American Shadows

American Shadows is a bi-weekly podcast from iHeartRadio and Aaron Mahnke’s Grim & Mild. The show focuses on the darker stories from American history: the people, places, and things that are hidden and forgotten in the shadows. From better-known tales like the conspiracy to steal Lincoln’s body, to less-known stories, like the rainmaker who flooded San Diego. Join host Lauren Vogelbaum as she spans two centuries of omitted lore from our country’s history books.

Soooo... some of the basic facts stated about the geography of the Hawaiian Islands areunbelievably wrong...such as Mauna Kea is 13,800 ft tall, vs the 9 thousand something stated...and Maui only has 1 active volcano, not two, and some other fact checking mishaps that I noticed, and find a little concerning! Otherwise, I thought the culture (great pronunciation, btw) was well portrayed, and the history wasn't white washed like I've often heard in other podcasts.

Love the show, but nearly every episode has glaring mispronunciations of common words. For a Grim & Mild production, I expect a better quality of care and editing. Aaron set a standard that isn't being followed.
