The world undoubtedly moves at a faster pace today than it did during any previous period of Church history but historian Rachel Cope is a believer that, in all generations, God often aids our conversion by inviting us (and sometimes forcing us) to slow down. Monte Deere and his brother Michael were born just 14 months apart—the kind of brothers who shared a bedroom—and a paper route—even when they didn’t have to. So, when Michael took his own life while Monte and his wife were serving as mission leaders in the Spain Malaga Mission, Monte found himself grieving in a foreign country far away from his family. Since returning home, Monte has dealt with health challenges that have disrupted his own quality of life—even causing him to be released from a church calling he loved. On this week’s episode, Monte shares how he has been a recipient of the balm that only the Savior can provide. “I think being all in for Him is creating a little space for Him, listening to Him say, ‘Come, let me pick you up. Let me brush you off. Let me apply a little salve, a little balm. And let me give you some bread and some spiritual water. Let me clean you from the inside out and then you can be back being all in on the things that you choose but give me room, give me space. Let me love you. Please do not let anyone dislike me or betray me, and above all, do not ever let me feel forsaken by Thee or those I love. In fact, Lord, be careful to keep me from all the experiences that made Thee divine. And then, when the rough sledding by everyone else is over, please let me come and dwell with Thee, where I can boast about how similar our strengths and our characters are as I float along on my cloud of comfortable Christianity.” https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2020/10/57holland?lang=eng Morgan’s Interview with Kate Bowler- https://www.deseret.com/2018/5/18/20645268/q-a-duke-divinity-school-s-kate-bowler-explains-how-cancer-has-helped-her-appreciate-life-god-s-love/

This episode was great. I love country music and I was so glad to hear that there are people in the industry from my faith. I knew only about She'daisy, who have faded out and moved on with families. I wish my kids could attend Brother Martin's Seminary class. The youth (and everyone else) of this world need more positive lyrics in their music.

Listening to these claims after the post pandemic facts of have emerged making so much of them just propaganda and skewed if not profit driven good enough for profit science is frustrating and sad. I wish the church hadn't been so coercive and belittling to those who received the inspiration and doctor advised counsel to not accept these shots. Too many untimely deaths and adverse reactions causing severe and often permanent damage to previously healthy people. This was a lab created super virus paid for by our own government. Unbelievably sad.
Love this interview!
Morgan! Hahaha! People comment about your voice!?! That’s one of the things I love about your podcast! Also, I love your thoughtful questions, your validating and relevant responses, and vulnerability with your guests! One of my favorite podcasts! Thank you!
Such an amazing collection of truths for every parent and every person with mental health challenges!
I thought this was going to be another podcast that extolled the virtues of motherhood and how women contribute to that part of the gospel. But Lynne's comment at the end (paraphrasing here) that we are "measuring the wrong thing" when comparing men's and women's responsibilities in the church just opened a whole new thought pattern for me. Instead, she said that we should be focusing on how we are serving as disciples of Christ - that should be our measure of what is represented in His church. ♥️
Just wanted Julie and Dave to know I to, was one of those many Heaton’s wandering up and down Main Street in Moccasin my grandmother was Amy Heaton Esplin, sitting on the church lawn that day it occurred to me that I shared the same DNA with at least 75% of all these strangers. To me that’s pretty amazing and second I thought of Grandma Heaton( Lucy) she said her one her favorite thing to do was to sit and watch her children and grandchildren at play across the street at the school. I’m pretty sure she was there that day with Grandpa Heaton (Jonathan) and Grandma Heaton (Amy) in spirit what must they have thought of all of us gathered together to honor their legacy that grew out the love they had for each other it gives me strength just thinking of the well of support we have on both sides of the veil
I have listened to most of the episode on this podcast and this is by far one of the best. Kate and Brett had such unique insight into how we need to fall in love with the gospel. After listening to them talk I wanted to move to Oklahoma and be their neighbors so I could have deep conversations about the gospel and life in the second half.
So glad I listened to this episode! it was very enlightening for me to hear Zandra talk about how we need to work through uncomfortable situations not by avoiding them, but by letting the Holy Spirit be the comforter and bring peace to the moment. Such a good reminder for me of his role in our lives.
I am just catching up on the podcasts. I am binging you Morgan. I have had a beautiful experience with a stake president and I love to see when the spirit of God works though other people.
what a beautiful person. I can relate to the part of not knowing who you are anymore after going through a hard time. Such encouraging words.
Fabulous interview. thanks to Keith & Brooke for sharing and being so vulnerable.
love love love this podcast so much! so inspiring and uplifting!!
This transaction thinking comes from the scripture that there is a punishment/reward attached to each commandment. And the Lord tells us in the D & C 82:10 I am bound when u do what I say. Is this faulty thinking?
Thank you so much for doing this podcast. this is so good to learn and hear how much love there is from the leaders from the Lord and it's been a paradigm shift for me.
sorry. that sounded snarky. I am just in a very different place, but that is one of the greatest things of the gospel and the Lord. so many different people from different walks of life and he makes sure we have what we need to learn and grow.
I have to admit that this podcast was hard for me because I have never had a fairytale life. Things have always been a....fight or struggle in my life. From a young age life has been hard. I understand that the Lord will make things fair on the other side, but my 2020 was so hard with 4 funerals and, dead dog and covid and broken knee and more. I just sometimes feel frustrated to hear how someone else is having a good time when I am awash in grief.
I have been so blessed by listening to these podcasts!! Recently my family has had some very difficult experiences. It has been hard to face up to the trials. This conversation has been healing and I know I will listen again to gain strength, to gain power, to gain insights to move forward. Thank you!!!!
