KHIRSTEN L. SCOTT, PHD Daughter of the US South, Dr. Khirsten L. Scott is a writer and community-driven educator who works across the disciplines of critical HBCU studies, rhetorical theory and writing studies, digital and Black studies, and critical pedagogy. Dr. Scott earned her BA in English Literature and Language from Tougaloo College, her MA in Composition, Rhetoric, and English Studies from the University of Alabama, and her PhD in English, Rhetoric and Composition, from the University of Louisville. Dr. Scott is currently working on her first book which explores Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their survival within US Higher Education. Within the city of Pittsburgh, she is the lead organizer and facilitator of HYPE Media (Homewood Youth-Powered and Engaged Media), a critical literacies program focused on youth-led story-making possibilities that respond to stigmatized narratives of Black girls, Black women, and Black communities. She is director and co-founder of DBLAC, Digital Black Lit and Composition, a virtual and in-person community offering writing support for Black scholars. She teaches at the University of Pittsburgh where she was awarded the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences Award for Excellence in Graduate Mentoring (2020) for early-career faculty. She has served as a critical education consultant for Bedford/St. Martin, a humanities-based publishing imprint of Macmillan Learning, American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), Association for Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW). Dr. Scott has been invited to facilitate workshops and discussions with a number of community organizations, schools, and institutions of higher learning across the US. Her work can be found on her YouTube Channel, Composition Studies journal, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Kairos journal, Prose Studies journal, the Routledge Reader of African American Rhetoric, Mobility in Work in Composition, Bridging the Gap: Multimodality in Theory, and Practice and Kentucky Teacher Education Journal.
Ariona Lynn is a innovative creative making way to her path of freedom through her writing, illustrations, and digital art. As a mother of two she pulls no punches in cultivating her inner child when expressing herself through her talents.  She’s the creator of Art Thou Alche-Me where she illustrates and will be nourishing and adding the opening of her 2-Dimensional, and 3-Dimensional art. Excited and all she’s balancing taking over the Digital Art world with one venture at a time.
Malajsha Mollett known as Lay by her friends and family, was born in Pittsburgh, PA. She is a high honor roll student with a love for many things. Lay enjoys basketball, playing the drums, gymnastics, and football. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, Lay has become a business owner at the age of eight years old. As the owner of, “Balling Bags”, Malajsha Sales basketball purses and custom tie-dye clothing. Lay is now 10 years old a published author, an honor roll student, active in her community and a part of a beautiful blended family. My guest for this episode is Diane I. Daniels. Since a junior in high school, Diane I. Daniels knew she wanted to be an entrepreneur. For over three decades she has operated DID & Associates. Understanding the importance of marketing for small businesses and non-profit agencies her motto is to promote, publicize and popularize while providing media relations services and specialized training, business and community development services   A strong community advocate, she is co-founder and president of the East Hills Consensus Group and serves as a mentor for the Urban League of Pittsburgh’s African American Achievement Trust Mentoring Program.   A lover of life and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, Diane says, “I am honored that God uses me to do his work. He has placed people in my life that have enabled me to be who I am. I had a marvelous grandmother, mother and father and my siblings and husband continuously support and encourage me to strive.” Listen up as she shares how she lives her ABUNDANT LIFE!
Sasha Glenn, a happily married mother of 2, has always known her place is at home. She has spent most of the last decade as a stay at home mom and housewife. Her previous experience as a preschool teacher aided in her ability to teach her children and instill vital life skills. She values the traditional roles she and her husband have chosen, and is passionate about encouraging other mothers to consider spending more time at home. From finding new recipes to cook for the family to managing time to keep everyone organized, Sasha enjoys it all. She says the most important piece of her life is balance which includes taking time to reflect and refresh so she has the energy and patience to effectively keep her home.
This interview is with Malik Long. He’s 39 years old born and raised in Philadelphia but living in Pittsburgh for 9 years. He’s also a creator of the podcast, The Cool Podcast with the coolbrother and he’s a vocalist.  His goal is to continue to get his voice heard around Pittsburgh and in general.  Tune in as we discussed the power of your words.
