We just celebrated Easter Sunday, so this special episode is all about that first Easter, exploring the amazing, unique, and surprising things that make up the story of Jesus being raised to life after death.  This episode is also special because we have extra friends joining in--Nora, Ruby and Eloise, from the Christmas episode, are back with Riley and Peyton. We talk about... how we know Jesus really is alive (it would have been so much easier if they disciples had just snapped a selfie with him!) where Jesus and God got their names from the many feelings Jesus' friends and followers must have had along the way, and more. If you want to send a comment or question to the show (we're love that!), you can do that one of three ways: Record a message as a DM on Instagram (@meredithannemiller) Record a voice memo and email it to AskAwayPodcast@gmail.com Leave us a voice message on Voxer: AskAwayPodcast
Let's talk about special meals! The Passover meal was a meal that told the Exodus story. Then one Passover, Jesus took that meal and added a new meaning. We also talk about Caleb's question: if Adam and Eve was the first Bible story, when was Satan a good angel and when did he turn bad?
What does the Exodus have to do with Easter? Find out on this episode, and see if you can guess our quiz questions correctly! We also talk about Audrey's question: Why do angels glow? Kids can send a question or comment to us anytime via DM on Instagram (@meredithannemiller), as a voice memo emailed to AskAwayPodcast@gmail.com, or as a Voxer message: AskAwayPodcast. Include your first name and age when you do!
God's people were free! Now what? Now that they don't grow fields of food, or live by the Nile river, will they be ok? Can God care for them even now? We'll find out, plus talk about 2 great kid-listener questions! Lyla, age 5 asks: Was Jesus sad on the cross? Madison, age 7 asks: Did God create sin? If you want to record a comment or question for the show, you can do that via DM on Instagram (@meredithannemiller), send the voice memo by email to AskAwayPodcast@gmail.com, or leave us a message on Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.
An army on one side, a huge sea on the other.  What will God's people do now? Is God really going to help them?  This is part 2 of the Exodus story. We also talk about two great kid questions: Does God live higher than the clouds? How did Jesus walk on water? If you have a question for the show, record it for us!  You can do that via DM on Instagram (@meredithannemiller), as an email to AskAwayPodcast@gmail.com, or via Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.
There was a time when God's people were enslaved in Egypt, trapped and crying out for help. God heard them and was indeed coming to help.  Here's part 1 of how that happened. We also talk about: Why God just couldn’t just surprise Mary and instead came and told her about baby Jesus? Why does the angel get to name Jesus and it’s God’s baby instead of Mary & Jospeh’s baby? Why does God not give Jesus right when sin had come? Kids can always send their thoughts and questions to us via audio message: DM @meredithannemiller on Instagram, email askawaypodcast@gmail.com, or record a message to Voxer: AskAwayPodcast!
This episode features all questions from kid listeners about the Christmas story, including Why people say Jesus had two fathers--Joseph and God? Did the animals eat from the manger while Jesus was in it? What are angels, anyway? If you ever have a question, we'd LOVE to hear it!  Record it as a DM in Instagram to @meredithannemiller, email a voice memo to askawaypodcast@gmail.com, or find us on Voxer: AskAwayPodcast. This episode first released Aug 2020, and we're re-releasing it during Christmas 2021.
Join in as we tell how God came to earth as a baby, aka the full Christmas story! Earlier this season we did the story in pieces, but this episode tells the whole sh-bang at once. Got a question or comment?  Record a voice message as a DM in Instagram to @meredithannemiller, email a voice memo to askawaypodcast@gmail.com or leave us a message on Voxer:  AskAwayPodcast. We take questions about any story, any time!
In part 3 of the Christmas story, Meredith is joined by her friends Ruby (age 10) and Eloise (age 8).  Together they talk about what happened after an angel visited some shepherds one night outside of Bethlehem. Ruby and Eloise also ask: Can God get hurt? Will we ever see God? What if someone doesn't want to be with God forever? and more! NEW! Questions and comments for the show can be recorded in a DM on Instagram to @meredithannemiller.  You can also still send a voice memo by email to askawaypodcast@gmail.com or send us a message on Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.
This is the 2nd part of the Christmas story--we're turning to Joseph's story! We'll also talk about 2 questions from Caleb, age 9: If Jesus washes away our sin, how come we still sin? Why didn't God just come right after Adam and Eve first sinned? If you ever have a question or comment for the show, we'd love to hear it!  Send it to us at askawaypodcast@gmail.com or record it to Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.
Welcome to the Christmas season!  Our story begins with a question: if you were God, and it was time to do something new and special in the world would you invite people to help or do it yourself?  Why? Hear how God did choose to do a new, special thing in this story. Plus, we talk about a question from kid-listener Mia, age 4 1/2:  Why do angels have wings? After listening, we hope you'll jump in and send in a question of your own!  You can record it and email it to us: askawaypodcast@gmail.com or leave us a message on Voxer:  AskAwayPodcast.
Jesus Walks on Water

Jesus Walks on Water

2021-10-0411:14

Our story today starts with a storm, and along the way we wonder how God feels about our fear? how Jesus' words connect to a story from loooong before and more... After you listen, we'd love for you to send in your questions--about this story or anything else you wonder about God or the Bible! Record them and email askawaypodcast@gmail.com or record them to Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.  Be sure to say your first name and age!
On this episode, we hear what happens when Jesus meets a Centurion (a military leader) who needs help. We also talk about two kid's questions: Nam, age 7, asks:  If God has a dream for the world, why doesn't God make the dream come true? Caleb asks:  In the Bible, when groups traveled, why did people prefer to walk instead of riding camels? Kids! We'd love to hear YOUR questions and thoughts! Send them to askawaypodcast@gmail.com or leave us a Voxer message: AskAwayPodcast.
This episode's story is about Jesus coming just a bit too late, and what happened next.  Join in as we explore the story, and then, as you have questions or wonder about it, send those our way! Also in this episode: Gabe, age 5 asks: Why do some people think there are other gods? Kayla, age 5 asks:  Why did God even create Satan if he knows he was going to be a bad angel? You can send a question any time, about any story to askawaypodcast@gmail.com or on Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.  When you record, include your first name and age!
In our story today, we dive into a time when Jesus was a kid!  We don't have many Bible stories from Jesus' childhood, so it's fun to explore this one together. Also, Nam, age 7 asks a question about the Christmas story: Were they in a cave? You can send in a question any time, about any story by recording it and emailing askawaypodcast@gmail.com or finding us on Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.
In this QUESTIONS episode, we hear these great questions about Easter from kid-listeners like you: Elliot, age 6: Why doesn't God bring back other people who have died, since he brought back Jesus? Nelly, age 8: Jesus said he would come back some day; why is he making us wait so long? CJ, age 10: Why don't we see angels now like Mary did at the tomb? Oliver, age 5:  If Jesus is alive, why can't we see him? Eloise, age 6: Why do we celebrate this story with chocolate bunnies and eggs? Nelly also asks: Why did Jesus go back to heaven instead of staying with us down here? Kids! You can send us your thoughts and questions anytime.  Have your grown up record you and send it to AskAwayPodcast@gmail.com or leave us a message on Voxer:  AskAwayPodcast. No matter when you listen, you can send questions about anything anytime!
Easter may have passed, but exploring the Easter story can happen anytime!  In this QUESTIONS episode, we explore 4 questions sent into the podcast by kid-listeners, including: If Pilate didn't think Jesus deserved death, why didn't he stop it? What kind of plant were the thorns in Jesus' crown? If Jesus had not died on the cross, what would have happened? Plus, why is it Good Friday?! It seems pretty bad! Grown ups: help your kiddo send a question in anytime by recording it and emailing askawaypodcast@gmail.com or using Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.  We'd love to know their first name and age, another with whatever they notice, wonder about, or think was weird!
In this STORY episode, we explore the Easter story--when Jesus was raised to life after dying on the cross. Jesus is alive! Stories are only half the show, so kids, we need your help! After listening, if you have a question, record it and send it in to us.  Include your first name and age, and then what you wonder about or want to know.  We will include it in a future episode! Grown ups, you can send kid questions via email: askawaypodcast@gmail.com or help them record straight to Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.
In this STORY episode, we hear about the sad day--when Jesus was arrested, put on trial, and died on a cross. Grown ups: we know this is a sensitive story for little ones--we've tried to balance telling the story but not being detailed about the violence of the passion.  Still, you may wish to listen ahead to be sure it matches your child's age and temperament.  Kids: we want to know what questions you have about the story.  Send them to us at askawaypodcast@gmail.com or record them to Voxer: AskAwayPodcast.  When you do, tell us your first name and age, and what you wonder about.  We'll make another episode talking about your question.
Let's get ready for Easter!  In this STORY episode, we begin on the Sunday before Jesus died, when he arrives at Jerusalem and enters the city as king.  But there is a problem: there's another king, Caeser, who is not happy. Telling stories is only half the show: we want to know what you wonder about.  So after you listen, record and send in a question to askawaypodcast@gmail.com or record it to Voxer:  AskAwayPodcast to include in a future podcast!
