Podcast Summary: Digital Distractions
In our Season 3 opener, we tackle the growing challenge of digital distractions and their impact on our spiritual walk with Jesus Christ. In an age where social media, smartphones, virtual reality, and endless streams of entertainment dominate our attention, how do we, as followers of Christ, stay on the narrow path?
Joined by distinguished author and entrepreneur Maryann Reid, we delve into the powerful truth that these digital devices are not just distractions but potential spiritual dangers that can dull our discernment and disconnect us from the things of God. Drawing from Luke 13:22-32, we reflect on Jesus’ call to strive to enter through the narrow door and consider the cost of truly following Him — our very lives.
In a world where digital devices become masters over us, the call of the Gospel remains radical: choose the narrow way, putting these distractions under our authority by seeking the kingdom of God above all else. We’ll discuss practical steps to take control over our digital habits, placing Christ at the center of our lives to experience the empowered, free, and vibrant life that He promises.
Through this episode, you'll be challenged to reconsider how much control you’ve given to the digital world, and whether your spiritual life has grown cold because of it. We’ll offer encouragement to regain control, and to seek first the Kingdom of God, so that we can live in closer fellowship with both God and man.
This episode will both educate and challenge you to make intentional choices about how you live out your faith in a digital age. Join us for a thought-provoking conversation that will inspire a renewed focus on Christ and the discipline of walking in His way.
Key Text: Luke 13:22-32

Part 3: The Difference between Gifting and Anointing
- Introduction: Explaining the difference between gifting and anointing and their significance in our spiritual journey.
- Unpacking the concept: Helping listeners understand how gifting refers to natural talents and abilities, while anointing is God's supernatural power and enablement.
- Recognizing the impact of God's development process: Discuss how God cultivates our anointing by refining our character, growing our faith, and teaching us dependence on Him.
- Key takeaway: Embracing God's development process and honoring the Anointing, rather than relying on worldly achievements or seeking quick validation.
Anointing is empowered by the weakness of self. Gifting is empowered by the strength of self. The Lord’s power works best through those who have placed their total dependence on His Spirit. Our gifts work best when we actively cultivate and master them. God loves working with minimum to produce maximum. The more we surrender, the more space He has to fill.
The Anointing is not 'an energy, a vibration or impersonal force", it is the Person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a Supernatural Being who has emotions.

Part 2: Living Transformed: Not Following the World's Trends (Romans 12:1-2)
- Introduction: Discussing the pressure to conform to worldly trends and the struggle to resist them. Start with a ‘Did You Know’ Fact. Todays Topic: Days of the Week named after Greek gods/goddesses
- Exploring Romans 12:1-2: Breaking down the verses to understand the biblical perspective on transformation and resisting conformity to the world.
- Differentiating between worldly trends and God's will: Discussing how chasing after worldly trends can hinder our spiritual growth and prevent us from fully embracing God's plans for our lives.
- Encouragement to seek God's will: Providing practical advice on how to renew our minds and align our lives with God's perfect and pleasing will. (Read books, listen to podcasts, get accountability partners, read the BIBLE)
- Key takeaway: Embracing our unique journey of transformation in Christ, rather than conforming to the world's patterns.
Don’t follow trends, follow Jesus. We are called to influence the world, not be influenced by the world. Be careful that we aren’t emulating the world to gain popularity. (Talk about the folding chair trend that became popular from the Alabama brawl.)
Honor the process and the processed. Don’t assume you can wear shoes you haven’t worn before. Show respect and honor for the process, those in authority, and those who labor among you. Don’t assume that you are prepared for things you know nothing about. Stay humble and stay inquisitive.

Part 1: The Danger of Verification: Lessons from A Census (1 Chronicles 21:1-4)
- Introduction: Highlighting the concept of verification in social media and its implications in our lives. Highlight the FOUR main checkpoints for an account to get verified.
- Story of David's census: Examining the story from 1 Chronicles 21 and how David's desire to count his people led to disastrous consequences.
- Drawing parallels: Discussing how the act of taking a census in the biblical context can represent our tendencies to seek validation and verification in the world.
- Highlighting the dangers: Exploring the negative consequences of seeking worldly verification instead of relying on God's approval.
- Key takeaway: Understanding the importance of prioritizing God's approval over seeking validation in the world.
Don’t take a census. We don’t have followers, we have influence. Be careful how we manage our influence. Measure influence, not followers. They are the Lord’s followers, not ours. Our victories should be counted to the Lord, not us. David got emboldened because him and his boys were destroying giants. Stay humble and keep stewarding.)
Verification Requirements for Instagram:
Authentic: Represent a real person, registered business or entity. (The Word of God tests the character and authenticity of earthly/heavenly characters. See Hebrews 4:12)
Unique: Represent the unique presence of the person or business. Only one account per person or business may be verified, with exceptions for language-specific accounts. We don't verify general interest accounts (example: @puppymemes). (We are all unique, fearfully and wonderfully made by the Father. See Psalm 139)

In this captivating episode of "Give Me Your Earrings," we dive deep into the profound realities of the idols that surround us. Inspired by the timeless wisdom of Exodus 32:1-4, we explore the notion that our idols reside much closer than we often perceive.
Join us as we uncover the hidden power of attention and its role in the formation of these idols. Through insightful discussions and personal reflections, we shed light on the things and individuals that captivate our ears, shaping our desires and pulling our attention away from the Lord.
In this thought-provoking episode, we invite you to join us on a journey of self-discovery, where we learn to carefully discern what has our ear and what truly dominates our devotion. Are you ready to confront the idols in your life? Tune in as we discuss practical strategies for locating and dismantling these distractions, allowing us to reorient our attention toward a deeper connection with the Lord.
Don't miss this enlightening episode of "Give Me Your Earrings" – where we explore the complexities of faith, attention, and the pursuit of a more centered spiritual life. Get ready to uncover the idols that may be shaping your world.
Key Points:
Learn the E.A.R.S. analogy as a tool to discern what you are hearing. E.A.R.S. Hearing Test Tool (Echo. Authority. Responses. Submit)
There are 4 main voices that we must be able to discern: God and His messengers, evil spirits, our flesh, and influential humans such as parents, guardians, mentors, influencers, celebrities, etc.
Our faith is shaped by what we hear and pay attention to.
Our heart is likened to a 'gated community' that should be maintained according to the desired culture and output of it. (Reference: Proverbs 4:23)
Theme Scriptures:
Exodus 32:1-4 | Romans 10:17 | Proverbs 4:23 | Galatians 4:1-3 | Hebrews 4:12
In this enlightening episode, we delve into the essence and power of faith, focusing on the extraordinary significance of pursuing Jesus in our lives. We question common self-improvement practices and argue that individual power or discipline is insufficient for attaining true righteousness. Instead, we posit that surrendering oneself to Jesus is the real path to righteousness.
An exciting feature of this episode is the sharing of soulful music from Victory Boyd, songs that have been instrumental in deeply blessing me and, hopefully, you too. These pieces illustrate the profound connection between music, faith, and the journey toward salvation.
We also explore the former systems that cleansed us of our sins, aiming to draw clarity and better relate them to contemporary religious practices. This retrospective perspective serves as a reminder of how the sacrifice of Jesus fundamentally revolutionized our redemption process.
Though Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins, we discuss how, unfortunately, many believers seem to be taking the blood of Jesus for granted. This concern raises critical questions about our understanding and appreciation of His sacrifices.
The crux of our conversation is focused on humility and brokenness of heart, two virtues that pave the way for steadfast fellowship with God. We assert that these virtues, though often overlooked, are paramount in building a deep relationship with the divine.
Wrapping up, we confront a concept that may initially sound cliché - everything that matters is Jesus. While this might be tossed around casually in conversations, its profound depth takes on real meaning when we experience it personally.
Join us in this episode as we introspect, confront our beliefs, and deepen our understanding of the role Jesus plays in our pursuit of righteousness and inner peace.

Hey friends! Welcome back to our podcast! In this episode, we're joined by our friend Derrick for our fourth open session. We're diving into a topic that's been on our minds lately and we think it's something you'll find interesting too! We're talking about what it means to be a voice 'crying out in the wilderness'. You might have heard of this term before in the Bible, but there's so much more to it than that.
There are countless voices out there vying for our attention, but are we listening to the right one? We'll explore the fascinating story of John the Baptist and his relationship with the Lord Jesus. But we'll also get into what it means for us today, and how we can make sure we're hearing the right voices in a busy and distracting world. So whether you're a longtime listener or new to the show, we can't wait to have you join us for this deep and thought-provoking conversation!
Keys from This Episode:
When we focus solely on magnifying our voice, we make ourselves subject to the world’s acceptance- so our volume can be lowered or raised as the world wills. When we focus solely on magnifying God's voice, God will lower or raise His voice as He wills. Whose voice are we trying to raise or lower: our voice or God's voice?
There are many voices and distractions calling out to us. We have to tune out the world and tune in to God.
There are two types of voices being projected from the body of Christ: those with selfish motives and those with pure motives.
Theme Scriptures:
Genesis 3:8 | Genesis 3:10 | Genesis 3:17 | Genesis 4:10 | Genesis 16:2 | Gensis 21:12 | Exodus 19:16 | Exodus 20:18 | Psalms 77:18 | Psalms 81:11 | Psalms 104:7 | Ecclesiastes 5:3 | Ecclesiastes 10:20 | Philippians 1:15-18 | Matthew 23:5 | Romans 16:17-18 | 1 Corinthians 3:3-4 | 1 Corinthians 13:3 | 2 Corinthians 12:20 | Galatians 2:4 | James 4:5-6 | 1 Peter 5:2-4 | John 3:28 | Matthew 3:3 | Mark 1:3 | Luke 1:16, 17, 76-79 | Luke 3:4-6 | Isaiah 40:3-5 | Isaiah 40:27-31 | Matthew 12:15-21

Podcast Description:
In this episode, we continue our group conversation on the Book of Acts. Jesus said 'A house divided against itself can not stand'. One of the reasons why the Body of Christ is not as organizationally influential as it could be is because there has been a deviation from the practices and ways of the first church which was birthed by the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. If we examine the book of Acts and contrast it to our current condition and way of doing things, we will see that many of us have strayed away from the template that was given to us by the original disciples and followers of Christ.
In our third open session, we give you a few pointers and challenge you to start doing the things you are reading about in the book of Acts.
Keys from This Episode:
The Lord wants His people to use the gifts, talents, and abilities that they have been given. These gifts are a ‘point of contact’ which make room for you and the others that God has called to Himself.
The Body of Christ needs to be discipled on how to build, cultivate, restore, and grow a community. Many believers are functioning as individuals when the Kingdom wants us to function as one body, or one community.
You should have some stories to tell as a believer. If your life is super quiet, safe, and predictable, you need to start praying to God for the Holy Spirit to empower you for ministry. You are called to be a light, not a lampshade.
Theme Scriptures:
Acts 4:32-37 | Matthew 25:14-30 | Luke 16:1-18 | Ephesians 4:11-16 | Leviticus 23:15-19 | Deuteronomy 16:9-11 | Exodus 23:16 | Exodus 34:22 | John 16:13

It doesn't matter how much of the Word of God you know and talk about if you don't know the Author of that Word. The most important thing for you to do is to remain seated at the feet of Jesus.
It is the Lord who adds to His church, not men. We are simply called to be wise stewards of our relationships and resources.
We don't need to 'explore' or 'reinvent the wheel' to build the body of Christ, we just need to stay in the Word and follow it, stay humble by submitting our mind daily to the lordship of Jesus Christ, and continually grow our relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Podcast Description:
This is a three-part series on how to discover and solidify our identity in Christ. Many believers end up in extended wilderness seasons because they have yet to find their identity in Christ. When we are born again, we are no longer a slave to the spiritual principles which govern this world, we are made new and set free in Christ. In order for us to experience the abundant life that Jesus promised us, we must be willing to let go of the old in order to fully take hold of the new. We don't want to be a people who die confused in the wilderness because we fail to embrace our kingdom identity. We are in this world, but we are not of this world!
This series is for those of you who desire to live a free life in Christ where you are able to be who God called you to be without having to submit to your old ways, old programming, and undiscernible demonic hindrances.
In this series opener, we touch on what soul ties are and how they operate in the life of a believer. We can walk out our kingdom identity which is a life of love, joy, purpose, and purified passion, but we must understand how the enemy uses soul ties to keep us confused and stagnant in our destinies. We will share how you can identify and submit them to the Lord so you can gain power over your past. You are a new creation! Behold, all things are new!
Keys from This Episode:
- You are a seed planted here for a set time by the Lord. When the seed goes down and dies, it looks one way. When it comes to life and starts rising above the soil it looks another way.
- Soul ties can be referenced as a person, place, or a thing. There are certain people, places, and things from our past that can hinder our present development and growth since these were 'nutrients' to our seed in a previous season. Soul ties have the ability to exert influence over our present thinking.
- The Word of God is your new Source of Identification, that Word more specifically being the Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit helps to reproduce in you the Personality of Jesus on the earth through a process commonly known as 'sanctification'. If someone were to ask you for your 'driver's license' as 'proof of id' in the spirit, you would show them Jesus, not you.
Theme Scriptures:
Colossians 3:1-4 | Luke 24:1-5 | Luke 24:16 | Luke 24:31 | Mark 16:12 | John 20:14 | John 21:4 | 1 Peter 2:9-12 | Hosea 1:9-10

In this episode, we had an open conversation covering a few subjects. We had a guest caller as well as my wife Ashley share some wisdom and recent experiences. We touched on the conversion of Saul into Paul, how to measure your life as a believer, and how important it is to fellowship with the Lord on a daily basis.
Keys from This Episode:
Saul had the documents and approval to persecute the church, but the Spirit of the Lord interrupted his earthly assignment.
One of the ways to measure your life as a believer is to use the book of Acts as a guide to see how your life compares to that of the first believers who had received the Holy Spirit.
The Lord usually will restore our long-lost relationships for one or two reasons: to be a witness to them or for us to 'settle accounts' with them.
Theme Scripture:

In this episode, we touch on the process of how the Word of God produces fruit in our lives. Many of us have not been taught how to receive or come into agreement with the Word of God, so we experience spiritual stagnation or periods of drought because we lack insight into the process of spiritual impartation.
When we understand that the Word of God is spirit and that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, we can be more intelligent and decisive in our response to the written and spoken Word of God.
Keys from This Episode:
The word 'amen' means 'truly' and 'so be it'. When we say things like 'amen' in response to the Word of God, we are saying that whatever we heard, saw, or read is true and we are outwardly expressing our agreement with it. Our intentional physical interaction with the written or spoken Word of God strengthens our faith in the Word of God since faith comes by hearing.
The Word of God produces fruit, not you. You can only yield to the process of growth by placing your trust in God and Heaven's processes.
Our heart is the soil that the Word of God must penetrate for His Word to produce fruit. The "fruit' of His Spirit is a changed life that brings glory to God.
Theme Scripture:
Matthew 13:1-23 | Mark 11:20-25 | Mark 11:12-14 | John 6:35 | Matthew 4:4 | Hebrews 4:12-13

In part four of this five-part series on kingdom covenants, we highlight the rarely discussed spiritual personality of King Ahab. King Ahab was the husband of the infamous Queen Jezebel. While many people highlight the wickedness and evil works of Jezebel, few mention how her husband Ahab was a partner in her antics. Ahab allowed wickedness and evil to reign in his presence. He was indifferent to evil due to his failure to expose and overcome it. Keys from This Episode:
What you fail to identify, you fail to conquer. There is no ambiguity in the realm of the spirit. Everything has intention and purpose.
Spirits do not have genders, they can operate through whatever host they have been given access to. We expose the traits and characteristics of the spirit of Jezebel.
Jezebel will only submit to authority for a season. Jezebel's name means ‘un-husbanded’, ‘without cohabitation’, and ‘her husband is Baal’.
The only way to overcome Jezebel is by brute force and authority. You must stand in your God-given authority and not allow her ways to seduce or entangle you.

Podcast Description:
In part one of this five-part series on kingdom covenants, we give insight into the purpose of a union. Many of us have made permanent decisions to unite ourselves with certain people, places and things based on our emotions rather than using time-tested wisdom. We must be intentional about all the partnerships and connections we form because we are always declaring something in the spiritual realm. This message series will give insight into the purpose of union as well as expose a few spirits that work to hinder and abort callings and assignments. These messages are for everybody, especially those of you who are in business, ministry, single, married/wanting to be married, have kids, and the like. If you consider yourself a purpose-driven person, you need to tune into this series!
In this series opener we give you the true purpose of union. As a purpose-driven person, you need to know how the things, people and places you connect with affect your destiny. Your calling, gifts and assignment can be positively and negatively impacted by the covenant connections you form.
Keys from This Episode:
The purpose of a union is to multiply, replenish and subdue the earth. The direction of union is oneness in Christ.
We should walk prudently, exercising wisdom and using discernment. What we ignore now, we will be forced to pay attention to later.
Before you chose to follow Jesus, you were an enemy of God. Now that you have chosen God, you are an enemy of Satan.
While we are a people who believe in rest and having fun in its season, we also should be aware that we are at war. We are no longer civilians.

Podcast Description:
In the final part of this three-part series, we touch on the commonly discussed 'fruit of the Spirit. Many of us have been taught that the fruit of the Spirit is something you do, but we expose the truth behind what Paul is talking about in Galatians 5. This series aims at sharing the purpose of discipleship, sharing the Good News, and why it is important to fully embrace your call to advance the kingdom of God. Many believers, out of the feeling of entitlement, have the misconception that following Jesus leads to a trouble-free life that's void of danger and harm, but our aim is to sharpen your perspective on what life as a believer really looks like. We are challenging our listeners to fully embrace their calling, gifts, and assignment.
In this episode, we share how the fruit of the Spirit is not for your own consumption, it is for growth and advancement of others. We touch on how you can only produce fruit through fellowship with God and allowing His character to be formed in you.
Keys from This Episode:
The fruit of the Spirit is evidence that you have the Spirit of God living inside you.
Not every ministry is a ‘fruit bearing ministry’.
The fruit is supposed to feed others, it’s not for you. The only thing you can do is see the fruit bringing life to others and sometimes you’ll feed from those you minister to.
The fruit of the Spirit is produced by the Holy Spirit, not you. You can’t ‘do the fruit’ of the Spirit.
