All Geeks Aside

Hello and welcome to All Geeks aside the podcast where I take a look at the In Universe histories of Characters or objects as we had last time, of all things geek, be it from comics, manga , Science Fiction, Fantasy and everything in between.   This is Part 2 of the Hal Jordon Green Lantern episode, if you like listening out of sequence then go right ahead. I do suggest that you go back and listen to the previous one first.   Remember that movie that was released a couple of years ago that had the fabulous Ryan Reynolds in that body hugging suit, no not the red one the green CGI one. Well that was a poor portrayal of the character that I have chosen this time. However in order for us to have a true understanding of this we must first look at 1. where they came from, and 2. what they were envisioned to do, 3. the true origins of their power. Not in that order. It is then and only then that we will truly be able to bring you the best version of this character.   Before I continue and reveal the character that I am doing this week I want to thank the fan listener that reached out and requested that he wanted to learn all about Green Lantern, to which I asked which one. It was then decided that I cover Hal Jordan Green. So prepare your Earholes as we dive deep into the History of not only Hal jordan but also of the basics of the Green Lanterns as a Whole.   So before I get to Hal I first want look at why there exists a Green lantern Corps in the First place. With the relationship between the United States and Russia at an all time high, they even aided in the presidential election. Yes I am doing the Russian super spy Natasha Romanova aka Black Widow. We will learn how she became an Avenger, how she defected from the Russians, and how she planned to kill Captain America. So how did a former Russian Super Spy become both a member of SHIELD as well as a prominent comrade to the Avengers? To answer that we will first need to look at where Natalia came from and what occurred in the years of her life. Crantor also says that Plato's contemporaries used to criticize him jokingly for not being the inventor of his Republic but copying the institutions of the Egyptians. Plato took these critics seriously enough to assign to the Egyptians this story about the Athenians and Atlanteans, so as to make them say that the Athenians really once lived according to that system. This week I am bringing to you yet another troubled childhood story. But this character is nothing short of a living legend. He is Master Chief Petty Officer John 117. Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 is arguably the most pivotal and important figure of the human race in the mid-26th century. Abducted at the age of six years old from his homeworld of Eridanus II by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), he was conscripted into the SPARTAN-II program. The initiative was originally designed to quell human rebellion against the Unified Earth Government as the human Insurrection movement neared its tipping point. John endured harsh physical and mental training, survived the physical augmentations required by the program, and was integrated into state-of-the-art Mjolnir battle armor. He was later paired with an incredibly advanced Smart AI known as Cortana. John and Cortana were the culminations of the SPARTAN-II and MJOLNIR programs, allowing a Spartan to safely carry an extremely powerful AI into combat--an advancement that ultimately changed the course of the war. I feel Like I have been preparing this show for the last 16 years or since the first Game was released. But it was when I saw his story expanded from the console to the movies and you learn of his upbringing, thats when I truly felt admiration for him. He may have had a hard start in life, and even a harder one in death.
