Its crying time again. Our resident Outsider will be taking a nostalgic look at the last few episodes of this season, highlighting some of his favourite parts and comments, and setting his sights on the next season.
This man’s not for turning; but the Mat Salleh is getting back at all that talk that he’s gone native. This special episode is for all those other Mat Sallehs in Malaysia. What’s going on in the worlds of the ‘Others’?
From comic dubs to viral aspirations. The Mat Salleh explores the Internet as a platform for young Malaysians to express their creativity. He speaks to Ezra and Uma from “That Effing Show”.
Lord of the trash! It’s piling up; it’s getting worse. Recycling is not helping? Are Malaysians irresponsible, or is there just too much rubbish to handle? And can we do something about it?  Does the Mat Salleh have something up his sleeves?
Let me take you by the hand and lead through the street of KL. From architect Hijjas to the homeless of Chow Kit, the Mat Salleh continueshis journey pondering the imponderables: How did they end up there and what went wrong?
Should we stay or should we go? Last week our intrepid Mat Salleh spoke to architect Hijjas Kasturi who has contributed much to thecity’s skyline, this week he speaks to twenty-somethings with thoughts of leaving the country. He also speaks to resident property expert LimSoon Heng on how young people can tie themselves up in mortgages?
Richard Bradbury takes a trip to Rimbun Dahan and talks to Hijjas Kasturi – an architect that helped change the skyline. He’s designed the TM and Maybank towers to much acclaim. Mat Salleh talks to him about the transformation of KL as well as the restoration of traditional buildings.
A perfect start to a new season. The Mat Salleh regresses a little. Not all the way to that primal soup but to when he first came to our fair shores. His initial impressions of Malaysia are re-kindled by a trip to Langkawi and Alor Setar.
The Mat Salleh’s about to take a plane back home for Christmas, and finally finds the time to stop, breathe, and take a good look around. He ponders the art of doing absolutely nothing, privacy invasions via social networking, and life with an employed girlfriend.
While waiting for taxi-related bureaucracy to take its course, our Mat Salleh revisits living in Malaysia, cooking his first Malaysian dish, & going from silent comedian to The Great Dictator. Part 2 of his “Taxi!” drama will arrive next week— we hope.
Our Mat Salleh’s week was fine and dandy until he gets into a tiff with a cab driver. He wonders if the treatment is usual for Malaysian passengers. This is Part 1 of 2. Yes, it became a two-parter.
The Mat Salleh wonders if it’s Christmas already in Malaysia— and on an unrelated excursion, he discovers the Borneo Headhunters community. Is he the hunter or the hunted?
The Mat Salleh realises that his cluttered desk hints at a cluttered mind. Join him as he embarks upon a frantic cleaning spree of the mind, body, soul and desk.
The Mat Salleh sits back with a cup of coffee and his iPhone at the ready as he battles through a barrage of text messages from strangers asking him for money and also the dreaded credit card company. And no those two are not related.
Our Mat Salleh in Malaysia is struck down by a mysterious bug, has his eyes inspected by an iridologist, and finds out just how much Malaysian doctors love to talk - as long as you’re buying pharmaceuticals from them.
The Mat Salleh creeps himself out as he talks to Malaysia’s premier ‘Ghost Buster’, Arwin John, from the Malaysia Paranormal Research.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Or how I found out that I was being impersonated in China by a wedding planner. Matchmaker. Something like that.
How long would you take to get to know a town? Well that’s really subjective. The Mat Salleh continues his exploration of KL city and on the umpteenth time finds himself not being able to overcome his geographical oversight, eventually getting lost, yet again.
Our Mat Salleh caps of his week with a couple of A-list anecdotes as he dines Alfresco, takes a trip down memory lane dancing to ABBA, and pays tribute to the man who lived and breathed the iconic Apple logo.
Speeding faster than a Neutrino? Ability to record dreams? Sadly these are not abilities that our resident Mat Salleh has, but they are topics that he touches upon this week. He's talking a bit of science (was Einstein wrong?) and what to do when you manage to lock yourself in your own apartment (apparently this still happens). Oh and there's tom yam soup. Again.
