Description

Every scandal begins with a lie. But the truth will come out. And then comes the fallout and the outrage.

Scandals have shaped America since its founding. From business and politics to sports and society, we look on aghast as corruption, deceit and ambition bring down heroes and celebrities, politicians and moguls. And when the dust finally settles, we’re left to wonder: how did this happen? Where did they trip up, and who is to blame? From the creators of American History Tellers, Business Wars and Tides of History comes American Scandal, where we take you deep into the heart of America’s dark side to look at what drives someone to break the rules and what happens when they’re caught. Hosted by Lindsay Graham.

In 1979, disco was a dominant force in American music. It took the top spots in the Billboard charts, and sold countless records. But with its culturally diverse audience, disco faced a major backlash. And that would lead to a crisis one evening in July of 1979, when a promotional event at a baseball game turned into a riot. Vince Lawrence was at that game, and has since become a music producer and documentary filmmaker. He and Lindsay discuss the meaning of that infamous night, and how disco’s legacy is still with us today, in music and in culture.Listen to new episodes 1 week early and to all episodes ad free with Wondery+. Hosted by Ash Kelley and Alaina Urquhart from the hit show Morbid. When 90-year-old Laurence Pilgeram drops dead on the sidewalk outside his condo, you might think that’s the end of his story. But, really, it’s just the beginning. Because Laurence and others like him have signed up to be frozen and brought back to life in the future. And that belief will pull multiple generations of the Pilgeram family into a cryonics soap opera filled with dead pets, gold coins, grenades, fist fights, mysterious packages, family feuds, Hall of Fame baseball legends, and frozen heads — lots of frozen heads. From Wondery, comes a story about life, death, and what comes next.Listen to Frozen Head: Wondery.fm/FH_ASSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Dr. Robert Hadden was a trusted OB-GYN at Columbia University. Friendly, caring, unassuming… and behind the closed door of exam rooms, one of the most prolific sexual predators in New York City. During his 25-year career, he assaulted hundreds, perhaps thousands, of patients, under the guise of medical exams. Those who tried to warn Columbia were ignored or not believed. When it appeared that no one — not Hadden, not Columbia — would be held to account, it was the survivors who undertook a decade-long fight for justice. From Wondery, Exposed: Cover-Up at Columbia University is a story about power: who has it, who loses it, and what it takes to get it back. Follow Exposed on Amazon Music or wherever you get your podcasts. I feel all politicians are crooks for the most par, yes there are some good ones, but in general they work for themselves and not the people. it is sad. personally, Biden or Trump should not run. they are to fucking old and too selfish they should both back out. their egos won't let them though so 4 more years of a divided houses and nothing completed. whoo hoo! also, what's with the Supreme Court. they should be tending to as many cases they can within a year. all just one Americans opinion, who lives paycheck to paycheck!

Good choice of subject. Agnew was a low life. I am in possession of a scan of a letter he wrote on the 24th of September 1982. In it, he said amongst other things: "opinion leaders seem to cling to the fallacy that Jews, because of the so-called holocaust, can do no wrong".

Percentage of opioid overdose deaths caused by fentanyl: Before the 2016 CDC guidelines: 6% After the 2016 CDC guidelines: 66% CDC created the black market for fentanyl when they tried to strongarm doctors and patients out of a complex, decades-long sociomedical problem overnight. They should have known better: it's always a disaster when politicians and regulators try to play doctor.

Opioids have a low risk of addiction *when used appropriately*. That means for short term, acute, or postoperative pain ONLY. The problem is they work for everything; they work all too well at relieving all types of pain, and the options for treating chronic pain or emotional pain are too few or too expensive for most patients to access.

winning by cheating is not winning at all, as everyone knows. Eventuality a cheater has to face the fact that he is exposed and his shame will be far greater than what losing could ever be. This kind of shame is coming for Lea Thomas. American Scandal will be telling "his" story soon enough if they have any guts at all.

so this guy had moral issues with fighting poorly equipped iraqi soldiers in desert storm, had moral issues with allowing a wounded deer to suffer, but thought that blowing up a building full of civilians, including children, that's just the "cost of war???" wtf

Lol in 1932 one man theorized that improving the lives of the most poor and vulnerable by extension improves the lives of everyone. Almost a century later, the rest of the country still does not understand this concept.
