In June 2016, American Joshua Holt traveled to Venezuela to get married. As part of a crackdown on crime under the government of Nicolás Maduro, he and his wife were suddenly rounded up and taken to El Helicoide, a now-infamous prison in the heart of Caracas, known for torture, physical violence and overcrowding. They would spend the next two years there. With the help of journalist Becky Bruce, Josh tells the story of how they managed to find Hope in Darkness.Subscribe today: wondery.fm/horrorhillHiD

Everyone Google exactly how horrific starving to death is and all I can say is it took a lot of effort to waste away. Thank God for #Em's laugh or IDK if I'd survive this episode.

I lived in Springfield at the time of and she's still hard to believe. HBO did a great documentary and I'm pretty sure they were both in on the con but the "kid" wanted out and had no one to believe her so she had her mom killed.

I've always wanted to visit The Sallie House. I'm only about 3hrs away but I never get a chance to get there. I'm so like Em about spooky stuff, Halloween (I save up for it even if it's to buy a decorative piece I'm leaving up all year), milkshakes, and my love for making props for Halloween costumes and I even do it for my friends. Everything from wands, fake weapons, and basically anything you can resin cast or make from sculpie/fimo clay.

"Taking care of wasted space" was basically the motto of Gary Ridgeway AKA The Green River Serial Killer. My ex worked in the funeral industry and the foot wouldn't bleed. It might seep until the blood clots but that's about it. Dead people don't bleed and morticians have to accept an artery to drain blood and embalm the body. Lorena Bobbitt was horrifically beaten and raped by her husband for years before she snapped and cut his junk off. From what I remember about her side of the story, if it was even 1/4 true I don't think anyone would blame her. He then showed exactly how classy he is by doing slanderous interviews about her and then made several porn films to "prove" he was "still a man." TBH I wish the police hadn't found it as I'm sure he'd do it again.

Banana and honey milkshakes or smoothies help a hangover because of the nutrients in the banana and milk will help hydrate you and boost you up. Honey will instantly raise your blood sugar taking care of the two main causes of hangovers, dehydration and low blood sugar.

I heard voices that played quietly during the audio. So much so that I took my headphones out twice during this show because I thought there was a person around. My brain went straight to 'Oh my gosh my psychic power has started!' and I thought that I was hearing ghosts at your house. Only at the end did I put it together. Well played and damn im guliable.

from the cdc site: Toxoplasmosis is considered to be a leading cause of death attributed to foodborne illness in the United States. More than 40 million men, women, and children in the U.S. carry the Toxoplasma parasite, but very few have symptoms because the immune system usually keeps the parasite from causing illness. However, women newly infected with Toxoplasma during or shortly before pregnancy and anyone with a compromised immune system should be aware that toxoplasmosis can have severe consequences. Toxoplasmosis is considered one of the neglected parasitic infections of the United States, a group of five parasitic diseases that have been targeted by CDC for public health action.
