Homecoming: HBCUs vs PWIs (ft. Kadeem R.)

On this episode, we talk about HBCUs and PWI from the perspectives of those who started out at a PWI or a HBCU and ultimately ended up at a PWI for graduate school. The major takeway is to not speak on experiences you don’t understand. If you never went to a HBCU, don't speak on it. If you never went to a PWI, don't speak on it. In the end, we are all educated, gaining skill sets and getting our degree.  Disclaimer: Our opinions are our own.

Dealing with barriers and being your own advocate

The path to earning your degree can be a bit bumpy. Alot of it is learning how to advocate for your self so that you have everything you need to succeed. We want to prevent you from getting into a funk. The psychology term for it is "Learned Helplessness" where you don't have the necessary skills/resources to get the work done. Much of our episode centers around Emotional Intelligence and how to use its principles to get through this multiple year journey of getting that degree.
