With the constant occurrence of ASUU strikes and Nigeria's poor educational system, Studying abroad may appear to be an excellent option. With a diverse population and a reputation for prestigious education, the United Kingdom and the United States are natural destinations for international students. Today's guest speaker, Faith Adeleke, discusses how to apply to schools in both countries, undergraduate study qualifications, preparing your papers, what to expect, history, culture, finding accommodation, side hustles, and financial planning, among other topics. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message
Beyond The Mask NEW EPISODE of @allthingsteenpodcast available on all streaming platforms!! (EP. 39) Beyond The Mask What's up, family! Today, we are discussing the concept of going beyond the mask. A mask is defined as a covering for all or part of the face, worn as a disguise, or to amuse or frighten others. We all wear them, don't we? Behind every mask lies a lot of stories - tales of pain, struggles, failures and triumphs. Sometimes, we were this mask intentionally, and other times, innocently. Yet, somehow we all don masks to conceal our true selves from the world. But what lies beneath? What secrets do we keep hidden, even from ourselves? What is behind our masks? What truths do you conceal, and what lies are waiting to be revealed? It's quite the challenge because sometimes we try to label who we are. And the most terrifying part is that society often celebrates mask wearers and not the vulnerable. Akintunde and Ade lead us through several conversations exploring the beauty in unveiling our masks and celebrating our vulnerability. Thanks for tuning in, and remember to hit that like button and subscribe for more thought-provoking content. Make sure to leave a comment if you enjoyed this episode! As part of the Dyslexia Awareness Month in October, we have created a podcast that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about Dyslexia. Dyslexia is explained as a learning difficulty that affects the ability to read or spell clearly.    This episode aims to change how dyslexics are viewed and supported internationally by the global community by helping us to understand, value, and celebrate their talents. Additionally, we encourage more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.   Our Guest is Mr. Stephen Emmanuel, a trained educator and member of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE). As an experienced researcher, he has had articles published in reputable local and international academic journals. He is currently the Organizing Secretary of the Association of Nigeria Educational Psychologists (ANEP) and he is a member of the International Association of Special Educators (IASE), which includes the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). Stephen is the founder of Inclusive Classroom Nigeria where he leads a team of volunteers who provide early and crisis intervention to learners with learning difficulties in underserved communities in Nigeria. Stephen is very passionate about training pre-service and in-service teachers on strategies for making the classroom inclusive of neurodiverse learners. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message
#37: Honour

#37: Honour

2022-08-2812:30

All failures in life can be traced back to dishonour; dishonour to God, men, or principles. Honour is the discerning, celebrating, and rewarding of uniqueness, usefulness, and excellence. Dishonour is the trivialization of value and relevance. To take for granted is to regard lightly. A question is a seed for an answer. The seed of honour is the seed of access. Dishonour sows the seed of closed doors. Honour is also the willingness to place value. Honour is a choice, not a gift. Come with us to learn the principles of honour. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message

Mentoring is a step-ladder that helps you get to the top faster. All of the most powerful people in the world have mentors. Mentoring is good for both the mentee and the mentor. If a teen has a mentor, they are more likely to grow up to be happy, safe, well-adjusted adults who contribute to society. Come with us to learn why you need mentors and how to find good ones. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message
Teenagers utilise digital technologies for activities that are part of their daily routine, such as keeping in touch with friends on social media, resting, and completing schoolwork. They also use the internet to look for help for issues related to their physical or mental health, and occasionally they do so so that they can experiment with different ways of expressing who they are. Teenagers need to be able to distinguish between stuff that is appropriate and content that is unacceptable on the internet on their own because they spend so much time online without Parental supervision. They also need to be aware of how to conduct themselves respectfully online and how to avoid any dangers while doing so. Join us as we explore the tips to help you manage your cyberhygiene. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message
What do we do when God says something that goes against a deeply held cultural value? Teenagers have always had to think about this question, and it is still a hard one for them today. For example, what do we do when the God says it's wrong to have sexual relations outside of marriage, but our culture values sexual freedom and casual sex?Find out by listening to the podcast for today. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message
Do you struggle with pride? Have you succumbed to the "it's all about me" mentality that pervades today's culture? Do you behave in this way on occasion, even if unconsciously? Do you prefer to be the first in line? Are you impolite when you have the opportunity to assist others, preferring to outrun everyone else? Do you want a nicer house, car, or other belongings than your neighbours? Pride can manifest itself in a variety of unpleasant ways, including conceit, self-righteousness, boasting, selfish ambition, showing off, vanity, and impatience. These can be replaced with humility. Learn how to overcome pride in all of its forms using time-tested insights! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message
Earth Day is an excellent opportunity to inspire teens to make a positive difference for our planet. We're told to use reusable water bottles instead of single-use plastic bottles, to participate in community beach clean-ups, to buy green and sustainable household goods, and to use reusable bags. But what if, as a teenager, you have no control over any of this? Worse, if you still live at home, your parents may not share your enthusiasm for green living. Fortunately, you still have options for convincing them to change their ways. You might think that as a teen, you can't help much, but you'd be wrong. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allthingsteenpodcast/message
