Description

Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

C'mon guys...I am a huge Dax fan and have listened to Armchair Expert since the very first episode with Kristen. However, the fact check has devolved into quasi therapy sessions between Dax and Monica where they talk endlessly about their relationship and feelings for each other. The last straw was a few episodes back when Monica felt the need to share that she got her period through her leotard in high school while her coach was spotting her. That had zero to do with anything. There was little to no "fact checking " to be had. I've spoken to many Arm Cherries who have ceased listening to Monica's "fact checking " and just listen to the interviews.

as someone who thrives on statistics and logic, this was a painful episode to listen to. Dax just could not fathom that other countries got it right and are having great results. There is proof! I normally love Dax, but this whole episode he was annoying the hell out of me.

I've noticed that, in the last few weeks, Monica suddenly began sounding like an adult instead of a goofy teenager. No more dragging out words with vocal fry and upspeak. Two thumbs up!!

The level of transparency that Dax brings to this platform is fucking beautiful. It can be easy to criticize the work of others (a little surprised to see such low blow comments here...congrats trolls for officially spreading your interweb herpes to EVERYTHING) But there's a certain amount of radical honesty, storytelling, ethical exploration and the kind of "cut people's brains open in front of the world" examination that makes this podcast incredibly well done. It's also filled with so much depth and something I wasn't expecting...love. He puts his love for everything at the forefront. This one's for you Dax, your show is a fucking 11.

Fact checking the fact check. While I see your point, pool deaths are not the leading cause of child death in the US. https://www.advisory.com/daily-briefing/2018/12/21/child-death. it's 5th on the list.

Matt Is it a lazy twat thing? Why do people feel the need to post hard starts when by the time you search them out it could be found on one's own in less time?
