DAILY JOURNAL 16 - "A Town Mouse and A Country Mouse" by Indriani Meisyaroh

[[A Town Mouse and A Country Mouse]] A Town Mouse and a Country Mouse were friends. The Country Mouse one day invited his friend to come and see him at his home in the fields. The Town Mouse came and they sat down to a dinner of barleycorns and roots the latter of which had a distinctly earthy flavour. The flavour was not much to the taste of the guest and presently he broke out with “My poor dear friend, you live here no better than the ants. Now, you should just see how I fare! My larder is a regular horn of plenty. You must come and stay with me and I promise you shall live on the fat of the land.” So when he returned to town he took the Country Mouse with him and showed him into a larder containing flour and oatmeal and figs and honey and dates. The Country Mouse had never seen anything like it and sat down to enjoy the luxuries his friend provided. But before they had well begun, the door of the larder opened and some one came in. The two Mice scampered off and hid themselves in a narrow and exceedingly uncomfortable hole. Presently, when all was quiet, they ventured out again. But some one else came in, and off they scuttled again. This was too much for the visitor. “Good bye,” said he, “I’m off. You live in the lap of luxury, I can see, but you are surrounded by dangers whereas at home I can enjoy my simple dinner of roots and corn in peace.”A Town Mouse and A Country Mouse A Town Mouse and a Country Mouse were friends. DAILY JOURNAL 13 - "...we can't stay" Children Books story by Indriani Meisyaroh

It’s not fair! ... that we can’t stay It was the summer holiday, and the most perfect one ever. Kitty’s parents had rented a little cottage in the heart of the country. It wsn’t big or grand : a sitting room, a kitchen, two littel bedrooms, and a bathroom under a tatched roof – that’s all. But Kitty loved it. She and Daniel had to share a room, which normally they hated – but that couldn’t spoiler their holiday. They hardly ever quarrelled – not here. For two whole weeks she and Daniel ran wild, like little squirrels – climbing trees, playing hide and seek in the big garden, going for long walks in the woods with Mum and Dad. “ I’ve never had such a lovely time,” Kitty said. But now it was the last day. Dad was sweeping the stone floor of the little kitchen, and Mum was upstairs, packing their bags. It was over. And Kitty couldn’t bear it. Dad found her sitting by the sitting-room window, looking out across the fields, witha very sulky look on her face. “Mum’s calling you Kit”, he said. “You’ve to go and start packing your toys”. Kitty said nothing. “Come on, what’s the matter?” asked Dad. “Doan’t wanna go back, noffair”, she mum-bled without turning round. Dad laughed “What are you complaining about now?” Kitty swung round to face him, andfolded her arms. “I said it’s not fair we can’t stay,” she said, crossly. “I don’t want to go back to our boring old house, in the boring old town, and go to boring old school. I want to stay here ever and ever.” “But you cna’t Kit,” said Dad. “I know, and it’s not FAIR,” shouted Kitty, bursting into tears and running out of the room. An hour later Dad carried the suitcases downstairs, and put them in the car. Daniel was helping. Mum was tigying the sitting room. But there was no sign of Kitty. “Kitty!” Mum called, sounding worried. “What’s wrong?”, asked Dad. Mum rushed past him, and looked into the downstairs toilet. “Oh where is that girl?” she said. They looked everuwhere – under the beds, in the bathroom, in the wardrobe, behind the sofa, under the tables, even in the wicker basket on the landing. But there was no sign of Kitty. Daniel called her name loudly. “Oh...she wouldn’t off and get lost, would seh?” Mum asked, in a very anxious voice. “Noway”, said Dad. “She knows that would be wrong and silly, and I know she’d never do it. No – she’s hiding, that’s all. Seha doens’t want to go home”. “Well, she’s found a really good hiding place,” said Daniel, rather pleased at the thought that his sister was going to get into trouble. “So how can we get her out of it?” ,ur,ered Dad. “Hmm... maybe I’ve got a plan...” At the moment Kitty was sitting in the one place they hadn’t thought of looking : tha little lean-to shed where old deck-chairs were kept. Or at least – Mum had just looked in the door. There was a spider’s web over a hole in the glass. “Ugh Kitty would neevr go in there,” she thought. But Kitty hid behind two stacked deck-chairs, feeling very pleased with herself. “Now they won’t be able to go”, she said to herself. Juast than she heard Dad calling. “We’re off now, Kit” he shouted, “So if you don’t want to come with us, you can stay here.” “Goodbye,” shouted Mu, and Daniel. “Ha, if they think I’d fall for that one...” smiled Kitty. But then she heard the car doors slam, then the engine start, and then the sound of the car driving away. She waited for a while, not believing waht seh had heard. It was quiet, very quiet. Something rustled at the back of the shed, and a spider ran across the floor. Kitty decided she had been in there long enough. She scrept from her hiding place, and stood listening. Not a sound. The holiday cottage that had been full of family noise was now silent and empty, and Kitty didn’t like it. Bue she knew she had to be brave. “Right then, I’ll go and read my book in the sittng room... the I’ll go for a walk, then...” she said, in a small voice. It was very quiet. Slowly she walked up to the back door and pushed it open. It was funny – she had neve

DAILY JOURNAL 12 - Conversation with My Friend, by : Indriani Meisyaroh

I : Hi, is this really Ulil's cellphone number? U : Yes, it's me I : I am Indri, a student at the Universitas Negeri Semarng who will conduct research on the Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic in one of the villages. So, in my future research, I need an application to make it easier for local villages to understand the impact and spread of Covid-19. U : okay, then? I : I have previously told this to my friend, and my friend asked me to contact you, because you can help me U : I think so. What can I do for you? I : I want to make an application that provides an information platform about Covid-19. Starting from understanding, symptoms, spread, to prevention. If possible, this application is designed with more pictures than writing, so that people are more interested. In addition, this application must be made as easy and simple as possible so that it is easy for them to use. U : Ok I already have an idea about it. But, when is it used? I : the middle of next year. U : it may take longer than that. Because I have to do a reset and some studies first so that it fits what I want. Besides, it has to be done by several people, not just me. I : ok no problem, maybe we can manage it while doing something else. U : What do you want the initial display design to look like? Maybe I can make an overview first. I : I have some references that I want, I'll send them via email later U : okay if you can, don't come tomorrow okay? I : Yes, around 12 noon, I immediately sent it. Because right now I have activities. U : maybe we can arrange a time to meet in person after I make the sketch. How ? I : Yes, that's fine, I'll let you know later U : Ok I : thank you for taking the time and good luck going forward U : yes it will be smooth and the results are satisfactory. I : ok, see you next time

DAILY JOURNAL 8 - "It's Not Fair" short story from Children Book by Indriani Meisyaroh

It’s Not Fair (.... that I’m Little) Kitty was the smallest girl in her class. Ususally she did not care. She could swim well, and run as fast as most people and once came first in the egg and spoon race on Sports Day. So it did not matter. That was what Kitty thought. But one day something happened to make her change her mind. It was one of those days wehen nothing went right. First of all, there was a new boy in Kitty’s class. His name was Tom, and he was very, very tall. Kitty didn’t like him very much, because he called her “Shrimp”. The whole class was working on a mural in paint and cut-out paper, and on this day Kitty and Tom and two other children were chosen to do special extra work on it. Kitty was very excited. She loved painting – especially when you could be really messy. That was why she wanted to paint the sky, with lovely big fluffy clouds floating along. But each time she tried Tom laughed at her. “You can’t reach”, he said. “You’re too small”. And he leaned over her head, and did the bit she wanted to do. At break she found someone had put her jacket on one of the higher pegs she could not reach, and she wouldn’t ask Tom or anyone to get it down. So she went outside without it, and felt cold. The the play-ground helper told her off for not wearing a coat. “I couldn’t reach it”, said Kitty, in a small voice. “Oh, you’re such a dear little thing”, said the aldy, naicely. Kitty sighed. It really was not fair. Then it was the games lesson, when the girls had to play netball. They were learning to stop each other getting the ball. You had to dodge quickly, and jump very high. Kitty wasn’t very good at that. Today she was worse than ever. She did not get hold of the ball once. All the other girls had longer arms and legs, and it seemed easy for them. Afterwards one of the girls said something that hurt Kitty very much. “No one will want you in their team, Kitty. You’re to tiny”. Kitty was very quiet when sehe got home. Her mum noticed. At last Kitty burst into tears. “It’s not fair that I’m little”, she sobbed. Kitty told her mum everything. Mum nodded. “It isn’t easy. I was small then was a little girl, and you ask Daniel what they say to him in school” Surprised, Kitty went to find her big brother to ask him. He made a face. “They sometimes call me Shorty”, he said. “But it’s always very friendly, So I dont mind!” “Are you small to?” “Yes. But I’d rather be me than the boy in our class who’s so tall and thin they call him Stringy”. “You see”, said Mum, “most people have got something about themselves tehy would like to change. When you know that, it makes you feel better about yourself”. Kitty thought about that, and she made a plan. The next day, at playtime, she made herslef feel brave enough to go up to Tom when we standing on his own. “Tom, can I ask you something?”, she said. “What, Shrimp?” “If you had one wish, what would you change about yourself?” The tall boy looked surprised. Then he went pink, and wishpered, “My hair. I hate my hair”. Kitty looked at it. It was orange-brown. She thought it was rather nice. “at my old school they called me carrots”., he said, “and it wasn’t fair. But don’t you tell anyone, will you Shrimp?” Kitty said she wouldn’t. Then she found Susie, the big strong girl who had said Kitty was no good at netball, and asked her the same question. Susie answer quickly, “My size, because I feel like an elephant. I’d like to be smaller. I’d like to be like you”. “Like me?”, Kitty amazed Susie nodded. Kitty looked around the playground, at all the children running around. Some tall, some small. Some fat, some thin. Some dark, some fair. Some shy, some bold. Some who could sing, some who could swim. Some dainty, some clumsy..... “We’re all different”. She said to herself, “and I suppose that’s fair!”

DAILY JOURNAL 6 - News by Indriani Meisyaroh

The British government has revised its advice on face coverings for schools in England, which are beginning to reopen this week. In areas where the transmission of coronavirus is high, masks will be compulsory for secondary pupils and staff, where social distancing isn't possible. Elsewhere headteachers will have the discretion to set their own policy. Ministers had ruled out mandatory face coverings, saying the scientific advice showed schools are safe, but the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson now says the new guidelines are based on the latest World Health Organisation guidelines. Primary schools are not affected. Scotland and Northern Ireland have already said secondary school pupils should wear masks in communal areas, and the Welsh government is reviewing its guidance. Clive Myrie introduces this report from our Education Editor, Branwen Jeffreys.

My Love (Westlife) by Indriani Meisyaroh

[ My Love ] An empty street, an empty house // A hole inside my heart // I'm all alone, the rooms are getting smaller // I wonder how, I wonder why I wonder where they are // The days we had, the songs we sang together // Oh, yeah // And oh, my love I'm holding on forever // Reaching for the love that seems so far // So, I say a little prayer // And hope my dreams will take me there // Where the skies are blue // To see you once again, my love // Overseas, from coast to coast // To find a place I love the most // Where the fields are green // To see you once again My love // I try to read, I go to work // I'm laughing with my friends // But I can't stop to keep myself from thinking, oh no // I wonder how, I wonder why I wonder where they are // The days we had, the songs we sang together, oh, yeah // And oh, my love // I'm holding on forever // Reaching for the love that seems so far // So, I say a little prayer // And hope my dreams will take me there // Where the skies are blue // To see you l once again, my love // Overseas, from coast to coast // To find a place I love the most // Where the fields are green // To see you once again // To hold you in my arms // To promise you my love // To tell you from the heart // You're all I'm thinking of

DAILY JOURNAL 3 - Perfect (Ed Sheeran) by Indriani Meisyaroh

[ Perfect ] I found a love for me // Oh darling, just dive right in and follow my lead // Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet // Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me // 'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love // Not knowing what it was // I will not give you up this time // But darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own // And in your eyes, you're holding mine // Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms // Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song // When you said you looked a mess, // I whispered underneath my breath // But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight
