The stray dog, meek and starving, appears in the farmer's barnyard and becomes the red hen's protector. Twice banished by the farmer, the dog twice manages to find his way back to continue his mission as the hen's guardian. The Fresno State Opera Theatre and Symphony Orchestra combine for a unique production of Giacomo Puccini's beloved masterpiece, "La bohème.” Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Fresno State Concert Hall. The opera will be sung in Italian with English surtitles projected above the stage. Tickets are $30 for general admission; $25 for Fresno State employees; $20 for active military, veterans, seniors and non-Fresno State students; $10 for children 12 and under and free for Fresno State students. Parking is free in lots P1, P4 or P31.

On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Nelson Mandela Monument was added to the Fresno State Peace Garden. We speak with Dr. Veena Howard, who was instrumental in brining the statue and one of her students, James Myser, to talk about the impact of nonviolent studies on his life.
Dr. Amila Becirbegovic talks about her experience escaping the Bosnian genocide as a child and her work with the California Collaborative for Holocaust and Genocide Education grant.
