AROUND THE RINK PODCAST IS BACK! After a short hiatus for the busy summer, the dream team of hosts, Jarrett Oster & Dwayne Gylywoychuk are back and better than ever! Interviewed in episode 50 is a new member to the RINK family as the assistant coach of our RHA U-18 Prep team, Mike Liambas. Mike discusses his professional career playing between the AHL & NHL for 8 years including time with the Milwaukee Admirals, Rockford IceHogs, Iowa Wild of the AHL & the Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks of the NHL. After retiring from playing professional hockey Mike found his way to Winnipeg with his wife and family where he accepted a position at RINK with our hockey academy. Dawzy has an extensive playing career spending time in the NHL for 6 years and eventually going over seas to the KHL where he found his groove. Dawzy talks about his NHL career and what made him make the jump to go play overseas and how that adjustment was for him. Nigel played on one of the most iconic Team Canada World Junior teams in history as he dressed alongside Crosby, Bergeron, Getzlaf and many other noteable athletes. Kyle tells us about his career through the Winnipeg Minor system, when he made the jump to the WHL to play with the Regina Pats and eventually how he made his way back to Manitoba where he thought he had finished his career with the Selkirk Steelers, of the MJHL. Kyle gives insight into his love for travelling, where he soon found his passion of showing his creative side through photography and videography in New Zealand. Patti speaks on his unique hockey career, from playing Junior B to jumping to being a absolute grinder for the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL. Aaron touches on having a life changing accident that made him think he would never skate again, to having one phone call that changed that for him. Aaron made the decision to go play for Brown University, where he shortly became a top 4 prospect of the NCAA, being undrafted and having many offers to play Professional Hockey. James has an extensive playing career as he is a former Portage Terrier, Muskegon Lumberjack, Brooks Bandit and current NCAA D1 RPI Engineer. James speaks on his junior career where he began as a 16 year old with the Winnipeg Blues where he was traded to the Portage Terriers and had career had a break through, tallying 53 point seasons with the Terriers. Following his time in the MJHL, Jimmy took a chance and went down south to join the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL. Following his time in the USHL and the AJHL, he finished his junior career with the Brooks Bandits', Jimmy accepted an offer to play his dream of NCAA D1 hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. Around the RINK's first podcast back after the holiday break! Interviewed in this episode is Glenn Carnegie. Long time skills coach of the Vancouver Canucks joins RINK Kelowna as Regional Manager of Player Development B.C. Glenn will be leading RINK Kelowna’s on-ice skill development and off-ice conditioning in conjunction with RINK Winnipeg and RINK Testify Performance philosophies. His role will be to oversee the development of RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna student-athletes as well as programs and camps ran within the region. Glenn brings a wealth of experience to the organization with over 20 years in the hockey industry and last 10 at both the NHL and AHL levels, we are VERY excited to have him join the RINK team.
