THE INTERVIEW K+L originally spoke to Alok Vaid Menon about two years ago — or, in 2020 terms, a lifetime ago — and it continues to be a relevant and important conversation for us to share. There are few people who have had such a lasting impact, not just from the show but from life. K+L left this conversation feeling more human, more connected, more aware of how they affect others: exactly what our world desperately needs more of right now. Alok also recently released a book, “Beyond the Gender Binary,” which shows that gender is a malleable and creative form of expression only limited by your creativity. So, to celebrate the book and this beautiful, powerful, kind, and heart-centered soul, we wanted to share the conversation again.   We also talk about: The ins and outs of your passion being your business Growing up (emotionally repressed) in a small Texas town Southern “politeness” Balancing being a strong example for others + being a complex, flawed human Why it hurts when we turn someone into a metaphor and a symbol Visibility does not mean safety for women and trans people Where Alok developed their emotional vocabulary Gender + shame Learning not to fear their own gender nonconformity The psychology of fascism Why Alok is frustrated by the individualism of self-care The people who bully us want to be us Aesthetics as political resistance Violence against gender non-conforming individuals has escalated over the past few years What we can all do, every day, to challenge the current paradigm   Find more to love at almost30.com!   Resources: Get yourself a copy of “Beyond the Gender Binary” Or donate a copy of the book to an LGBTQ youth Learn more | alokvmenon.com Instagram | @alokvmenon Twitter | @alokvmenon YouTube | youtube.com/channel/UCG_G2mCoGdNUIOPaPrgorHg   Sponsors: PaleoValley | Go to paleovalley.com/almost30 and enter code ALMOST30 at checkout to receive 15% off your first order Kitty Poo Club | Visit kittypooclub.com and enter promo code ALMOST30 to get 20% off when you set up auto-ship FX Chocolate | Go to FXchocolate.com and enter code "ALMOST30" for 20% off Doordash | Download the doordash app and use code ALMOST30 for $5 off your first order of $15 or more Woo More Play | Head over to WOOMorePlay.com and use code ALMOST30 for 20% OFF your order of WOO Vibez today.   Almost 30 is edited by Crate Media
THE INTERVIEW Did you know that we are spending more than EVER on supplements, but we aren’t statistically healthier? Many of us have been taking supplements for years without realizing all the additives that go into them, such as binders and fillers made from sheep's wool, corn, soy and other less desirable ingredients. We’re finding out that what we’re taking to improve our internal harmony may not be as helpful as we’ve been told. This conversation with Sara Cullen, the founder of GEM (get 20% off with code ALMOST30), brings to light some of the things that we should be considering when shopping for supplements, as well as the benefits of GEM: “anti-vitamin” alternative made with real food.. She also goes into the synergistic effects of food and how some foods work together to create greater bioavailability of nutrients, the importance of Vitamin D, why algae is the new trend in nutrition, and her story of starting a company with some great advice for any budding entrepreneurs.   We also talk about: The early days of GEM and the inspiration behind it Finding out what’s in the vitamins and minerals you’re taking Reducing the amount of filler in our diets The regulation loopholes of the supplement industry Learning from the mistakes of your first company Using algae for nutrition The effectiveness of food synergy Advice for early stage entrepreneurs   Find more to love at almost30.com!   Resources: dailygem.co Instagram: @daily_gem   Sponsors: GEM | Get 20% off your order at dailygem.co using the code ALMOST30 MANSCAPED | Visit manscaped.com/almost30 and use code ALMOST30 for 20% off EverlyWell | code ALMOST20 for 20% off an EverlyWell at-home lab test at everlywell.com/almost30 Away | Start your risk-free, 100 day trial and shop the entire Away lineup of travel essentials, including their best-selling suitcases, at awaytravel.com/almost30   Almost 30 is edited by Crate Media

When Lindsey was single, she started taking solo trips. It’s one of those things she always gets questions about: What do you recommend? How do you not freak out? How do you manage anxiety or loneliness? Being alone is a chance to come back to center and recognize your own energy, and by doing something active and engaging alone, without having to juggle others’ expectations, it can be a great opportunity to tune into your own wants, needs, and desires. She goes into the purpose of solo trips, things that might come up, the feelings around anticipation, managing excitement and anxiety, and maximizing the opportunities found in taking a trip like this. Solo trips are an incredible way to heal your soul.   We also talk about: Why it’s important to be thinking about this now, during this time of year Why Lindsey started taking solo trips Planning your solo trip Spending on what’s important to you Creating a mood board Taking safety precautions Finding a balance of routine and freedom Five things Lindsey loves to do on her trips   Find more to love at almost30.com!   Resources: @best_airbnb Check out the upcoming workshops in our New Paradigm digital series at almost30.com/new-paradigm Join our Podcast Pro accelerator program at yourpodcastpro.com   Sponsors: Osea Malibu | Use code ALMOST30 to get $10 off $50 or more at oseamalibu.com/almost30podcast BetterHelp | Visit betterhelp.com/almost30 for 15% off your first month. She answers literally any question you’d ever want to ask a sex worker and she does not hold back. There’s something about what she does that is incredibly healing and therapeutic. Krista has been on a long healing journey to recover from the abandonment issues, insecurity, codependency, and narcissism that’s followed her from that relationship. And when you’re thinking about starting a family—there’s no way you want your kids treating you the way you treated your mom. Not happening. This is for all the people that felt ashamed when they didn’t have that beautiful, nurturing relationship with their mom. If you’re struggling in life to overcome the baggage created by your parents, take what you can from Krista’s own work of healing, moving on, and reforging a new relationship with her mother.   We also talk about: Doing the work to heal the mother wound The issues formed through Krista’s childhood The coping mechanisms for that trauma Letting go of your past relationship Releasing expectations Showing up in your relationship Leaning into the sister relationship Being conscious of the messages we pass to our daughters Looking at our damage   Find more to love at almost30.com!   Resources: Check out the upcoming workshops in our New Paradigm digital series at almost30.com/new-paradigm Check out our, previous workshops, courses, and new merch collection at shopalmost30.com   Sponsors: Olipop | Visit drinkolipop.com and use code ALMOST30 for 20% off the variety 12-pack Dropps | Save 25% off your first purchase using promo code “almost30” at dropps.com BetterHelp | Visit betterhelp.com/almost30 for 15% off your first month. THE INTERVIEW Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary is an integrative neurologist, a neuroscientist, and the author of “Sound Medicine: How to Use the Ancient Science of Sound to Heal the Body and Mind.” She is currently working in India, integrating the use of sound medicine into the treatment of chronic disease and studying how ancient mantras affect people. Both K + L have had amazingly transformative experiences with sound healing, from ancient practices like sound baths to modern biohacks like binaural beats. THE INTERVIEW Jas the Moon Mother recently entered our orbit and has already been a grounding force in elevating our understanding of our purpose.  Jas is a human design guide and energy healer who is passionate about awakening your soul’s purpose and self-sovereignty. She’s always been years ahead of the crowd, but because of that she never really felt like part of the crowd. When she experienced her spiritual awakening, she realized how connected all life on earth is and how much we impact each other, which led to the realization that we are all part of the same source—we are all God. In this enlightening conversation, the girls talk about human design, Jas’ calling, spirituality in general, God, Christ consciousness, transformation, and our broken views about money.    We also talk about: Being ahead of your time Healing your relationship with money How what we do affects people’s lives Jas’ spiritual awakening Zero-point manifestation Applying human design in your life Reprogramming your life for the life you want The connection between human design and purpose   Find more to love at almost30.com!   Resources: moondustourmother.com Instagram: @themoon.mother Divinely Human Podcast New Paradigm Workshop 10/14: Human Design for Your Money Alignment and Purpose with Jas The Moon Mother Check out the upcoming workshops in our New Paradigm digital series at almost30.com/new-paradigm   Sponsors: Laird Superfoods Use code ALMOST30 at lairdsuperfood.com to score 15% off! THE INTERVIEW One time Samantha Skelly showed up for her meditation class late, so she was offered a breathwork class instead. She was skeptical, but tried it out anyway. She thought it looked like an orgy, the energy healer leading the session told her that her brain was broken, and she bawled her eyes out… and she LOVED it. So she asked herself: how does the whole world not know we have the ability to feel this? She has this ability to be so present in her own life and share what’s happening in real-time while translating that into her new message and teaching, all with a no-BS attitude that you just have to love, and we are here for it. No matter what is going on around her or in the world, she’s found a way to anchor into her own truth and intuition, and she’s sharing how we all can do the same. As we see gurus fall from the pedestals we’ve put them on, it falls upon us to figure out what messages work and what messages don’t for ourselves. We dive into her new audiobook, “You Are The Guru,” how her relationship with eating has evolved, and the difference between surrendering and finding creative solutions. She also shares how compassion creates connection and why that is so important to foster during this time.   We also talk about: How she’s feeling after postpartum depression The choices we face during times of crisis How to work through your excuses + find creative opportunities Putting on the lens of love everyday Why we can’t rely on gurus How to separate yourself from your work and allow your message to live How being a parent changes your intuition Why “Judgement Detox” is so timely right now Advice for starting a consciousness business and writing a book   Find more to love at almost30.com!   Resources from Gabby: Listen: "You Are the Guru" Read: "Judgement Detox" Gabby's Bestseller Masterclass Sign up for Gabby’s free live webinar “YOUR 5-STEP GUIDE to UNLOCK PURPOSE & ABUNDANCE” gabbybernstein.com Instagram: @gabbybernstein   Resources from Almost 30: Almost 30 Podcast Accelerator Check out our new merch collection at shopalmost30.com Check out the upcoming workshops in our New Paradigm digital series at almost30.com/new-paradigm Ep. 257 - Gabrielle Bernstein on Being a ‘Super Attractor’ + Overcoming Postpartum Depression   Upcoming Events: September 30th: New Paradigm Workshop - Conscious Intimacy: A Body & Sex Convo with Chinae Alexander & Dr. Holly October 1st: Free Webinar - Your 5-Step Guide to Unlock Purpose & Abundance with Gabby Bernstein   Sponsors: ALOHA | Visit aloha.com and use code ALMOST30 for 25% off your first order BiOptimizers | Use code “almost30” for 10% off at bioptimizers.com Public Goods | Get $15 off your first order by visiting publicgoods.com/almost30 SAKARA | Go to sakara.com/almostsakara and use code ALMOSTSAKARA for 20% off your first order   Almost 30 is edited by Crate Media

Almost30 has changed my life. These girls are an amazing inspiration to me. I have listened from day one and I still look forward to every Tueday and Thursday for the new episodes. I take away something valuable every single guest. Their guests have inspired me to put myself back together, love the woman I am and start pursuing my dreams. Thank you for helping me find myself again. Truly.

I love these girls and their talk with their guests! My only qualm is that the interviews are much much much more about the guests and their careers than what the title claims the episode is going to be about... which is a major minus from me and something lots of podcasts seem to do, but this podcast is still worth listening to because they are hilarious!
