In a now viral video posted by Miranda Derrick's family on February 22nd of this year, it is alleged that Miranda is being exploited and held against her will by a christian cult in Los Angeles. While this is usually the tone parents take when their baby girl makes it big in the city, there are more than a few very questionable behaviors and beliefs within the cult that would leave any parents concerned. The agency behind this cult, 7M films, has close ties to the Shekinah church, one that epitomizes the New Age to Fascist pipeline, as well as close ties to many powerful and decidedly ungodly people. Julius & Ethel Rosenberg were American citizens who were convicted of spying on behalf of the Soviet Union. The couple were convicted of providing top-secret information about radar, sonar, jet propulsion engines and valuable nuclear weapon designs (at that time the United States was the only country in the world with nuclear weapons). Convicted of espionage in 1951, they were executed by the federal government of the United States in 1953 at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, New York, becoming the first American civilians to be executed for such charges and the first to receive that penalty during peacetime. With the world once again being fated by possible war time, we thought this was a good week to look back at the greatest spy case in american history.
Dorothea Helen Puente lead a long life of hustles, scams, thefts and eventually murder. Using her kindly demeanor to lure in helpless people with charity, only to leave them broke, and sometimes, buried. Poison was her speciality, using it to pray on the elderly and infirm. She owned the so-called Murderhouse in Sacramento, a building that still stands today, that Dorothea operated as halfway house for the homeless and mentally ill. Living off of her victims pensions and social security checks, Puente hid in plain sight, with many authorities, and even her jury, buying her old lady gimmick. Was she set up? August 27, 1587 would be the final day the lost colonists of Roanoke would be seen by the fellow landgrabbers. In fact, it would be three years until their Governor, John White, would return to find the colony abandoned with no trace of the 115 people left behind to start a new life in what was seen as easily conquerable land. Terrible fortune beset the explorers of this so-called New World, likely because it was infact a very lived-in and established country with people not fond of their new party crashers. The legend has lived through the centuries of what happened to the aspiring imperialists, cloaked in mystery and often the paranormal. Roanoke however, wasn't even the first failed colony on the islands of the outer banks. In fact, John White, the Governor of Roanoke, was a surviving member of the previous fort on the isle, the Lane Colony. So, what was the fate of the Roanoke Colonists? Did they get wha they had coming to them? Was it a plague? Famine, maybe even something zombie-like? Or was it a sea monster that would do Lovecraft proud?

Last week, we talked about the fatal accidental shooting that took place on the set of the film Rust in October. We made that episode after the armorer for the production, Hannah Reed, was claiming that she wasn't responsible as everyone thought. Citing a messy and dangerous working condition, Reed insisted that she didn't even have the gun last before it was used to shoot. At the time, we humored that theory only to have people very close to the case reach out with information currently under wraps in form of texts and emails with Hannah herself and fellow coworkers about the conditions on set, and the yet to be discussed change Baldwin recklessly called for that undoubtedly put cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in the way of the bullet that killed her. On November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed six members of his family at 112 Ocean Avenue, a large Dutch Colonial house situated in a suburban neighborhood in Amityville, on the south shore of Long Island, New York. He was convicted of second-degree murder in November 1975 and sentenced to six sentences of 25 years to life in prison. In December 1975, George and Kathy Lutz and their three children moved into the house. After 28 days, the Lutzes fled the house, claiming to have been terrorized by paranormal phenomena while living there.
