Have you ever felt guilty about some of the people you hangout with? There are some people that wouldn’t make great friends, because of the negative influence they’d have in our life. But if we’re not supposed to hangout with people like that, how are we to ever share the gospel with them? Martin and Caleb also ponder about the time in our lives, when God might temporarly remove community, to teach us to rely and love Him above all others. Martin Trumble, Caleb Bulow
Do you ever feel exhausted trying to live the Christian life? Maybe you’re overwhelmed, burned out, or constantly overthinking what the next 50 years of your life will look like. In this episode of Afterthoughts, Martin shares why that kind of long-term pressure can actually keep us from walking with Christ—and why the answer is learning to follow Jesus one day at a time. We’ll also dive into Philippians 1:9–10, where Paul prays that believers’ love would grow in knowledge and discernment. This prayer reveals that real Christian love doesn’t lead to confusion or blind tolerance but to wisdom, clarity, and spiritual strength—so different from the way culture defines love.If you’ve ever felt weary, stuck, or spiritually drained from trying to do it all, this reflection will encourage you to reset, breathe, and rediscover the simplicity of daily faith.🔗 Share this with a friend who feels worn out in their walk with Christ.👉 Follow Afterthoughts for short, weekly reflections to refresh your faith and help you stay rooted in Jesus.

In this episode, I talk about what I have in mind for the future of the show.
Church discipline is often misunderstood, but when practiced biblically, it actually reinforces the gospel rather than contradicting it. In this episode, we explore why church discipline matters, how to navigate the difficult conversations involved, and the importance of providing clarity over condemnation. We’ll discuss how a well-communicated process creates a clear path to restoration, ensuring that correction is rooted in love and aimed at reconciliation.Disclaimer: We’re the first to admit we haven’t always navigated this process perfectly. In this episode, we take a Bible study approach to examine the standard that Scripture sets and explore the reasoning behind it.
So many people claim to follow Jesus, but their lives don’t show it. How do we challenge friends who think they’re saved but aren’t truly living for Him?In this episode, we break down:✅ The difference between believing in Jesus vs. following Him✅ Signs of false faith vs. true salvation✅ How to have tough but loving conversationsIf you’ve ever wondered, “Is my friend really following Jesus?”—this is for you. 🎧 Listen now!
Ever wondered what predestination really means? In this episode, we break down the concept in simple, relatable terms, separating myths from truth. Whether you’re curious, skeptical, or searching for clarity, this is the conversation you’ve been waiting for.

"I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people." -1 Corinthians 5:11. What does this passage mean, and how far do we take it within our relationships today? Caleb B | Jason P | Adrian T | Martin T

If the Word of God is so valuable, and its study is truly for our good, shouldn't we just read is all day everyday? If I'm a solid Christian, is it better to be a pastor? What kind of work is the most important\meaningful, in view of eternity? What should we dedicate our time too, and how? Caleb | Jason | Adrian | Martin
From the Chapel, one of four messages given at a youth retreat. Luke 20 Jason Pettys
What is the fear of God? And how do I know if I do or not? My life should reflect it, and what if it’s not. Like, where does someone go from there. And isn’t fear a bad thing?
How are we supposed to respond as believers when an unbeliever points out sin in our life?  I don't want them to think that sin is okay. Yet clearly if I am in a sin and if I'm being honest with that fact, it may seem like though I say one thing, I really believe the opposite. In other words, I appear to be a hypocrite. And won't that turn people away from the Lord?  Caleb Bulow, Martin Trumble, Kara Bonnema
Are you forgiving, or do you just have a low view of yourself?
What was Jesus getting at when he said we ought to 'gouge out our eyes', or '...it would be better to cut off your hand...' ? 9 (Mat. 5:30) Clearly, its a metaphor. But what does it mean, and how is it helpful to us? Caleb Bulow, Martin Trumble

A not so quick, quick ponder! Have you ever noticed yourself consistently 'falling out of love' in your dating relationships? Like, none of them seem to last, because you eventually cease to care? Or maybe you've been on the other side of things. Where, you get into these really close, intense relationships. And then eventually you get dumped, and your heart gets broken. If you've ever began to wonder what real and true love is, then you may find this conversation interesting. In this episode, Momma Trumble gives us some insights on why this may happen to us, and what we can of about it. Martin Trumble, LT

A conversation about pronouns. Should we use them? Should we not? And how should we decide weather or not it’s appropriate? To some of us, it’s a matter of common sense, but to others, we genuinely don’t know what to make of this new social bend, and don’t want to repel people from Christ. Caleb Bulow, Martin Trumble
Why is evil, evil? And why does God say some things (that are actually fun) are bad? There's a reason for everything, and every wrong being the nature that it is. We talk about what some of those reasons may be. Caleb Bulow, Jason Pettys, Martin Trumble
