WE DID IT! The season finale of APN's Waveform has came, and it is in the studio! Lawrence Sung has one final talk with Kevin Wu, Ricky Wong, and APN Advisor Frank Sunez. They do a year-in-review, weigh the highs and lows of high school life, open up about things they wish they could've done while at Arcadia High, and discuss plans for the future.
Congratulations to the APN Class of 2021!

Reality TV shows are known for exaggerating the personal lives and drama of their cast members, but we can bet that this week's episode isn't going to exaggerate anything! In the penultimate episode before the Season 2 Finale of KARC, Lawrence has an honest, down-to-earth conversation with Ethan Tran and Tharun Saravanakumar about the passion that goes into the APN production life, but also the frustrations that such a life carries as well.
Stay tuned for the Season 2 Finale, which will be recorded in the studio for the first time since May of 2019!

Ever since the pandemic started, APN has covered the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes that followed. Given that our crew is mostly Asian, the attacks on the AAPI community have made the media coverage that Apache News does on this development very personal. In light of the situation’s gravity, Lawrence decided to sit down with Kathy Liu and Swetha Somasundaram to take the time to reflect on the whole thing, as well as how to progress forward not just as individuals, but as a society. #stopasianhate
APN thanks the Arcadia Civic Youth Council for providing the materials that were used to guide this discussion—materials that were from ACYC’s virtual Stop Asian Hate Dialogue. Watch the recording of the speaker sessions here: www.tinyurl.com/stophatearcadiavideo

Since the first sports live-stream of the 2020-21 school year just so happens to be on KARC's release date, Lawrence realized that it is now or never to do the long-awaited (at least in APN) sports podcast episode! This week, he sits down with the veterans of the Apache News crew--Clara Montenegro, Harrison Meyers, and Ian Sutliff--to discuss how they feel about sports live-streams returning, but also how they fell in love with sports.
Sorry for the bad audio--it's been hard getting our audio equipment around these past weeks.

Another long episode coming your way! In the spirit of mental well-being, considering that APN has been busy editing Arcadia Unified's first-ever middle school wellness conference, and preparing for the possible return of sports to Arcadia High, Lawrence decided to sit down with Andrew Liu and Jacob Randall, two APN reporters who helped put together this monumental event, to talk about what it was like being on that project, and how they are maintaining their sanity during these times.
Also, this wellness attitude convinced Lawrence to take a low-maintenance approach to editing this podcast episode due to the busy schedule he has had over the past two weeks, so that's why the audio is...well..."unique."
Let's just say that this is a "director's cut".

Since the days of old, it has been an uphill struggle for women in this society--especially in this year's APN crew, where 16 out of the 19 members are boys. Nevertheless, KARC co-producer Safia Malik and APN members Clara Montenegro and Giselle Lai have always met the challenge, and exceeded its power. Today, they sit down to discuss not just their experience in the boys club that is APN, but their outlook on advancements for women throughout society.
This chapter is dedicated to the 47th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, which is today. APN is an ardent support of gender equality and women's rights, and will continue to highlight these issues on its platforms.

This episode is officially sponsored by Vietnam Kitchen.

After Paula Contreras and Jeremy Sutton wrapped up Season 1 in spectacular fashion in the spring of 2019, Lawrence Sung and Safia Malik pick up their torches to bring back the "best" student podcast of Arcadia High School: APN's Waveform!
For KARC's Season 2 premiere, we bring on APN advisor and THREE-TIME EMMY AWARD WINNER Frank Sunez to dig deep into APN's quarantine grind!
Segments:
0:00 - Introduction
1:15 - The News Turned Upside Down
7:25 - The Ship Hits Rock Bottom
13:20 - The View from Outside
17:11 - We Get A Badly-Needed Recharge
23:33 - How APN Revived Itself From the Dead
Note: The company JLab is in no way affiliated with JBL (also we are not sponsored by any of these companies). Lawrence probably screwed that one up because he was thinking too much about his college apps... Also, for now we are using the old graphics from last year--you can see our new podcast graphics in Chapter 2!
