Women have served in the military in a variety of roles in different states throughout history. Many countries currently allow women to serve as pilots, mechanics, and infantry officers in the military. In this episode, I'm joined by Alice Santos, a former paratrooper who worked for the Special Forces of the Portuguese Army.Her military career began as a paratrooper in the Portuguese Army's Special Forces. She was 1 of 7 women out of 98 men within her base at the time, As a female in a primarily male environment, she learned the value of self-discipline, self-confidence, and empowerment in overcoming hurdles as a female seeking to stand out.After a severe injury in 2005, she had to drop out of her dream career in the military. She worked as a General Manager in the hospitality industry for over ten years.
