Gateway Association is an Alberta based, non-profit organization established in 1975 that empowers individuals with disabilities and their families. Operating in Edmonton and Calgary, it functions as an Employment Resource Centre and Family Resource Centre.
Episode 70: Zachary Weeks Today, Austin and Morgan interview Zachary Weeks who is a disability advocate and accessibility consult based in Edmonton, Alberta. Zachary has been a spokesperson on disability issues since he was young. He has consulted on various building departments such as the Glenrose's Bill Black Auditorium, The Walterdale Theatre and Rogers Place.
Episode 69: Councillor Keren Tang Today, Austin interviews Keren Tang, who has represented the Southeast Ward Karhiio community on the Edmonton City Council since 2021. As a Councillor, Keren has served on the Accessibility Advisory Committee and as a board member of Alberta Municipalities and Climate Caucus. Keren is passionate about participatory engagement bringing community perspectives to life and working with diverse communities to build healthier more connected neighbourhoods.
Episode 68: Barrier Free Alberta Today, Austin and Morgan interview Michelle Kristinson, Government Relations & Advocacy Manager for Cerebral Palsy Alberta and member of Barrier Free Alberta. Barrier Free Alberta is a grassroots advocacy movement campaigning for comprehensive accessibility legislation to identify, remove and prevent barrier for people with disabilities in the province.
