Laurence Black is the founder of The Index Standard® and an index advisor to Robert J. Shiller, Sterling Professor Emeritus of Economics at Yale University.
Before founding The Index Standard®, Laurence was Managing Director and Head of Quantitative Indices and Strategies at Barclays, where he oversaw the development of the Barclays index family. In addition to designing some of the first smart beta/factor indices, Laurence spearheaded Barclays’ index partnerships with Professors Robert Shiller and Nouriel Roubini, as well as Novus Partners.
Before Barclays, Laurence was Head of Indices at ABN AMRO in London, where he successfully launched indices with well-known investors such as Jim Rogers and Joel Greenblatt. Before ABN AMRO, Laurence worked at Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank, and Credit Suisse.
Laurence holds an MBA from the University of Warwick and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Town. When not thinking about financial matters, he can mostly be found on a tennis court.

Mary Anne Ehlert is a nationally recognized expert in special needs planning. As a Partner of Simplicity Group and Founder of Protected Tomorrows, a Simplicity Group commitment, she leads the organization in providing advocacy, education, and planning support to families with loved ones who have disabilities.
Mary Anne founded Protected Tomorrows more than 35 years ago after her family’s personal journey with special needs planning for her sister Marcia’s future revealed a lack of available resources. She has since dedicated her life to building those resources for others.
Prior to founding the company, Mary Anne spent over two decades in corporate financial services. Today, she speaks at national conferences, hosts educational webinars, and leads virtual training programs for families and caregivers of people with special needs and disabilities.
Mary Anne has served on the boards of several disability-focused organizations, including the National Disability Institute, Special Olympics Illinois, a SEDOL Foundation and Gateway to Learning. She currently serves on the boards of the Special Olympics Illinois Foundation, Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation, Integrative Touch, and the Tails for Life Advisory Board.

Kellie Fern is the Director of Business Operations and Development at The Predictive Group. She joined the Predictive Group in 2016 after graduating from Arizona State University with an emphasis in Business Management. During her first 2 ½ years in the business, she was a part of the Shared Services team and was able to support and consult with clients on all their business needs.
Life then brought her to Dallas, TX where she worked within a hospitality technology company in a sales enablement and learning development role. Steve, a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, resides in Western Pennsylvania. He began his career in the financial industry 1983, where he worked on Wall Street for 22 years trading stock and index options in New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago. About Our Guest:Terry is a highly accomplished Estate and Wealth Strategist Planner brimming with experience. He is an Estate Planning Attorney and taught tax at the University of California, Davis. His career in the financial industry began in 1987, underpinned by a strong educational foundation. Terry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Planning from San Diego State University and a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. He furthered his studies with a post-doctorate program at the Masters program of the Esperti Peterson Institute.
Terry is nationally recognized for his expertise in wealth accumulation, preservation, estate planning, charitable planning, and asset protection. He frequently educates attorneys, accountants, and financial professionals through lectures and writings on these subjects. He also authored various articles and presentations.
He is affiliated with esteemed organizations like the American Bar Association, the Estate and Probate Section of the Sacramento Country Bar, the Financial Planning Association, the National Association of Enrolled Agents, Wealth Counsel, and the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. Terry holds law licenses in California and the United States Eastern District of California, in addition to being a Certified Financial Planner.
On a personal note, Terry resides in Granite Bay, California, where he enjoys family time, vintage home renovation, and local outdoor activities.
