Description

ARTalk is a weekly 30-minute video program that is broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube Tuesday nights. Each conversation is unique, and each offers perspective into the creative process. The podcast is designed to highlight new artists, explore non-traditional artist subjects, and offer a voice to those who are experimenting with art for the first time. There is a certain magic that comes with discovery and each episode highlights that magic. By giving people a safe environment to share, the goal is to motivate, excite, and inspire others to create.

Mickey is a Michigan-based writer of thrillers, sci-fi and satire. Something of a multipotentialite, he has degrees in computer engineering and information science, works in digital marketing, plays ukulele and recently started cartooning and tap dancing. He is an expert on creative productivity, web publishing, and dirty limericks. Mickey studied computer engineering in college, and has worked for over 35 years in technology. Currently, he’s a webmaster for an insurance company. Recently, he formed a publishing company to produce his own books. Working full-time forced him to become a student of productivity and efficiency to find—or make—time for his writing. But he also went on a journey of personal development, shedding as many bad habits, biases and limiting beliefs as possible. His creative practice is a combination of meditation, journaling, planning, and storytelling that brings him joy even when the books aren’t selling. For fun, he plays with his dogs, draws, plays ukulele, and tells stories at the Moth whenever possible. He has written seven books he promotes, plus a few others that have been laid to rest. Currently, he’s working on a psychological thriller and a satire in a business setting. After those, he’ll continue his dystopian sci-fi series and his amateur detective mystery series. He is also developing a set of courses on creativity, writing and publishing to share what he has learned along the way. His background in technology has made him an expert in several computer-based tools for writing, planning and publishing, but he loves to put pen to paper every day and can show you why it’s important and effective to write by hand. Mickey can be reached at (305) 741-6589 or via email at: press@mickeyhadick.com.

My last ARTalk podcast was back in June - right before I embarked on a 5-week vacation to the American Southwest. However, when I was at the half-way point, I had an auto accident which stopped me dead in my tracks. In fact, the accident shook me so much that I stopped doing everything. While I was not physically injured, looking back I think the accident sent me into a grief spirial. It's taken me this long to put everything into perspective and begin to move forward. In this special "The Great Pause" episode of ARTalk with John Cole Artist, I'll speak to the first half of my vacation and how I'm now recovering from the damage a "simple" accident can have. I look forward to sharing my story with you.

Tonight, I'll be taking questions and providing answers regarding my new book "Seeking Permission: Finding the Freedom to Live Your Own Life". It isn't just a book—it's a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of self-acceptance, and a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit. Through my riveting story, readers are invited to embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and profound transformation. If you are yearning to live a life of authentic purpose, unchained by the opinions of others, the stories within these pages can serve as your guide. My story weaves through the intricacies of complicated family dynamics, devotion to duty, and the expected or unexpected commitments life calls for. As a steadfast serviceman in the Coast Guard, I faced not just the literal storms at sea but also the waves of personal trauma, complex relationships, and the quest for self-realization after 36 years of unwavering service. This is a compelling narrative about confronting and overcoming life’s trials, healing from trauma, and, most importantly, about the courage to pursue passions and purpose with unyielding freedom.
Even though she had the 6-figure salary, she was scared of money and realized she was just surviving day-to-day. She then spent time getting really honest with herself and what she truly wanted in life. It turns out, it was not a corporate career, a white picket fence and 2.5 children. She started a bookkeeping business, helping new entrepreneurs understand their finances. Soon after, she realized many people were avoiding their finances - not only their business finances, but their personal finances too! It became her mission to understand why so many people could not seem to so something as simple as look at their bank account. She soon discovered that the problem was a deeply embedded trauma response and people were letting fear run the show of our lives, masking it with the belief of being a problem with money. The truth was, people knew exactly what to do with their money. They were simply stuck on not knowing how to overcome the fear long enough to do the things they knew could be done to accomplish their financial dreams. This is where Heather comes in. She works with clients to understand why they are thinking and feeling the way they do. This leads to different behavior and eventually different outcomes. Heather is a certified Master Mind Magic practitioner, certified Rich Method Coach, and a member of the International Neuro Energetics Association of Coaches and Practitioners. She is also the host of "Unblock Your Money Sh!t" podcast on Spotify and all major podcast platforms. For more information about Heather and her financial coaching practice, see https://www.heatherdoran.biz/.

Tonight we investigate the world of miniature hobby kits. A miniature hobby kit is a resource for people who assemble, customize, and paint miniature figures, scale models, and gaming terrain. Hobby kits often include precision tools like hobby knives, pin vises, plastic frame cutters, needle pliers, files, and sculpting tools. For this episode, we open a kit to see what's inside. Having completed a kit in the past, I will speak to complexity, amount of time, and any other resources you would need to build your own kit. It's going to be a fun episode so please listen or watch!
