We welcome the one and only Matt Chan to the Born Primitive Outdoor Podcast. Matt is an elite athlete, career firefighter, family man, and probably one of the more fit people on the planet. Matt was also a dominant CrossFit athlete from 2008-2013, but now focuses on getting more people fit with his company TrainForTheWin. This week we wrap up Aron's Wyoming Elk Hunt Series by having special guest Chris Horne on the mic. Chris and Aron became fast friends shortly after Aron moved to Wyoming, over their shared obsession with fly fishing. Chris and Aron spent much of the elk season attempting to local legal bulls, with Chris finally punching his tag first alongside Aron, and then came back in to assist on the packout of Aron's Bull. Chris also shares some hunting stories, including his journey with a strugglestick. Great time having Chris on and can't thank him enough for the friendship! Aron is back, fresh out of the woods from the second half of his September Elk Season in the Cowboy State. Aron went back in for Round 2, experiencing much the same as Round 1. Luckily, good friend Chris Horne arrived a few days later and they were able to seal the deal, and get Chris a bull during the start of the rifle season. Seems like action is starting to pick up so hopefully Round 3 does the trick for Mr Snyder.
We want to extend a somber reminder for listeners to do a Buddy Check this fall. Aron lost a really good friend while he was hiking his way into this hunt. So be proactive, make that call, you never know the impact you could make.
Aron is solo on this episode as he recalls his recent trip after elk in Wyoming. Alongside Chris Horne, and cameraman Levi Mayfield, they just spent 8 days in the Wyoming backcountry. No success yet but ready for Round 2!!!
