Captain Ibrahim Traoré has been president of Burkina Faso for around one year at this point after taking over in a coup. The military leader, who has often been compared to Burkina Faso’s former revolutionary leader Thomas Sankara. He has managed to gain popularity online around the African continent in his speeches, where he speaks against what he calls French and Western Imperialism and exploitation of Africa.
In this episode, we will be discussing the events leading up to the coup that saw Traoré rise to power. The events that have taken place so far under the rule of Ibrahim Traoré. Finally, we will examine the accusation of a massacre committed by the Burkinabé military by Human Rights Watch.
