It’s estimated that over 250,000 Australians are part of the gig economy, which includes side hustlers with 9 to 5’s and those working full time in the gig economy. So chances are many of our listeners have tried their hand at a side hustle or freelance work arrangements at some point.
Although gig economy work can provide greater flexibility and choices in your day to day work, it can be very unpredictable and uncertain, on both your time and money, which can lead to financial stress.
In today’s episode of The Australian Finance Podcast, we’re going to be taking a deep dive into the gig economy, which covers everything from ride sharing services like Uber to providing specific services for a fee, like taking on Airtasker jobs to assemble Ikea bookshelves or helping a small baking business with their social media.
Our guest today is, Michelle Grace Hunder, who is a live music photographer based in Melbourne, tours with Ruel, has her own photography courses, has published a book and has made a film, “her sound, her story”.

Helpful introduction to all things finance. Thanks for helping build my confidence in this area!
I’ve been meal prepping for over 10years now, huge batch of veggie curry on Sunday and each it for lunch and dinner the entire week, more than 5 servings of veg on a bed on lentils, healthy and cost effective! I also go for instant coffee, cost per use is lowest 😉
really enjoyed having a buyers advocate and mortgage broker on for this topics. overlapping tips and slight opinion difference. Fantastic!
Thanks for the consolidated lessons/tips....but I have to say Phillip just spend most of the time talking about his podcasts and his groups....wasn't much content here, which is disappointing because I was wanting to find a nice intro episode for a non investor friend. thanks for the podcast overall, but more content and less brand/name dropping.
You lost me when your guest said he likes his podcast guests to simplify information as if they're "talking to their mother". Yawn, if you're going to have dinosaur gendered speech like this, I'm just going to listen to 'She's on the Money'
Thanks so much for having me on the show, it's great to meet you and chat sensible long-term investing.
You guys said within the episode that you've discussed what's defensive and aggressive approaches and that you'll put it in the show notes but I can't find it. Can you pleas specify which episode you discussed it in? Thanks.
