After holding this key artillery position, he was ordered to withdraw and then swiftly attacked by Confederate forces. The prevailing thought is that Sickles aimed to prevent the Confederates from gaining what he deemed another advantageous position. In this frigid Winter, it is fitting that our pal and fellow-Patron Ken Gavin comes back to talk about the Winter at Valley Forge during the American Revolution.
