Create it. Live it series before we all head into Christmas.Write It. Create It. Live It. is the series where I talk to people who’ve been using my journal for the past year - or many years - and explore how, step by step, they’ve turned what they wrote on the page into real lives that actually work for them. And in this episode my guest is Ellen Rowland - a true OG when it comes to the Goodbye, Hello journals. She’s been doing them since 2016, back when it was still just a PDF.And her story is such a powerful reminder that designing a life you love doesn’t happen overnight. It happens slowly, often unexpectedly, and usually without a grand plan - by coming back to the same questions year after year, noticing what isn’t working, and gently following what pulls you forward.Ellen shares how, over the past ten years, she’s gone from feeling overwhelmed, unrooted, stuck in toxic work and struggling with her mental health, to having a life and relationship she loves and a deeply fulfilling career as a medical herbalist, specialising in supporting people who are neurodivergent and/or living with mental health challenges to feel well and thrive.Oh and along the way, she accidentally found herself writing a book: The Healing Power of Scent.Ellen is such a wise owl, and she shares so many beautiful insights about what it really takes to create a life that works for you.We also dive into her fascinating work as a medical herbalist, how herbal medicine first supported her own mental health and ADHD, and how she now uses it to help others who are neurodivergent and/or struggling with their mental health. This really is such an inspiring conversation to curl up with - the perfect listen if you’re feeling reflective as the year draws to a close or to keep you company while you wrap Christmas presents 🎁Enjoy!x SelinaP.S. Hey lovelies, How are you getting on in this festive season? This can be a challenging time to keep your energy topped up and flowing - on one hand, winter is calling us to go slow and be still. On the other hand we can find ourselves on a treadmill of non-stop Christmas prep and festive activities. And so I wanted to dedicate today’s Pep-Talk to the art of what I’ve been calling ‘hibernation pockets’ - creating pockets of time in amongst the Christmas chaos to rest, be still and get seriously snuggly.Even a couple of minutes dedicated to hibernating can make a big difference.I also talk about the guilt that can creep in when we dare to put ourselves first at this time of year - and why it’s so important to notice it, name it, and not let it run the show.So if you’re feeling tired, overwhelmed, or quietly craving a bit more stillness and space this December, this one’s for you.x SelinaComing up in December and January…1. ✍️ LIVE online Goodbye 2025, Hello 2026 journalling events in December and January with Marianne PowerJoin LIVE Goodbye, Hello journal-alongs with the amazing best-selling author Marianne Power in December and January. Hello lovelies,Welcome to December! I love the Christmas season - the mince pies, the sparkling lights, the music, the crafting, the gingerbread house making, the wintery films, all the snuggling under blankets and having an actual real-life tree in the house dripping with lights and homemade decorations. I also love this month, of course, because it is THE Goodbye, Hello season - the season of collectively reflecting and dreaming. This is the month where many of us will crack open our brand new Goodbye 2025, Hello 2026 journals for the first time to start the journey of reflecting back on the year we’ve each been through and watch our dreams and desires for the year ahead emerge on the pages of our journals. Getting to do that process at the same time as thousands of people all over the world, feels utterly magical to me! And so in today’s Pep-Talk… I’m sharing a juicy slice of a conversation I had recently with the wonderful Claire Venus ✨ over on Sparkle on Substack, where we talked about the journal, the power of reflecting and dreaming and the different ways we can help turn those dreams into reality. Claire - who has been doing the journal herself this year - shares how it has acted like an anchor for her through a turbulent year - keeping her grounded, reminding her to pause, helping her find the joy threaded through the hard bits, and nudging her back toward the things that fill up her cup.And we went deep into:* Why reflecting back is just as important as dreaming forward* How quarterly and monthly check-ins help to keep you anchored to what is most important to you* Why even the toughest years hold beauty and wisdom when you slow down enough to look* How turning a five-year vision into something visible (big paper, felt tips, wall!) is a really power way to actually help it come alive* The magic that happens when you keep your dreams in front of you, not hidden in a closed journal* The power of doing these check-ins and reflections together - both for the accountability and the inspiration it offersThis conversation left me feeling so filled up and inspired. I’ve included a juicy slice of it in today’s Pep-Talk - and you can watch the whole conversation, over here 🤩The Big Online Share - Goodbye 2025, Hello 202 Since this conversation I have now set a date for the Big Online Share - the 20th January, 2026! Hello lovelies,I’m back this week with another episode from my new Write It. Create It. Live It. series and this one is such an exciting one.I’m joined by Dani Rayner, who has been doing the Goodbye Hello journal for the past three years, and this year she’s taken a huge, brave and wildly exciting leap - escaping the corporate cage (and a job that sounded amazing on paper) to build a new life centred on adventure, freedom, social impact, community and a deeper connection to the outdoors.Sounds like the dream, doesn’t it? But Dani is also keen to share the realities of taking a leap like this. Because exciting though it might sound - as she is discovering (and as I know well) - that kind of leap comes with a big and unavoidable dose of doubt and fear. Navigating that is the hardest part of the journey. And of course it is. When you’re making a big change in life and taking a leap of faith into the unknown, there is no other option, than to hold your nerve and make your way through the messy middle and all the uncertainty that comes with it.Because - as we talk about in the episode - you simply cannot make a change this big without stepping into the unknown. And that is both terrifying and exciting in equal measure. But I promise you, when you get to the other side - and that new career path becomes your new reality - you will be so glad you stuck it out and kept moving forward through all the uncertainty. So today, we dive deep into the reality of bringing about big change in your life, and how:* Hitting rock bottom can sometimes be the very moment that clears the way for what’s next* Shedding an old identity is often far messier - and far more freeing - than people talk about* Setting intentions (like Dani’s word of the year, ‘Intrepidity’) can quietly guide you towards a life you didn’t even know you were ready for* Letting go of the ‘shiny’ path can lead you towards a life that feels meaningful, aligned, and truly yoursThis conversation is honest, moving, brave, and full of the kind of wisdom that only comes from someone who is right in the messy middle of the leap - not looking back on it from the safety of the other side.I absolutely loved this interview, and I think you will too. Particularly if you’re standing at your own crossroads – or secretly dreaming of a big leap.🎧 Hit play on today’s Pep-Talk above to hear some of the golden nuggets from this brilliant conversation with Dani. And for the full interview (which I really recommend watching) - here is the video on YouTube. And then make sure you go and follow Dani and her adventures - you’ll find her YouTube, instagram, Tiktok and LinkedInAnd if you’re ready to bring about change - big or small - in 2026, order your Goodbye 2025, Hello 2026 journal TODAY!Your future self will thank you 💛x Selina This is a public episode. Last week I woke up on Monday morning feeling shattered. And not just the kind of tiredness that comes from a couple of late nights or a busy weekend. I mean the kind of bone tired exhaustion that comes from over doing it for some time. It’s a level of exhaustion that once upon a time I would have met with a strong coffee, a stern word with myself and a to-do list that looked like a military operation. Exhaustion, in those days, was something to override, not listen to.But - I’m glad to say - those days are long gone. Now, when I feel that kind of bone weariness and depletion - particularly on a Monday morning - I see it as a big fat warning sign: that something is wildly off kilter and needs to be addressed. Immediately. And so, before the day had even begun, I downed tools, took a step back and got to the heart of what was causing me to feel so worn out.And within just a few days I was back to feeling fully rested and energised. Which felt nothing short of miraculous. So this week’s Pep Talk is for you if you’ve been feeling frazzled, overstretched, running on empty or just quietly aware that the way you’re operating right now just isn’t sustainable.I want to show you how to course-correct and identify what simple things will help you to unfrazzle yourself and get your energy back in a short space of time. And let’s all agree together that, as we head into the Christmas period, we don’t normalise feeling utterly shattered all of the time. And that if we do, we see it as a sign that we need to stop and take a look at what we need to fill up our cups and recharge our batteries - even 8 minutes lying on your bed, staring at the ceiling can make a surprisingly big difference (as you’ll hear in the episode 😂)!x Selina This is a public episode. Do you know what? I am absolutely loving recording this new series in the podcast - Write it. Create it. Live it. So often we hear podcasts filled with the voices of celebrities or experts — and don’t get me wrong, I love inviting experts onto Another Way to offer up their advice and insights into how to design a life you love. But there’s something that feels quietly rebellious and deeply moving about dedicating a series to ordinary people - people like you and me - who are courageously going after their dreams and learning how to create ways of living and working that truly work for them. And today’s conversation is such a beautiful example of that.I’m joined by Annelie Wambeek who’s been using the Goodbye Hello journal (and been a member of the club) for the past three years.Having been through periods of anxiety and depression in her life - and after many years of feeling trapped in a corporate job that eventually burnt her out - Annelie has gone on to change career and create a way of living and working that really works for her.In this episode we talk about:* How the combination of the journal - plus the live quarterly, monthly and weekly check-ins in the club — have become an important anchor in her life - helping her to manage her ADHD and support her mental health* How some of us simply aren’t suited to traditional ways of working - so much so that they can break us. And so finding another way is a necessity, not just a choice..* The guilt so many of us carry when things are “good enough” - that feeling that we shouldn’t ask for more when there’s so much suffering in the world. And how learning to thrive, rather than just survive, isn’t selfish - it’s an act of service. Because when we’re full, we have so much more to give. This conversation is full of wisdom, warmth and practical insight - from reframing self-care as a necessity, to realising that “the grass is greener where you water it.”I found it deeply nourishing and I think you will too.I’ve added a section of the conversation into today’s episode and you can watch the full video interview over on the new Project You YouTube channel. And you can find out more about Annelie and her work over on Linkedin and her website: www.anneliewambeek.comAnd if you’d like to come and join the club that is designed to help you create a life that you get to thrive in - then come and check it out over here.Hope to see you in there!x Selina This is a public episode. Hi lovelies, Guess what? I’ve launched a brand new series - Write it. Create it. Live it - dedicated to celebrating and exploring the ways that Goodbye, Hello journal fans have gone after their dreams and designed lives they love. And wow, are we kicking off with a juicy one! At the start of the year Genelle Aldred wrote a clear picture of her dream life in the pages of her ‘Goodbye 2024, Hello 2025’ journal. After years of being single she was ready for a romantic relationship and as she dreamed of her future, sitting in her flat in London, she pictured herself living with her partner and his family in a two storey townhouse, with a beautiful kitchen and a garden. Two months later, she was living that dream life. I KNOW.Even I - as a long-term believer that we are here to turn our dreams into reality - could not believe how quickly it all happened. And so I had to have Genelle as the first guest on my new brand series: Write It, Create It, Live It - celebrating real people who’ve used the Goodbye Hello journal to design lives they love, and exploring how those written dreams have become reality.Because I truly believe that we all have a very real kind of magic at our fingertips - the power to dream things up and then make them happen. But the speed at which Genelle went from dream to reality is something I don’t often see. And so I invited her to be the first guest on the series, so that we could unpack it all and take a look at what had been some of the key factors that had helped to make that big dream come true. You can watch the full conversation over on the brand new over on the Project You YouTube channel (please do subscribe and give it a thumbs up - it helps so much!). But for now, I wanted to share a powerful clip from our conversation - that I think will give you a lot to think about. So hit play, tune in and then come back and let me know what you think. Did she manifest it, was it down to luck, or was it simply that she was finally ready to take her dream seriously. Maybe it was a mixture of all three. I’d love to hear what you think. And if you want to find out more and connect with Genelle (I highly recommend her podcast) here are her links:genellealdred.comframeshiftadvisory.comlinkedin.com/in/genellealdred/Repeat That Again Please - her brilliant podcastAnd her brilliant books: Communicate for Change and The Confident MindsetAnd if you haven’t yet ordered your Goodbye 2025, Hello 2026 journal yet, don’t leave it too late. You know that feeling when you open a brand-new planner - full of hope - only to find yourself totally uninspired or overwhelmed by it, the moment you start to use it?That’s me - every time. I have never found a planner that works for me. I want something that feels simple and enjoyable to use, while actually helping me to do the things I want to do. But I have always found that traditional planners are simply not designed for creative, busy, slightly-chaotic brains like mine. They’re too grey, too rigid, too boring. So for some time now I’ve been dreaming of creating Project You life design tools that do work for brains that need simplicity, inspiration and dopamine colours to stay on track and engaged in their plans. Tools that will help you and me design our lives, plan our weeks, and turn our dreams and ideas into reality (without burning out in the process). And so in today’s Pep-Talk I dive into the topic of getting things done - and the importance of getting all the to-dos out of our heads, onto a page and into a system. I invite you to take a look at the systems that you are currently using - what’s working and what’s not - and what you could add to make your system even more effective. And then I’d love to hear from! 💡 I’ve made a super-quick survey to find out what’s missing for you when it comes to planning, staying on track, and getting things done and what Project You life design tools and support you’d most love me to create next!I’m running a live brainstorming event! If you want to dive even deeper into this with me, join me live on Monday 4th November, 7pm UK time, when we’ll brainstorm together and start shaping what the new tools and system could be. I already have a lot of ideas to discuss with you, but I really want to hear your thoughts and ideas - and what you actually want.So excited to see what new Project You life design tools grow out of this! 🥳✨🗓️✨x Selina This is a public episode. Happy Monday! How was your weekend? It’s been gloriously sunny here in London, but those colder, darker days are definitely on their way - so before we get there, I wanted to help you set yourself up to thrive this autumn and winter. In this week’s Pep-Talk, I’m sharing how to tune into the energy of the season, look after your physical, emotional, mental, motivational and spiritual energy, and create your own Autumn–Winter Thrive Toolkit — because as the seasons shift, so do our needs. And if you’d love to go deeper, come and do the workshop I ran for our club members - ‘How to thrive in the Autumn and Winter’ where I’ll guide you through it all, step-by-step, using the Time to Thrive framework. Here’s to candlelight, early nights, and feeling grounded and energised all winter long.x Selina This is a public episode. What if the reason you’ve been feeling stuck, flat, or a little “off” lately isn’t because you’re doing anything wrong… but because somewhere along the way, you swapped your Plan A for a safer Plan B? The dream that once lit you up got quietly replaced with something that felt more “sensible,” more realistic — something you thought would tide you over until things felt easier, safer, more stable. But here’s the thing: that so-called sensible choice might actually be what’s holding you back.We tell ourselves we’re being practical. We’ll go after the big dream later, when the timing’s better, when things feel less uncertain, when the world calms down a bit. For now, we’ll stick with what’s safe - what seems achievable. But before we know it, that ‘temporary’ Plan B starts to become THE plan. And somewhere in the process, we lose touch with the excitement, purpose, and possibility that comes from chasing what we really want. This is something that has been coming up again and again lately - in my coaching sessions, talking with friends - and I even realised it’s what had been happening to me before I finally realised that I needed to go after my Plan A - my journals business. And so, in this week’s Pep-Talk, I really wanted to dive into this topic and explore why so many of us at the moment are choosing Plan B over Plan A, how not going after what you really want can actually be the very thing getting you stuck and the magic that so often happens, when you do finally take the leap and go after Plan A.🎧 Listen to this week’s Pep-Talk and let me know what you think in the comments!x SelinaP.S. How do you feel about the summer coming to an end?For me, saying goodbye to summer always feels hard.It is always tinged with sadness, as if all the fun is coming to an end.In fact my end-of-summer blues got so bad a few years back that I finally decided I needed to do something about it.And so, I created a guided journaling exercise called ‘Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn’ to help me say a fond farewell to the summer as it came to an end and then plan what I wanted to make autumn all about, so that I could actually look forward to it.And honestly that simple exercise has been an absolute game changer. Now, not only do I not experience anywhere near the same degree of post-summer blues as I did before, but I actually enjoy the arrival of autumn. And I never thought I’d be able to say that!So if you have been suffering end-of-summer blues since the start of September, or simply want to step into autumn feeling clear about what you want to make this next season all about, then tune into today’s Pep-Talk and let me guide you through the exercise that has made a huge difference to me and a lot of my clients and members who have tried it too. Did anyone else feel totally ambushed last week by the arrival of September?! After sending out a Pep-talk about easing into September with good habits and solid foundations, I went on to completely ignore my own advice and found myself sucked headfirst into the back-to-school chaos.Once I finally came up for air, I realised just how easy it is to let life sweep us up and pull us off-track. But instead of beating myself up, I’m giving myself some compassion and grace. Because the truth is - we’re human, and sometimes life is a bit of a whirlwind. And this week is a new week and another fresh start 🤗And speaking of whirlwinds, today I want to dive into that big, scary question that always shows up whenever we take a brave leap or go after a dream: “But what if it doesn’t work out?”It’s a question that can arrive (usually at 3am) drenched in panic and fear, throwing us into a spin. So what should we do with this question when it inevitably arrives? Ignore it? Or listen to it?Well, having witnessed a lot of people face this ‘what if’ question over my decades of coaching and having had to face my own middle-of-the-night ‘what if’ panic recently (because it always happens when you take a leap and embark on a big new dream), I have a lot to say on the matter. And so in today’s Pep-Talk I look at how to answer that question in a way that calms your nervous system, dials down you inner Shitty Committee and helps you move forward with confidence and excitement - and without the crushing pressure that “this has to work or the world as I know it will end”.So if you’re making a big change, chasing a dream, or just hearing that 3am voice whispering “what if…”, this P talk is for you. Hit play and let’s dive in!x SelinaP.S. If you haven’t yet heard, part of my big leap is waving goodbye to 1:1 coaching so that I can lean full time into my journals business. So if you want to book me in for a one-off Coaching Session or Coaching programme, then get in touch - this could be your last chance! This is a public episode. We can often think that the biggest obstacles in the way of making our dreams come are obstacles on the outside - not having X, Y or Z. But often the biggest obstacles come from within. And one of the biggest of those inner obstacles is our identity. Because here’s the thing: we can go through all the motions of making that dream come true, but if deep down we can’t imagine ourselves actually being the kind of person who has that dream as their reality…we’ll keep unconsciously blocking it from happening. And so, in this episode I dive into this topic and explore: * Why your identity plays such a huge part in making big dreams real* How your inner Shitty Committee is often holding you back from allowing your identity to grow* And how to evolve your identity to allow for your new dream to come true without changing who you areSo, hit play and let’s see if your identity is allowing you to go after your dreams or the very thing getting in the way - and what to do about it if it is!x Selina This is a public episode. Wow, last week’s Pep-Talk - ‘Are you feeling ready for change?’ - was a popular one! And so this week I decided to follow on from that and talk about the big moment when you stop circling, stop tweaking, stop saying “one day”… and finally decide to take that leap of faith and go after that big dream.I’m right there myself. After 20 years of one-to-one coaching - a career I’ve loved and still believe I was born to do - I’m closing the doors on my 1:1 coaching business this October to focus full-time on building my journals business. It’s exciting, terrifying, and completely the right move. And here’s the thing: fear will always come along for the ride. Our brains are hardwired to resist change, so your inner Shitty Committee will throw every reason at you not to do it. But that fear isn’t a stop sign - it’s simply a sign that you’re stepping into the unknown. In this episode, I’m sharing:* How to tell when it’s really time to leap (and when to hold back)* The role fear plays in every big change* The one question to ask yourself before you jump* Why you’ll never have a perfectly mapped-out plan - and why that’s okayIf you’re standing on the edge of a dream, this one’s for you!Links & Ways to Work With Me:* 1:1 Coaching Strategy Sessions – There are a few spots left before I close my 1:1 practice in October.* Let’s Make It Happen – My brand new 3-month group coaching adventure, starting September - join the waitlist here if you’re interested in finding out more* Join the club – become a paid subscriber to Another Way to join my club and get the support, inspiration and accountability you need to help you go after your dreams and create a life you really enjoy living This is a public episode. If you’re feeling bored, frustrated, burnt out - or just quietly dreaming of something new, then this week’s Pep-Talk is for you because I am diving into one of my favourite topics: change. We need to bring about change in our lives in order to grow and flourish, but as human beings we are also hard wired to resist change. Our inner Shitty Committee will almost always think it’s a terrible idea and will fill your head with doubts and fears the moment you even contemplate making a change. That’s why, even when you know deep down that something needs to shift, you can talk yourself out of it before you’ve even taken the first step. And those same doubts and fears can also be the very thing stopping us from dreaming freely, so that we can get clear on what change we want to make and how to make that change happen. And so in this episode, I’ll walk you through how to tell if change is calling you, how to tune into what kind of change you really need, and why it doesn’t always have to mean blowing up your life and starting from scratch. We’ll talk about how to start dreaming freely again, how to spot when you’ve resigned yourself to ‘that’s just how it is’ limiting beliefs and how even small tweaks can make a big difference. And if you’re thinking about making changes to your work or career, I’ll share details on how you can book in for a one-off strategy session with me before I step back from coaching later this year. Yep - I’ll be revealing some big news on that front too!So if you’re feeling ready for change in an area of your life, this Pep-Talk is your invitation to explore what could be next.Hit play and let’s dive in!x SelinaNext steps⚡️ GET MY WEEKLY LIFE DESIGN JOURNALING PROMPTS: Sign up to my Project You weekly life design journaling prompts HERE (they’re free!) - this Wednesday’s exercise is all about change!⚡️CHECK OUT MY CAREER COACHING PACKAGES - WHILE I’M STILL OFFERING THEM!
