BYU Is Banged Up Before Iowa State. Should We Panic?

BYU is down a bunch of starters and Iowa State is coming to LES hungry.Join free at truebluecougar.com and go post your score prediction on the pinned thread.Grab your All In On Blue gear: https://allinonblue.myswaggymerch.com/LJ Martin looks out. Cannon DeVries is probable. Siale Esera should be back. And somewhere in there we lost count of how many starters we are missing. So how worried are we? Depends who you ask. Some of us are watching Iowa State like a hawk. Some of us are blue goggles guys and it is next man up.Brad Larsen joined us at the table this week.So we get into all of it. Iowa State's passing attack, which is more dangerous than the record says. Aiden Flora, who is averaging 8 yards a carry with no long run skewing it. Whether the secondary gets its real test this week, maybe even more than Arizona. Who runs the ball without LJ. And whether that offensive line has finally gelled, because Bruce Mitchell and the guys up front were doing real damage on Bear's last touchdown. Then the Larsen Line, with three new numbers from Taylor. BYU rushing yards. Iowa State passing yards. And Walker Lyons receptions. Somebody went way, way under, and I mean way under. Then score predictions. They are not close to each other. We finish with the Blue Goggles comment of the day, brought to you by True Blue Cougar. It turned into a full playoff math argument. Notre Dame, Utah, Texas Tech, tiebreakers, and somebody guaranteeing something I do not think is legally binding.Next up: Iowa State at LaVell Edwards Stadium, Friday night at 8:15 MT on ESPN.What is your score? BYU Won Ugly in the Rain. Are We Worried?

BYU won ugly in the rain, and we are not all in the same place on how worried to be.Join the family free at truebluecougar.com. Everything happening in Cougar Nation in one place, plus the Cougar Community message board.Grab your All In On Blue gear: https://allinonblue.myswaggymerch.com/It was soggy, it was sloppy, and nobody is putting this one on a highlight reel. Bear Bachmeier carried the offense when the passing game could not hold on to the ball. Faletau Satuala took one 59 yards the other way. Tausili Akana lived in the backfield. And BYU never trailed. Some of us watched it with a calm face and some of us were panicking on the couch. So we get into it. Was this a gritty road win BYU needed to have in the bank, or a warning shot? What it means that LJ Martin went down early and the whole game plan changed. Why the injuries have us asking real questions about depth, and whether the twos and threes are ready when it counts. And whether a wet game in Fort Worth tells us anything about Notre Dame. Then the Larsen Line gets settled, and one of us finally got one right. We argue our way through King of the Y with five names on the board and a very close vote at the top. The belt goes to someone who was not even in the room for the pick. And the Blue Goggle comment of the day comes from a True Blue Cougar friend who said exactly what we were all thinking. So tell us in the comments. BYU at TCU Is a Playoff Game Now

BYU at TCU is a playoff game now. BYU hasn't won in Fort Worth since 2006, and the committee just gave itself a new reason to leave a Big 12 team out.Watch the show and join free at truebluecougar.comSaturday, 5 p.m. MT on ESPN at Amon G. Carter Stadium.Grab your All In On Blue gear, 20 percent off everything right now: https://allinonblue.myswaggymerch.com/BYU is 3 and 0, ranked 10th, and coming off a bye. TCU is 2 and 2 and coming off a loss at UCF where four turnovers killed them. On paper this should be ours. But TCU has the talent to beat anybody who shows up flat, Jaden Craig can throw it, and Jordan Dwyer is back. Plus every team in the Big 12 has BYU circled now.So we get into all of it. Losing Andrew Gentry, our starting right tackle since the day he walked on campus, and whether Bott Mulitalo is ready. Why the tight ends could be the key to the whole offense. Whether this defense has a single hole in it. And why being a little more disciplined than TCU isn't good enough with Notre Dame coming. Then the Larsen Line, with a twist. Taylor is the only one taking the under on a Legend Glasker touchdown, so the rest of us put our own points on the line. Double or nothing. Somebody's standing takes a hit next week. Then score predictions, all five of them, Cass included. She's still leading, by the way.Keith gets the Blue Goggles and cannot see a single thing through them.We close on the rankings. BYU dropped from 9 to 10 on a bye week, and the playoff committee just added strength of conference to how it picks teams. We have thoughts. A lot of them. What's your score for BYU at TCU? BYU Hasn't Done This Once All Season

David opened this one with a question and it hung over the whole episode. Is BYU at Notre Dame shaping up to be the most important game this program has played since the national championship?BYU is 3 and 0 and ninth in the AP. Notre Dame is sitting at three.Watch the show and join the Cougar Community free: https://truebluecougar.com/But first, Colorado State. Our offense came out and looked as sharp and clean as we have ever seen it. LJ Martin went for 173 yards in the first half. Our backs were averaging 3.6 yards before anybody on their defense even touched them. That offensive line is opening holes so big that David is pretty sure he could still get through one.All In On Blue gear: https://allinonblue.myswaggymerch.com/Then there is the other side of it. Colorado State went right down the field on our opening drive and it got our attention fast. We adjusted, we rattled their quarterback, we were fine. And then the fourth quarter happened. Penalties, sloppy play, two touchdowns we had no business giving up. We were watching at grandma and grandpa's house, and grandma said it felt like we had just lost the game.So here is what we keep coming back to. Three games in, BYU still has not put a complete game together. One half is dominant and the other one drifts, and it was true last season too. Against Colorado State that costs you nothing. Against Notre Dame it costs you everything. We grade all three phases and we are not close to agreeing on the defense. One of us has it at an A minus. Two of us are a lot lower than that, and we get into exactly why. Then King of the Y, five players, and one of them might be the most underrated guy on this defense right now.The Larsen Line results are in, and we have something embarrassing to admit. For the second week in a row, the closest score prediction in this room did not belong to any of us. It belonged to Cass, our technical operator, at 37 to 16. She came out, took the belt, and told us her secret. Then she told us a little more than she meant to.We read your comments, we get into Cannon DeVries as a Tanner Wall type, and we close on Notre Dame.Drop your grades in the comments. Offense, defense, special teams. And tell us if you think Notre Dame is the biggest game BYU has played in forty years. We read every one.WATCH AND JOINTrue Blue Cougar. How Many Points Does BYU Hang in Fort Collins?

BYU is 2 and 0, ranked 11th, the highest ranked team in the Big 12, and Saturday is the first road game of the season. So we sat down and put everything on the record. How many points BYU hangs in Fort Collins. Who has the biggest game. And whether the whole "trap game" thing everybody is running this week actually holds up.Grab your All In On Blue gear, 25 percent off: https://allinonblue.myswaggymerch.com/Here is what makes it interesting. Colorado State is not the 2 and 10 team you remember. They are 2 and 0 for the first time since 2011, they are averaging 46.5 points a game under Jim Mora, and four days ago they put 58 on Southern Utah. Hauss Hejny has nine touchdowns in two games. Mel Brown went for 171 yards on nine carries. And BYU has not played this program since 2010, which means Canvas Stadium has had this Saturday circled all year.We get into whether this defense travels the way it played at home. Whether our offensive line controls the line of scrimmage. And whether Bear Bachmeier finally has the game through the air this team has been waiting on. Every one of us lands on a key to the game, and three of us land on almost the same one. Then the Larsen Line, back with three new numbers. Bear's passing yards. Team sacks. And how many points we let Colorado State score. Here is what you need to know going in: Keith took the over on all three, Taylor took the under on all three, opposite every single time. One of those guys is going to be very quiet next week. Then the score predictions, and they got out of hand. One of us went somewhere nobody at the table saw coming. Cass came in off the board with hers too.The Blue Goggle Award goes to a Utah fan this week. We did not see that coming either, and honestly it made our day.We close with breakout player calls, which is really us filling out next week's King of the Y before a snap gets played. Two interceptions from one guy. A corner most of you have never heard of. And a running back who still has not had his game this season.BYU at Colorado State. Saturday, 5:30 on CBS.Drop your score prediction and your three Larsen Line calls in the comments. We read every one, and we steal the good ones.Shout out to Drew Stevens, friend of the show, who got us into the Arizona game. That offer stands for anybody else.
