If you know me, you know Mega Man is a franchise that is near and dear to me. It started on the NES, but the SNES locked it in with what ended up becoming my favorite branch in the series of Mega Man games, the X series. Spook-Tober moves along as I am joined by Shawn, host of the Electronics Emotions Program channel on YouTube (https://youtube.com/@iiqulo?si=OKNZVPNnFX72Dgfj) as we discuss our thoughts and memories of the classic FPS shooter, along with some general thoughts and gaming memories as well.Check out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/Leathco Show Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret Levels.Intro and outro music by: Grim from The Lost and Gone podcast and Grim Glow.
Spook-tober is back, and we are starting with one of the franchises that put horror games on the map with Castlevania and a game where they actually were a launch title with Circle of the Moon on the Game Boy Advance. This is the third game I bought for the GBA and I was surprised when it wasn't the old school style Castlevania game like the NES had but instead a Metroid style exploration game!Check out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/Leathco Show Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret LevelsIntro and outro music by: Grim from "The Lost and Gone" podcast

In this bonus episode I go into my memories on the main MECC games I played in grade school along with a brief history of the company that brought us some pretty cool educational games. Keith, host of the Main Quest Podcast, closes his episodes saying "It's OK to like a video game". I'll be putting that notion to the test as I defend E.T. for the Atari 2600, a game the internet universally despises and blames the US Video Game Crash of the 80's for. However, I feel these thoughts are entirely unfair and in this episode, I'll explain my viewpoint.Check out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/Leathco Show Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret LevelsIntro and outro music by: Grim from "The Lost and Gone" podcast
We're going on another quest with the host of Main Quest, Keith, as we give our joint memories and thoughts on the sequel to the game that made RPGs huge in the US in Final Fantasy 8.Check out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/Leathco Show Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret LevelsIntro and outro music by: Grim from "The Lost and Gone" podcast
Cyrodiil is in a state of chaos with the emperor dead and tons of gates to an evil dimension opening across the land. My self and Grim have taken it upon ourselves to go back and draw shut the jaws of Oblivion.....and we'd like you to join us as we both remember our original thoughts on this game as well as touching on the remaster that recently released!Check out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/Leathco Show Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret LevelsIntro and outro music by: Grim from "The Lost and Gone" podcast

Episode 110 - Pac-Man

2025-07-1830:59

We're getting Pac-Man Fever on this episode of Afterglow, going WAY back to before I was even born with Pac-Man! I cover the arcade version along with the infamous Atari 2600 port and also go on a bit of a dive on all the merch and legacy this game started. Slaje joins this episode as we tackle a classic action RPG on the SNES that is often fondly remembered but not talked about as much as many others with Illusion of Gaia. This game had many moments that dealt with subject matter that often isn't even handled in todays modern games along with a unique level up mechanic that I haven't seen since.Check out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/LeathcoShow Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret LevelsIntro and outro music by: Grim from "The Lost and Gone" podcast
Episode 108 - Joust

Episode 108 - Joust

2025-07-0920:09

Better late than never! I had the double whammy of PC issues and medical issues delaying recording, but I wanted to get something out while waiting for my PC parts to come in, so I got a laptop and wanted to record a short, but special epsisode for an early favorite of mine. Joust is a game I have VERY early memories of for the arcade version, than it showed up again early in my NES heyday. As listeners know, I am a big Final Fantasy fan. That beings said, I was late to the party for the fifth entry, partially due to how long it took to be released in the United States and because of other games I had played since it originally released. I eventually caught up though! I'm joined by Chris (Xodyak) from Retro Hangover as we discuss our mutual memories and thoughts on Final Fantasy 5!Info on Retro Hangover can be found in their LinkTree at https://linktr.ee/retrohangoverCheck out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/LeathcoShow Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret LevelsIntro and outro music by: Grim from "The Lost and Gone" podcast
Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting in this episode of Afterglow as I look at the game that started the beat-up-up genre (at least for me) in Double Dragon for the NES. A game doesn't need to be perfect to be fun, and this episodes game is the perfect example of that. This game has flaws but is also just a nice sit down and play experience. It's not talked about much today, but if you are looking for a fun, short, and not too difficult NES game, Wrath of the Black Manta is a good choice.Check out the Afterglow linktree which has discord, patreon, and merch links as well as links to friends of the show at https://linktr.ee/LeathcoShow Logo and Artwork from TobyVonDoom from Secret LevelsIntro and outro music by: Grim from "The Lost and Gone" podcast
