For the final post-match of the year, the ATP brings you a full analysis and MORE after a controversial 2-1 loss at the Emirates vs. the Gunners. In a match that meant absolutely nothing due to the City win and Brentford loss, Everton conclude their season with 48-8 points, good enough for 15th in a rather down year from the Premier League, but fully safe from relegation under all circumstances. Alex and Ryan bring to you all the highs and the lows of a fairly uneven match in Arsenal’s favor, but also get into some of the squad news and the implications as Everton go into the summer. A final thanks to all of the pod’s loyal listeners and the tremendous club support that has us continue to do what we do – and as you all know; it’s not always been easy. Onwards and upwards! The ATP brings you a relaxed post-match verdict on a 1-0 win at Goodison Park for the final home match of the season. Alex, James, and Ryan get into lineups, team tactics, postive performances, and even look at possible upcoming squad turnover. The trio also has plenty of help from the community with listener comments throughout! LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Production: Alex Johnson Intro: Steve Barkwill Outro: Kenboib
It’s nice to finally have a match without majors stakes involved, although we can’t say Everton’s 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road was the most entertaining affair.   The full power trio is together this week to bring you all a relatively relaxing pod with lots of listener comments and lots of disagreement on VAR and penalties.  The ATP gets into some of the tactics as well as some of the individual performances in a match that lacked quality at times.  Alex, James, and Ryan also get into the remaining matches and the chances of Everton keeping Brentford behind them in the standings and whether or not they could catch Crystal Palace. Despite this being maybe the most trying season in Everton’s history, with turmoil at every step of the way, Everton have finally ensured safety with a 1-0 win vs. Brentford to make it 9 points in a single week at Goodison Park.   It was a match that seemed improbable in many ways; from the long moments of possession, to the unlikely goal scorer, and ultimately, to the relatively low-stress environment thanks to the Luton Town loss earlier to Wolves.  But what is NOT improbable, is the ATP bringing its loyal listeners all sort of humor from our discord as well as analysis from many of our other loyal listeners.   James and Ryan get into the tactics, the individual performances, and finish with a solid referendum on Sean Dyche and the jobs he’s done under difficult circumstances.  AND... BREATHE!   LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
Everton win the 244th Merseyside Derby by a score of 2-0!!! EFC's first Derby win at Goodison since 2010. Liverpool’s title chances dealt a near-fatal blow after Jarrad Branthwaite's first half scrambled goal was coupled by a thundering DCL header in the 2nd period of play. James and Alex are here for an old school ATP basking in the glory of 3 points and a hard-nosed, sp*rited display from Tracksuit Dyche's men.  The guys of course discuss what was a rather frantic timeline, key in on some of the top performances including Pickford and Gana Gueye, and breathe a sigh of relief as the Blues have virtually ensured safety in the (corrupt) Premier League for our final season at Goodison.  American Toffee Vibescast is here! Hope you all enjoy. UTFT   LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
After missing a match we’d all like to forget, the ATP Is back to capture all details of a 2-0 victory over Notts Forest in a massive weekend for Everton and its future.  Alex and Ryan get into all the drama of a match where the VAR and xG Gods seemed to finally show favor to Everton.  While the match wasn’t pretty, it definitely had its share of moments from bangers from distance to incidents of violence.  We also bring in a ton of listener comments to talk about the lineup changes, the wildly inconsistent officiating of Anthony Taylor, the bizarre post-match Twitter response of Forest, and conclude with a bit of analysis of the relegation battle.  We also hope everyone in enjoying Toffeefest in Chicago this weekend – wish we were there – and hope for the best for Beto. The inevitable finally happened – Everton get 3 points in a match with a victory over Burnley at Goodison Park.  While it was anything but pretty, Everton did enough to give them a much needed victory, albeit against a very poor Burnley side.   The ATP explores some of the reasons for the lack of quality from the style of play to the conditions as well as Everton missing several key players.  James and Ryan also get into a ton of listener comments, critique some dubious calls in the second half, and explore the relegation battle in a bit of detail by analyzing future schedules.     LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
While maybe not deserved, Everton scrape together a much needed point with a 1-1 Tony Sampson special at Newcastle, and the ATP is here to bring you all the drama.  From the pathetic on pitch officiating to the poor structure and organization of the Toffees, at times it felt like it wasn’t meant to be until it was.  James and Ryan get into some of the reasons for the poor performance for much of the game, get into the singular individual performance that kept Everton in it, as well as the changes that helped Everton get the draw.  Are the football and VAR gods finally shining some light on Everton?  Do we finally have some reasons to be optimistic?  The dynamic duo and their loyal listeners give their takes!   LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
After getting a well needed 3-week break, the not-so revitalized Toffees were back at it again today with a 1-2 loss vs. the Cherries in Bournemouth. While the result was probably undeserved, the performance also wasn’t anything to brag about as it was a sloppy affair, albeit one not lacking its share of controversy. Alex and Ryan bring you all the details and questionable decisions from the non-penalty to the Dyche setup and personnel choices. We get into a ton of listener comments and share in the frustration of all in a match that could have and maybe should have a different outcome. The penalty gods took revenge on finally giving a penalty for Everton last week and two big mistakes lead to a 2-0 loss vs. United in Manchester.  The ATP is at full force with Alex, James, and Ryan trying to analyze what was a very frustrating performance from the Toffees.  They get into the clear difference in halves, highlight a few positive performances, but otherwise take the rest of the team to task for individual mistakes.  They also ask the question about how much of the results are the fault of the manager and what Everton can do to right the ship during an extended break likely away from England.  And yes, we talk about Alex Iwobi for no good reason at all.   LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
Good news is that we’ve got the full power trio on the pod this week.  Bad news is that it’s after a terrible or perhaps an unlucky performance by Everton Football Club.  The power trio try and make sense of what was a chaotic affair led by Captain Chaos himself,  Norberto Bercique Gomes Betuncal, who finally gets a start for Everton.  Everton also finally create some chances from open play AND get a penalty.  Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and the ATP gets into the reason why. Taking a queue from the discord, is that because everyone stinks?  Tune it to find out! LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Production: Alex Johnson Intro: Steve Barkwill Outro: Kenboib
Despite being on the back foot for the majority of the match, Jarrad Branthwaite's brilliant finish had Toffees worldwide hoping for our first win of 2024. Optimistic feelings were bolstered after Billy Gilmour was shown a straight red for a shocking challenge on Amadou Onana. Instead, it's now 4 draws in 5 matches for Everton, after Lewis Dunk's stoppage-time header brought the hosting Brighton level today at the AmEx Stadium.  James and Ryan break down the match per usual, examining the relative weakness of Brighton's lineup, EFC's ongoing ineptitude from open play, atrocious refereeing (AGAIN), and the merits of "packing it in" to preserve a lead. As always, some insightful listener comments help drive the dialogue as the Blues finish the day 1 point outside the drop zone, still waiting for news on the points deduction appeal.  Be sure to reach out via DM on our socials if you would like and invite to our Discord community! In maybe the ugliest match we’ve seen this year under Sean Dyche, Everton manage a point vs. a deficient Palace side where most Toffees would’ve expected to see 3.  We have the full ATP with you this week and Alex, James, and Ryan bring you all the highlights and lowlights of a messy match.  Did Dyche get the lineup and the tactics wrong?  Does Everton just struggle when they actually have the ball?  Is the team worn out due to all of the drama?  We bring in a ton of listener comments and wrap things up with a healthy discussion about the odds of getting points back and the impact it could have on the rest of the season.   LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
This one goes out to all the folks getting up at super early hours to watch what felt like an inevitable result to City in Manchester.  The full ATP brings you all the details of what WAS a pretty good defensive performance against a Pep side that is pushing for multiple trophies once again. Alex, James, and Ryan do get into some interesting stats and listener comments to discuss the tactical battle of the two sides and how much that mattered vs. the performance of several outstanding individuals on City.  They also take a look going forward to the upcoming fixtures, the potential midfield combinations, and why there’s no reason to feel too disappointed about this one. LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Production: Alex Johnson Intro: Steve Barkwill Outro: Kenboib
While it’s fair to ask "when will those clouds all disappear?" and it’s obvious there’s no money in Everton’s coats, the Toffees still managed to get a point from a match at Goodison and might’ve deserved more vs. Ange and his rolling Spurs.   The ATP gets into it’s usual post-match review with a ton of listener comments as well as a fair bit of trolling on the Discord about one of their favorite topics. This week James and Ryan push on without the Podfather, but still get into the match details and lots of telling metrics that highlight the differences in styles of play, but also results.  They also have one of the easier MOTM decisions in recent memory and wrap things with a bit of a look at the table and Everton’s chances moving forward.       LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
While it wasn’t pretty, the ATP bring you all the ugly and interesting details from Everton’s draw at Craven Cottage vs. Fulham.  It’s only fitting that In the battle of the two biggest pro-USA clubs in the PL, the full ATP is in effect for the match.  Alex, James, and Ryan get into all the saucy details from the depleted Everton lineup to the continued incompetence of PL referees.  We also get into a bunch of insightful listener comments that help us drive the show. As always, we appreciate the dialogue from our listeners. LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Production: Alex Johnson Intro: Steve Barkwill Outro: Kenboib
Ugly and entertaining would be a good way to describe Everton's 0-0 draw vs. Aston Villa at Goodison today. The ATP bring you all the strange "entertainment" and rare moments of quality football from a bloody encounter against the PL Villains.  As told by James and Ryan, it was a nasty chess match from the first whistle.  The duo get into all the gory details from the Myko and Tark bust ups, the variety of strange confrontations, and even the rare chances generated by both sides.  They also take a ton of listener comments to discuss some of the issues going forward – does DCL need to be replaced?  Is the lack of goals more of a team issue?  Will we see reinforcements?  And yes, the duo discuss the potential FFP breach for the latest evaluation period as well to wrap things up.   LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
Sometimes ATP listeners, you get the pod you (in this case, the match) deserve.  After a somewhat boring, yet still controversial draw at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, the full Power Trio gives their and their listener’s takes on what is the obvious talking point in the match – the red card decision vs. Dominic Calvert-Lewin late in proceedings.  Beyond the red, the boys get into some of the discussion-worthy individual performances as well as several tangents that make the pod a bit more interesting than your typical post-match draw diatribe.  Lastly, the ATP goes through a couple transfer rumors and some incoming and outgoing scenarios that may be possible in the January transfer window. Happy New Year!   LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib
A frustrating week for the Toffees is capped off with a 3-0 throttling away at Molineux vs an in-form Wolves team. James and Alex are here to break things down and round out the year of fixtures. They discuss Dyche's decision to drop Gomes and add Michael Keane, creating a back 5, as well as the frustrating decision to leave substitutes until the game was already out of reach. Level-headedness prevails, however, as some great listener comments highlight how important the missing Doucoure and Gana are to Everton's push for mid-table safety. Thanks to all who have tuned into the pod in 2023 and we hope you have a safe and very Happy New Year! Everton puts in a tremendous response after going down 2-0 and the ATP gets into all the details, of which there are many.  From VAR controversies to missing goals by millimeters, Alex and Ryan bring you all of the details, including the outstanding performance of a couple of substitutes in Danjuma and Andre Gomes.  Were Everton hard done by the officials?  Did they deserve points in this one?  Many thanks to the listeners for providing fantastic feedback and helping to drive yet another episode.
