feel the need to be appreciated, recognized for their hard work, have mood swings from one extreme to the next. Many don’t understand that there is a chemical imbalance which causes their perception of things to be different than what the situation really is about. I am not a health professional or licensed doctor. In my opinion I believe there is a disconnect in how their brains relays the information or how they view the only way to approach a situation that may cause them frustration because they can only see it from a certain point of view based upon how they have created routines for them to actually hide their illness. Every state has resources to help those who seek help in treating their mental illness without being placed inside a mental hospital. There are counselors, psychiatrist, medications, and support groups to help regain a sense of balance in their lives.
Talk DCX Spots w/Travis & Ron - "Is there hope for the Cowboys?" Are the Cowboys done? The Cowboys have only one game in the past weeks. What do the Cowboys need to do in order to turn their current situation around for the remaining season along with next season? What impact does the current coaching staff have to do with everything. Players are coming to the defense of the coaches and saying that the team isn’t doing their part, do you agree with the players or do you feel they are making excuses? Next week the Cowboys play the NY Giants will face each other again for the second time this season. What are your predictions since Eli Manning has been benched.
This is I.T. (Inconvenient Truth)!! – Heart of the Matter w/ Ana Carrillo Did you know that a heart attack or stroke can happen to anyone at any age? Many people believe the myth that either affects people that are older and never anyone in their teens or twenties. Once you have either a heart attack or stroke, how will it affect you and your family? Did you know once you have had either you can or will be denied life insurance or even health insurance because you are now listed as a high risk to have another medical emergency affecting the heart? The new medical standard for being classified as having high blood pressure is now 130 over 80 down from 140 over 90. The change means that 46 percent of US adults, many of them under the age of 45, now will be considered hypertensive. Under the previous guideline, 32 percent of US adults had high blood pressure. Our special guest speaker will tell her story along with how she is bringing awareness along with plans to help your family.
Talk DCX Spots w/Travis & Ron - "Cowboys vs Eagles" Are the Cowboys done? What happened in ATL? Who is to blame for the loss against the Falcons? Up next the Cowboys play the Eagles, who had a bye last week, have the NFL’s best record (8-1) and have won seven consecutive games. This is the fifth time in franchise history the Eagles have started a season 8-1 or better (1949, 1960, 1980 and 2004) and the team advanced to the NFL Championship/Super Bowl in each of the previous four instances. Dallas is 5-4 and coming off an awkward 27-7 loss at Atlanta. It was their first game without suspended running back Ezekiel Elliott and injured left tackle Tyron Smith and it showed. The rivalry is still very much intact and will be with young quarterbacks such as Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz leading their respective teams. “Anytime you’re playing a division rival it just seems like there is more riding on it, just because the division title is the No. 1 goal,” Wentz said.
This is I.T. (Inconvenient Truth)!!- CRPS Awareness Month I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSD). Physicians do not know why it develops or what causes it, but CRPS is a nerve disorder that usually occurs after a traumatic injury, surgery, sprain, fracture, or a period of immobilization. The principal symptom is pain dramatically disproportionate to the injury. More than 140 years ago Dr. Silas Weir Mitchell, a Union Army surgeon, first described the excruciating pain that we know as CRPS and it can lead to disability. I may look “healthy,” but I often suffer unbearable, unrelenting, and burning nerve pain. The McGill Pain Scale rates the pain of people with CRPS higher than that of people with cancer. My skin may swell, sweat, change colors, change temperature, or hurt to the slightest touch. CRPS can spread.
Talk DCX Sports – Let’s Talk Sports –Ezekiel Elliot Suspension Lifted again The Cowboys (4-3) have posted back-to-back victories for the first time this season, winning at San Francisco and Washington the last two outings. But while Dallas appears to be gaining momentum, the drawn-out Ezekiel Elliott suspension saga seems continues to have its twists and turns with the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granting an administrative stay on Friday and clearing the running back to play against the Chiefs. Earlier in the week, it appeared Dallas would likely be playing without Elliott for the first time due to the six-game suspension for violation of the NFL's personal-conduct policy.
Talk DCX Spots w/Travis & Ron - "Cowboys at Redskins" Now let’s go into detail and discuss all that’s weighing in the balance with this pivotal week 8 matchup. If the Redskins should find themselves on the losing end of this famed rivalry on Sunday, the climb back to playoff contention will be all the more difficult. The Washington Redskins are currently seated at third in the NFC East with two losses inside the division, both at the hands of the Eagles. If we plan to fight for a wild card spot in the 2017 NFL playoffs, it starts Sunday against Dallas. Falling behind three games in the NFC East would be catastrophic to the Redskins 2017 campaign. The Redskins haven’t shown the ability to overcome an obstacle of this magnitude as of yet, although anything is possible. The Redskins shouldn’t wait and watch what other teams are doing at the end of the regular season to push for the playoffs. This Redskins team has everything in front of them for the taking. They have to go into this game with an attitude like there’s no tomorrow. Their focus needs to be laser sharp. We’ve watched too many Redskins players fail to take advantage of opportunities to make key plays. Such a lack of focus won’t put the Redskins in a position to win.
Talk DCX Spots w/Travis & Ron - "Cowboys at 49ers" The Dallas Cowboys return from their bye week with a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7 of the 2017 NFL season. San Francisco is still looking for their first win of the year, while Dallas has just one victory since the season opener. The latest betting odds have Dallas favored by six points on the road, via OddsShark, and the over/under is 46. Here’s a closer look at the Week 7 game, as well as a prediction against the spread: Why the Cowboys could cover the spread As close as the 49ers have been in the last five weeks, bad teams find ways to lose games. San Francisco is a bad team, and they won’t have an easy time beating a legitimate playoff contender like Dallas. The Cowboys are going to be able to move the ball against San Francisco. It’s what they’ve done in every game with the exception of Week 2 in Denver. Dallas is averaging 29.7 points over their last three games, and San Francisco has given up at least 26 points in three of their last four contests.
This is I.T. (Inconvenient Truth)!! – Let Your Story Be an Inspiration Over the weekend I did something that I normally don’t do and that is schedule a meeting on a Sunday afternoon. The purpose of the meeting was to learn more about each other businesses. The two young women has a company that focuses on Life insurance and retirement accounts. I met with them at their office. One of the women told me that she suffered a heart attack or stroke at the age of 29. She said she was always afraid to talk about her health and what happened because of how young she was when it happened. She said that she admired me and all that I do because I am not afraid to talk about my health and all that I live with as far as Chronic Pain. She has learned that over the years that she has opened up about her experiences and how we never know what can happened that can affect our lives or our family. Do you find it hard to talk about your story? Do you become emotional thinking about it? Does the pain remind you of the mental aspects that no one knows? Call in, listen in or join chat to hear my thoughts on this!!!!
Talk DCX Spots w/Ron & A.M. Styles - "Week 6 Football Roundup " The Dallas Cowboys have a bye week so what is going on around the league? Eze suspension reinstated, so he will miss the next six games. What are your thoughts on this new development that was handed down by the courts in favor of the 6 games suspension? Will this ultimately affect the cowboys and their season or will they come together to get through this latest distraction? Seeing how the NFL is treating their players in the league and how owners are behind the message it is sending?
Talk DCX Spots w/Travis & Ron - "Cowboys vs Packers Recap " The Dallas Cowboys entered Week 5 in a bit of a tough spot. They were 2-2, haven’t really played up to their potential yet, and could’ve used a strong, signature win to stay in the thick of the NFC playoff race. The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers are always a formidable opponent, but the Cowboys were doing pretty well in Sunday’s game, jumping out to a 21-6 lead in the second quarter. But Rodgers did what he normally does, which is chip away at the deficit until the Packers had a 28-24 lead with 9:56 left in the fourth quarter. Despite blowing a massive lead, the Cowboys seemingly had the upper hand anyway. All they had to do was use Ezekiel Elliott and their elite offensive line to grind. (SB Nation)
