I am warning you now, this episode is a real tear-jerker! In this week's podcast, we are finishing up the Bible study, Intellectual Disabilities and Salvation in the Joni and Friends Beyond Suffering Bible. Tune on in to hear about an adorable little girl named Iris with brittle bone disease who longed for God's word.
"Embrace your imperfections because God is the creator, you are his masterpiece, he will create beauty from your breaks, you just need to let him." We may feel like a lot of things are broken right now: our mental health, our families, our nation, our entire world! But God does his best work with broken pieces.
"Y'all, I don't know about you, but I would be running out of that jail the second that earthquake broke apart my shackles and broke those doors open! I mean, number one, there's an earthquake, and number two, it's a jail! " Tune into this week's episode of Abundantly Able to hear more about this (literal) earth-shattering Bible study and how important it is to believe simply & purely, even when the ground is literally (or figuratively) dropping out from under you!
"I don't care what you have done, I don't care how poor, stupid, or worthless you think you are! I don't care if you are literally on your deathbed moments from your last breath, you make your last breath count, and give your heart and your life to Jesus." I think that pretty much sums it up! But please tune in to this week's episode and maybe learn something about salvation.
"I think that so many people who battle disorders, disabilities, and other diagnoses can relate to the heartache of losing close friends and the insecurities that come along with such rejection." Read along with me this week to find out more about the media brainwashing others and causing an over-3-decade friendship divide!
" The people who have melted my heart the most in my life are those with intellectual disabilities. They are diamonds in the rough. " This week's episode of Abundantly Able goes deeper into what scripture says about salvation and the purity of the heart versus the power of the mind.
"Being a healthcare worker, I will be the first to admit that I have grown very numb and very callous to pain and hurt and tears and cries for help. " Tune into today's episode to find out more about hardened hearts and how to break the chains. this week, we are diving into a brand new Bible study. It was not planned this way (at least not by me), but this is perfect timing for today's new Bible study, with so many people worrying about DOGE and the IDEA Act.
"I have struggled with unforgiveness in my heart I verbalized that I had forgiven a specific person but the Lord knew my heart, he saw the blackness in my heart that I tried to cover up with words." I think we all can relate to struggling with unforgiveness at some point in our lives! In this week's episode of Abundantly Able, we talk about sin and how confession of our sins may help with our healing...or not. Let's listen and find out!
" I will admit that I do not have "share the good news" on my mind when someone insults or hurts me or my loved ones!" In This week's episode of Abundantly Able, we talk about how to treat those who hurt us. We just recently had the Bourbon St. terrorist attack here in Louisiana, and on the news, we have been seeing Hamas releasing coffins with murdered Jewish babies inside. I feel like with all the wars going on and all the political divisions going on right now; this is a perfect Bible study for us all!
"Y'all, I don't know about you, but I am so over this earthy body! I am 41, and as soon as I turned 40 (literally, the day after I turned 40), my hip started killing me, then the pain spread down my leg, and I was lame for over a month! Here I was, an OTA at a rehab hospital, trying to teach people with disabilities how to dress themselves, and I couldn't even put on my own socks!" Do you ever get sick of your earthly body? If so, this week's episode of Abundantly Able is for you!
"I love how, time and time again, Jesus meets us where we are at…not where we should be. Just like when I struggled with gender dysphoria in the 80's and 90's as a kid and I lamented to the Lord for years. My parents never affirmed me because that wasn't even a thing back then. Instead, my mother gave me a call to action..."
"Some people can see something with their own two eyes and still deny facts. I feel like we are seeing a lot of that in these times." With the recent terrorist attack on Bourbon St. in New Orleans (just 40 minutes from my home) and all the wars and unrest in the world today, we need to believe in something, what will you believe?
"God does not look at death the same way we humans do, but it's obvious that God longs for conversation with us, he longs to hear what we have to say. " In this week's episode of Abundantly Able, we focus on God's stance on taking medicine as well as the importance of talking to God and how talking to God can actually change his mind! It's important to talk to God about sickness and health, during a presidential election, before and during a marriage, child-rearing, and a job change. It's also important to talk to God about the small things in life because God cares about you, all of you!
"I know this can be a very touchy subject for some people, and this topic has even caused a separation in some denominations...." Follow along with me in this week's episode of Abundantly Able to read about what the Bible says about God's greatness, especially when it comes to healing the hurting, which couldn't have come at a more devastating time! With Hurricane Helene ravaging through Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina & Georgia. Now, two weeks later, Hurricane Milton has hit Florida with several deadly pop-up tornadoes as his opening act! People need hope, faith, and healing like never before. I pray this new Bible study will help others find hope, faith, and healing like never before.
"I love Revelations, it's trippy but I think that's part of why I love it so much." In this week's episode, we discuss the end of days and I open up about God speaking to me and my husband through a miraculous warning in the sky!
"I spent a good chunk of my life feeling sorry for myself until I grew closer and closer to Jesus and dug deeper and deeper in the Bible". In this week's episode, I opened up about how destructive the victim mentality can be and how a calling from Christ can completely change your life!
"Living less than an hour from New Orleans, during Mardi Gras the krews and floats represent different Greek gods and goddesses with many Bacchanalia or Dionysus parties… but even though I found Greek mythology fascinating (as a child) I often thought to myself "Why would anyone wanna worship god's and goddesses who are so flawed." Learning about Greek mythology is a lot like a soap opera! There is cheating, murder, lies & deception. I mean if I wanted to idolize that kind of drama I would just Idolize my own family." Listen to this week's episode if you want to know what we Christians should know about our God!
" You look over at Joe and he's on his 3rd donut and 5th cup of coffee but somehow he stays in good shape while banging out those sales calls and just won a trip to the Bahamas... I know it's so easy to look over at the person who is super successful and has a lot of money and the big house with the nice cars… or maybe the person that is in picture-perfect health while your fighting a cancer diagnosis or an autoimmune disease or something else that's crippling and wreaking havoc on your body..." Sound familiar? If you can resonate with any of this, tune into this week's episode of Abundantly Able to find out how to rise above these feelings (and Joe) hee hee.
" I no longer ask God why I endured abuse, degradation, manipulation, and control most of my life, I no longer ask God why the abuse eventually caused me never to have children, I no longer ask God why I was born with learning disabilities, a developmental disability, an autoimmune disease, and a rare heart condition. I now rejoice in the opportunity to share my testimony with you because you are beloved and Jesus died for you and me and all of us. If I had just given Jesus the wheel a long time ago I wouldn't have hurt myself as much as I did, I wouldn't have made as many self-destructive decisions as I did and I could have encouraged you and others like you sooner in life. But we love to hang on to our hurts and habits, don't we?" I am sure that there are many listeners out there who can relate to this hard life lesson! Please tune into this week's episode of Abundantly Able if you need to heal from self-destructive behaviors or the deep wounds of battling disability or abuse on any level.
"I was having a conversation with a co-worker who was also gay and we brought up our beliefs. I will remember his words for the rest of my life, he said..." Tune into this week's episode to hear more on this difficult topic during Pride month.
