Podcast Blackout

Podcast Blackout

2020-06-0701:261

In light of this week’s demonstrations against racial violence and police brutality in America, it did not feel right for us to disregard the current climate and post an episode of ATWWD. Instead, as white folks, we feel it’s time to step out of frame and listen, learn, and absorb from Black voices, before taking action. Instead, And That’s Why We Drink has decided, alongside several other podcasts, to participate in the Podcast Blackout in support of and in solidarity with this week’s demonstrations against police brutality and racial violence in America. Instead of listening to this week’s episode, we urge you to take this time to do what you can to join the fight against racial injustice. If you are unable to protest, there are still countless ways to directly help the protest efforts. If you have the means, please consider donating to Campaign Zero, Reclaim the Block, the Black Visions Collective, or countless other local and national initiatives. You can also spend this time joining the clean-up efforts in your city, or educating yourself, family, and friends about the events that have let up to the current state of our country. Please visit tinyurl.com/blmforever for an extensive list of places to donate, petitions to sign, and tips for protesting safely. Thank you, and we’ll be back next week. For now, we urge you to take action. Whatever you do, don’t do nothing. White silence is white violence.

Happy to turn this off with your BLM bs. "Didn't want to look like shitty white people". WOW. The color of your skin doesn't make you a shitty person. Your character, your integrity, your work ethic, your morality, or should I say lack thereof, make you a shitty person. Another outlet spewing the dividing bs that is ruining this great country.

Corrupt cops covered that up. Honestly it was probably a cop who did it, or someone close to them. I know it's still technically open, but in light of all other bullshit going on in this country rn, they should get outside investigators to redo that whole thing. Pigs 🐖👮

Em and Christine are the real deal. Their insights, razor sharp sense of humor, and sincerity keep us coming back for more incredible, yet true, stories. Their friendship and kindness bring joy for us listeners. Recommended with confidence.

It's so weird listening to that crime because I'm currently working in Lacey. And I mean very currently, as in I'm writing this on the job. And I grew up in Yelm, a town over from Tenino that my family and I drove through often to go to our grandparents. I rode the Northwest Trail (which is also a popular running path) that went through Tenino on my bike during the time that meat salesman was still out there and when the investigation was going, but don't remember because I was a sheltered child. This hits hella close to home. probably the closest crime I've heard of in relation to me.
