Description

"The opposite of depression is EXPRESSION" - Dr. Edith Eger

ARTISTS RISING is about RISING UP through the discovery and re-discovery of our creativity. It is about healing and transformation through the cultivation of creativity and through creating thoughts and emotions that will be the canvas, the foundation...of our masterpiece, our best life. I believe everyone is creative, we are born that way, but we forget, and we conform and get covered up. Creativity is a recovery process. It's the road home we are all searching for. Stepping into the flow of creativity is stepping into healing, and it's stepping into an encounter with the most sacred version of your truest self… it's connecting with the divine and most powerful life force that exists.

Created with community, storytelling and wholehearted artistic development in mind, singer-songwriter (and recovering classical musician) JennyRebecca Ronning, sits down with people who inspire her and teaches on topics she wished she would have known more about as a younger artist - specifically things we don't tend to learn in art schools and music conservatories like mental and emotional health, how to cultivate creativity and how to invite people along on your creative journey and turn your passion into a business or a community, if that is what you desire.

No matter what stage of life you are in - whether you are a seasoned artist or just beginning to tap into your creativity - we all need reminding about how to step into that flow...how to realize that place as our home, and how to navigate the blocks and resistance that try to keep us disconnected. Welcome to ARTISTS RISING CO!

Follow @artistsrisingco on instagram and facebook for more inspo and a community built to encourage and empower you to go forward pursuing your creative dreams with more confidence, resilience, and freedom to show up and do what we, as artists, do best - BE VULNERABLE, day after day! Let's do this!

You are going to be SO inspired by today's guest! Dancer, life coach and content creator, Pernilla Stryker is originally from Denmark but has relocated to LA. She has cultivated a following of over 158 thousand Instagram followers, 120 thousand YouTube subscribers and a podcast called Challenge Your Norm.   She is an incredibly unique artist and creator who is incredibly passionate about helping people challenge themselves and reach their goals. It is rare to meet someone else who is just as obsessed with personal growth as I am (!) so today's convo was especially fun for me! The topic of today's episode is something that came up within the context of Pernilla telling her story and it's this question - What if you believed you could?!  We talk today about all things mindset, how there is always a way, how when you commit to something it becomes easier to carry it out, how discipline leads to self-confidence and belief, and the life changing power of visualization and experimentation. I know you will love hearing all the amazing things she has to say!    You can follow her @Pernillastryker and listen to her podcast Challenge Your Norm.  If you are interested in the Musical Neuroplasticity Course starting February 4th, head to www.ArtistsRisingCo.com/Programs!   If you are looking for more support and creative community check out the Artists Rising Collective! We meet the first three sundays of the month and you can find out more at www.ArtistsRisingCo.com/community!    For more creative inspiration follow @ArtistsRisingCo and @iamjennyrebecca Have a great day and see you next week!
I am so excited about today's episode with brilliant actress and dear friend, Anne Diemer! Anne has acted in many famous theaters in Germany as well as in primetime German television and we talk about so many things today, namely the serious work of play! Some of the other topics that we also cover are how to use whatever you are feeling and turn it into creative energy (both for performing and creating),  how to manage being a "working artist" when you don't feel like it, the danger of judgment, how to free yourself from judgment and how to push yourself even when judgment is lingering, managing the critical voice that comes up in the middle of a performance, finding inspiration in every day life and becoming more like children - taking our play seriously. I hope you enjoy this interview! Follow Anne for more infos and upcoming shows and tv appearances @anne.diemer.    Follow @artistsrisingco and @iamjennyrebecca for more creative support and inspiration and if you are looking for a supportive creative community check out the Artists Rising Collective at www.artistsrisingco.com/community.

I have such a beautiful episode for you today. I interviewed singer-songwriter Natalie Closner, who is just an exquisite and extraordinary human being. She is most known for her band, Joseph, which is a trio that she created with her two sisters but she has also recently released new music under her artist name Natalie Schepman. In this interview we talk about being true to yourself and having boundaries in your creative process and what that can look like, and in other words, creative freedom vs people pleasing, and how tempting it can be to abandon ourselves in small decisions that we make on a daily basis…ooof! These topics are so huge and I feel like I want to actually just pull our conversation apart and continue to tap in to each topic that we uncovered, there were so many layers! We talked about the importance of believing in your own art, not needing anything from your audience, healthy self-doubt vs self-confidence, juggling music business, music labels, touring, overcome challenges, navigating disappointment and expectations and the importance of naming your triggers as a mental and emotional resilience tool, as well as the importance of being connected to yourself as "an artist facilitating an artistic experience"…just such juicy topics! I think you are really going to enjoy getting to know her and hearing all of her beautiful stories.  And on a personal note, I just want to say, thank you so much for listening to the podcast! Last month, the artists rising podcast got 10,000 downloads for the first time and that is a huge celebration and means a lot to me because it's really been a labor of love these last few years! I don't ever run ads on the podcast and it's definitely not something I get paid to do. I really just hope that it somehow inspires other people to step a bit deeper into their own creativity and potential, and hopefully gives people more tools and encouragement to get where they want to go AND much faster than I was able to. So…thank you so much for listening and I hope you will continue to share it with people if it is valuable to you.
Welcome to Artists Rising! I hope your November is off to a beautiful, creative start! I am so excited share this intimate conversation that I had with a dear friend of mine, singer-songwriter KOKA. And this was our second attempt at recording this podcast! The first time unfortunately, somehow did not save to my computer but KOKA was gracious enough to have another interview a few weeks later and I think this one is even better than the one before so…I'm glad it turned out this way.    KOKA is an incredible artist and just recently released her new album, Eudaimonia,  - it's so beautiful and you should all go and listen to it! She is from Albania and left her career in architecture to pursue her dream of music. We talk about so many things, including breaking past barriers, dropping expectations but still holding onto hope, evolving with patience, having courage and taking risks, and balancing artistry and business - amongst many other things! I know you will love her story and all the wisdom she has to share. Follow KOKA at @i.am.koka and listen to her new album Eudaimonia on Spotify!
