Description

Welcome to Aligned & Accountable — the podcast for mompreneurs who are tired of spinning their wheels and are ready to start building a business that supports their life, not swallows it whole.
Hosted by Mellisa Alfaro, a multi-business owner, accountability coach, and proud mom of six (including a child with special needs), this show is your space for real talk, strategic growth, and heart-led encouragement. Each episode blends purposeful productivity, mindset shifts, legacy work, and the beautifully chaotic truth of mompreneur life.
Here, we don’t glorify hustle—we honor harmony. We don’t chase balance—we create rhythm. You’ll get tangible strategies to move your business forward, gentle but honest truth bombs to get unstuck, and soul-nourishing conversations to help you lead with intention.
If you’re building a business while juggling therapy appointments, soccer games, and midnight emails—and you want to do it without burning out—this space is for you.
You’re not meant to do this alone. Let’s link arms and walk it out—aligned, accountable, and anchored in purpose.
New episodes drop weekly. Be sure to follow and join the journey.

Have you ever truly thought about the hard work our hands do each and every day? How about the impact they make each and every day?Have you ever just taken the time to look at someone else’s hands and try to visualize what they do for work? How about what they do in their off time?Have you ever taken the time to look at YOUR OWN hands and see the condition they are in based on your own lifestyle, both professionally and personally?WHAT WOULD YOU DO if a soldier sitting next to you on a plane said "Thank you for the hand cream.  Dry hands are harder to handle than my fear.  Thanks for the offer to send some more over to me where I'm deployed, but truthfully, unless the whole unit gets some, it's not fair."Today’s show is about a beautiful soul who was on a plane one day traveling next to a soldier with horribly cracked and sunburnt hands having a casual conversation, Mrs. Trish Shallenberger - Founder and CEO of A Soldier’s Hands.Write a letter or a card to A service member fighting for your FREEDOM right now. Beyond The Curves, founded by Tamilla Mullings (also known as Tammy), based in Florida is about empowering women of all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life. She is the youngest child of her siblings, Tamilla came from a middle-class family, where both of her parents migrated from the Caribbean Islands (Bahamas & Jamaica). She is passionate about family, community, helping, and empowering others. Many would describe her as "Giving you her last or giving you the shirt off her back.Tammy also wrote a book called Becoming Me: 10 Ways to Affirming Self-Love You can find it on Amazon, which I listed in the description below. I am not an affiliate in any way, just giving some love and sharing some amazing work. Beyond The Curves was developed to encourage women to truly show what matters in life is what is on the inside—and not how the outside looks. It is particularly important to go “Beyond The Curves” since everyone knows that no two women are shaped alike—every one of them has her own shape, size, and level (or lack thereof) of self-confidence, which is usually based on her looks. Many women-- no matter the shape, size or age --sometimes need motivation and reassurance that they are beautiful. Beyond The Curves is here to encourage and teach women to embrace their curves and also learn self-worth and self-love.I am sure you have had, as have I, those moments when we were looking at an ad on television or in a magazine with this “ideal” image in front of us wondering, wishing to look like them. I am not enough unless I look like that. The world does not accept me unless I look like that. The sad thing is, it begins at such a young age and is portrayed everywhere in life still today. To be honest, I have been a smaller size most of all of my life. I was in the Army at age 18 and was very active. I mean, I used to jump out of airplanes. I never watched what I ate, and I still don’t today because I believe I should be able to eat whatever I want, in moderation. Up until I had my 6th child, I used to be able to lose weight and get back into some sort of healthy image, but even then, I struggled with my image. I never thought I was skinny enough or looked good enough even when I used to be 120-130’s AND before kids even. So even though someone is tall, short, bigger, smaller - that does NOT define who you are. Look at Fluffy :) He is super funny, he is successful, and he is not small. He is someone I would, now, idolize and envision being more like more than a tall beautiful model on the cover of Vogue.Tammy would say that it is not just about the body, but about life’s image at every point and curve that life throws at you. It's about taking the proper and healthy steps. Aside from checking out her website, the first step I would say would be to Take the Pledge:THE PLEDGE:I Pledge...that my body may not be perfect but it's beautiful at whatever size I am. I will walk with my head held high because.I Pledge to LOVE ME!I Pledge to be Beyond the Curves!I Pledge to embrace my CurvesI am committed to being Confident, Happy and Positive.I embrace every curve. I am comfortable in my skin.I will no longer dislike my body but embrace it.I'm more than my CURVES!I AM BEYOND THE CURVES ACTION STEP:I cannot go without mentioning a delicious recipe using one of my favorite wines that help support nonprofits every day. So this is what I want you to do:Read the pledge fully through, let it sink in, grab your Piña Colada Wine Punch (directions in the description below), stand straight up in a firm bold stance, take a sip, and read out loud the pledge- own it, be it, do it!To find out more on how to join the Beyond The Curves Movement, join their mailing list, events they have coming...

Honoring the fallen on Memorial Day On Memorial Day, we remember with gratitude the heroes who died for our country and our freedom. We are truly fortunate to live in a nation where we can pursue our hopes and dreams. We owe our freedom to the ultimate sacrifice my fellow service members made. As you enjoy the holiday, please take a moment to reflect on the many blessings that come with being an American and remember not only the people who died to make that possible but also their families.I will be celebrating with a moment of silence and a bottle of bubbly. To calmly reflect on where I have been as a person, a soldier, and where I am today.
