The Relationship Anamoly

Relationships are work. Do you see this positively or with a lingering negative connotation? This episode could answer a lot of questions that you’ve avoided asking even yourself – irrespective of the generation you belong to. Hello and welcome to a fresh and refreshing episode of Attitude Makeover! I – the rep for the 40s club – am joined by Harsh (in his Late 20s and married) and Rubina (in her early 20s) The crux: Exposure to different relationship models and normalised conversation can broaden your own perspective. That’s exactly what I hope this delivers for you. Harsh, Rubina and I have personal experiences and viewpoints in our approach to every kind of relationship in our lives that are varied on so many levels based on the many identities we carry – age, gender, life stage, personality type and so on. So, understanding generational expectations around communication, commitment, individuality, family/friends, priorities help us get on the same page and build a bridge between "what you meant" and "what I heard." At the end of the day, it’s about self-discovery and the resultant approach to navigating the most important aspect of every human being: cherishing and nurturing relationships. P.S. If you’ve not seen the episode on MONEY with perspectives from across 4 generations, that could be a great primer for this one as well.
The Numbers Game: How to look at money Hello and welcome to another episode of Attitude Makeover and we are back with another experimental take in the realm of all things money. Say hello to Rajnish Bharti, who helps us in busting myths around investing and in the process presents a masterclass of sorts on getting on track of making numerically driven money management an everyday exercise. About Rajnish: He’s held leadership roles in Yahoo and Adobe, and is now a full-time Future & Options (F&O) Trader. With articulate thoughts backed by research and a spreadsheet in front of him, he takes us through discussions on realistic assumptions, real persons and circumstances which lead towards varied possibilities of money-related outcomes. He talks us through how he navigates finances and the future with the “I use what I knew” fundamentals in place. We keep it very simple: Understanding compounding, basics of creating portfolio, evaluating risk and inflation, and the overarching discipline required. We also have some intangible lessons as takeaways as well! All in all, Rajnish helps us know better about our best bets with making money work for us. Tune in now! P.S. If the number crunching in our conversation piques your interest and further pulls you into wanting to take initiative about your finances starting NOW, Rajnish could help with one-on-one sessions for SOME of y'all. More on this coming soon, stay tuned! Reach out for any queries until then!
What’s your SITUATIONSHIP with MONEY? Ft. A Multi-Generational Conversation Hello and welcome to Attitude Makeover! Y’all probably know how we roll by now, but this time I’ve tried bringing something experimental – about a topic that is very personal yet universal: Our relationship with money. Presenting to you: Working, independent individuals – Nishmitha, Arti, Amogh – in their early 20s, late 20s, mid 30s and yours truly (repping the 40s club!) Five minutes in and you’ll be able to tell which one of us is which. And that is very telling about how every generation and its perspective and perception of money varies as well! We don’t hold back and touch upon every aspect of life that is impacted/influenced by money (which is practically EVERYTHING) From circumstances to choices, we delve into the nitty-gritties that determine how we manage our finances. This includes our childhoods, familial dynamics, life stage and most importantly: our privilege and outlook towards life – the balance between our needs and wants in today’s modern and increasingly capitalistic world. The aim was to start a conversation and normalist discussions on money without the unspoken yet very evident feeling of embarrassment or shame attached to it. I think we did manage that (and how!), but here’s your major takeaway: As you work for money, become aware of your finances from the get-go and talk about it in your safe spaces to “make the money work for you.” Like, share and subscribe! Leave your thoughts in the comments below – Which person (read: generation) did you relate to the most? Hello and welcome back. It’s another week, another conversation! This time, it’s a tad bit closer to my heart because it’s with someone I’ve worked with, I consider him dear and in direct and indirect ways he’s been an impactful, intentional influence in my journey. Say hello to Shriram Parthasarathy, the Social Media Operations & Execution Lead (Asia) at Microsoft! He calls himself a Curious Conversationalist and stands by it every step of the way as you shall discover along the conversation itself. At the intersection of technology and inclusivity, we talk about the processes of conversation which are intentional for each of us to find and hold our own space.Having lived with a sight-related disability, Shri grew into navigating, discovering (and rediscovering) his individuality, resilience and his most authentic self which he makes it a point to bring into every single conversation. For he believes, curiosity, courage and clarity channeled with intentional inclusion create a unique recipe for growth and impact. We talk about music, movies, books and the rhythm of life in its truest sense. From what it means to be inclusive (as an ally) practically and the mainstream disability discourse in India, we learn to not see the problem in isolation. Another crucial aspect of his life: Technology – his own self-discovery through it, how it is an enabler and the mindset it demands of an individual to “work life out together.”Attitude Makeover for him, is “a work in progress to discover and rediscover your authentic self.” Tune in for gems from Shri’s journey that are sure to ponder over.Tune In Now! Table of Content00:00 Introduction: Meet Shriram Parthasarathy, an avid music-lover and a storyteller, transforming limitations into limitless narratives. 1:29 Early Years: Roots and Rhythms 5:55 Mosaic Of Inclusivity 8:08 Stepping Into Your Expanse 12:06 From Notes To Nirvana 16:17 Beyond Pages, Beyond Time 21:38 Fingertip Epiphanies 23:08 Musical Serendipity 23:58 OTT's Symphony Of Inclusion: Beyond The Binary25:28 Beyond Lyrics: The Secret of Music 28:20 Synergy Of Technology And Yourself: Surfeit Of Potential 34:42 A Prism Of Possibilities: Technology 35:29 Divulged Spectrum: West and India37:25 Bridging The Gaps: Inclusive Creation41:34 The Unfolding Tapestry: Embracing Novelty 42:15 Whispers Across The Divide 46:45 Maneuvering The Labyrinth Within 52:19 Unfolding The Inner Landscape1:00:06 Conversation Catalyst 1:04:43 The Open Door: Feedback For Guidance And Growth1:05:11 Closing Statement and What's Attitude Makeover for Shri?

Hi everyone, in this episode of Change Catalyst by Attitude Makeover, I am thrilled to be joined by Ashok Krish, an insightful and accomplished author of Masala Lab: The Science Of Indian Cooking, a book that seamlessly blends candid anecdotes with insightful culinary science. Ashok also serves as the Global Head of Digital Workspace at Tata Consultancy Services in Chennai. The episode begins with a captivating journey through Ashok's early years, as he maneuvers through his experiences traveling from city to city, immersing himself in the rich tapestry of beliefs and customs that vary across India's diverse regions. Growing up in a family steeped in music and culinary traditions, Ashok developed an innate ability to identify and embrace the cultural influences that have shaped generations, shaping his own identity and perspectives.Ashok further delves into the process of selecting myths to debunk, shedding light on the chasm between scientific research and public perception. He also highlights the stark contrast between how lay people perceive scientific research and how professionals interpret it, emphasizing how this disparity often fuels the propagation of false beliefs and gives rise to conflicting narratives surrounding a single topic.Additionally, Ashok also elucidates the pervasive influence of mainstream media, exposing how it often manipulates facts to create a distorted reality, therefore reinforcing the biases.  In India, where the Vedas are revered as religious scriptures and Sanskrit is regarded with unwavering reverence, Ashok challenges the notion of animal cruelty embedded within these sacred texts. He meticulously dissects the ancient Hindu scriptures, revealing how they often condone or even encourage the harming of animals. Navigating the intricate web of Indian culinary traditions, Ashok unravels the myths that have long shrouded the practice of food production, even in vegetarian and vegan settings. He unveils the sobering truth that no form of food production is entirely devoid of animal cruelty, a reality often obscured by the comforting veil of religious fundamentalism. He astutely illustrates that Indians possess a remarkable ability to navigate the ethical complexities surrounding their dietary choices, often finding ingenious solutions that align with their religious beliefs and personal comfort zones. In a thought-provoking conclusion, Ashok challenges the conventional wisdom that equates debate with the pinnacle of learning. He asserts that in today's information-saturated world, mere argumentation often fails to foster genuine understanding or shift deeply entrenched beliefs. Instead, he advocates for a more nuanced approach to discourse, one that emphasizes empathy, critical thinking, and a willingness to embrace new perspectives. As Ashok champions the power of self-reflection in guiding informed decision-making, the entire episode emerges as a compelling testament to the transformative power of inclusivity in fostering personal growth and collective understanding.Tune in Now! Connect With Me: https://twitter.com/sowjanyashettyhttps://instagram.com/attitudemakeover?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==https://www.attitudemakeover.in/
Hi everyone, it is my absolute honour to have Gita Balakrishnan with me for the premiere episode of my new series, Change Catalyst. Gita, an architect who truly followed an unconventional practice as she believed she was doing what she was best at, started her organisation ETHOS which serves as a nurturing ground for architects and students nationwide. Within its embrace, ETHOS harmoniously aligns passion and skill, empowering individuals to become catalysts for change. Drawing inspiration from the 1987 walk of Sunil Dutt from Bombay to Amritsar and fueled by her unwavering passion for running, Gita translated this fervour into a noble endeavour to stride for a meaningful cause.Amidst the turbulence of the pandemic, as numerous daily wage labourers were compelled to migrate, their livelihoods upended, Gita, embarked on a journey that sought not only to fathom the struggles of these harbingers, crucial to the visual allure of towns but to also spotlight the role of good design and architecture in fostering the cultural and geographical tapestry of our nation.Reminiscing about her 1,700-kilometer journey from Kolkata to Delhi, Gita also shares the challenges and triumphs of being a woman on the road. From hygiene to safety, Gita faced it all with grit and grace. But the journey was more than just a physical challenge; it was also an introspective experience that helped her overcome her past and become more accepting of the situations. "I used to keep writing, thinking, and reading about what I wanted to do." Driven by an insatiable quest for good, Gita is determined to make a difference, not just in her own life, but in the lives of thousands of others. She is committed to building a legacy of work that will have a lasting impact, and to creating something that will transcend her own time and place. Conclusively, when asked why she decided to walk such a long distance, Gita articulates the need to experience the sunshine and rain of people's struggles to truly change their lives.Navigating the pressures with grace and gratitude, She is now working on six key areas to expand the definition of architecture beyond mere structures and to stretch the limits of creativity and design, connecting culture with people.Tune In Now to Change Catalyst by Attitude Makeover! We’ve got the whole family for Episode 52! And a musical one that works together to build a business at that! It is my delight to be joined by CA Ravi, Gayathri Ravi, Rahul Ravi and Raksha Ravi - the dynamic family that has come together to shape AltEd Pro, an initiative aimed at mentoring people in the area of applied knowledge, skills & thinking. In their own right, each of them are involved in music - as composers, teachers and singers! Which is why this conversation with the whole Ravi family is all about core values that not only illuminate their experiences and path to self-discovery but also sculpt the very essence of individuality. With the broader view of them as a single unit, we get into understanding the nuances of interpersonal threads including marriage and parenting to entrepreneurial journey and partnerships. Work and life, passions and aspirations, ambiguity and pressure, choices and decisions - we flip and flesh out every aspect of what it takes to embrace growth and success. And when they say it takes a village, it surely does start from the home with a family that sticks together. This conversation, like this family, is multi-faceted. There’s a takeaway for every generation. Or simply, for every entrepreneur who must and should have their family on their side in any possible capacity of support. Welcome to Episode Number 51!  It’s my absolute delight to have Devi Mani as the guest for this episode who drove the point that there’s nothing more impactful than ‘conversation’. Devi is a corporate professional turned entrepreneur and the founder of Skooc, a health tech start-up focussed on children's health and well being. With her own core values and experiences reflecting in all the work she does, we delve into a conscious conversation about the space and power mental health holds in our society. Expanding from the core lens of being an ambitious woman entrepreneur, she wonderfully articulates her own journey driven by career, marriage, parenting and more. From power holding structures to financial independence, she helps deconstruct concepts of guilt, loneliness, female friendships and personal integrity.  Every theme we touch upon — be it masculinity, bullying or about having a yearly ‘Manifesto’ – is underlined by the sensibilities of what an empowered perspective really can do to move the needle towards better personal and collective mindset growth. "Deliberate intervention is a must for well-being"…and an Attitude Makeover starts here.
