Patients in search of a miracle cure end up in critical condition. The race is on to find out what went wrong before more people get hurt. The trail leads back to a medical company with slick marketing and a charismatic CEO. And to a multibillion dollar stem cell industry where greed and desperation collide. Anaheim investigator Julissa Trapp is not like other detectives. She’s the only woman on the homicide squad, and a skilled chameleon: undercover cop in vice stings, crime-scene commander, patient confidante of killers. A master interrogator, she invokes her personal experience – and deepest griefs – as a tool to elicit confessions. When a young woman’s body is found at a trash-sorting plant, Trapp learns the murder may be linked to the disappearance of three other women in nearby Santa Ana. Trapp embarks on a dark journey that brings her face to face with a man who takes “a little piece of her soul.” From Wondery and the Los Angeles Times, listen now at wondery.fm/BadBatchDT

episode one just drags and sounds like a broken record. clearly for an audience 60 years plus... I would put more work in this comment but it's equal to how bad this podcast was ...

Desperately trying anything to get relief from pain only for the treatment to make them more unwell. A lot of larger companies should just think of the individual-if this was my mom how would I like her to be looked after. Someone’s mom is not a series of dollar signs. Someone’s mom could be someone’s best friend and carer at times. Innocent until proven guilty always for me. Just take care of vulnerable people please.

I adore the wondery podcasts they are so unbelievable professional and I love their backdrop music. I as a chronic pain sufferer understand the desperation at times that patients feel and will try anything to try and get some relief. So as a consequence my heart sinks when I think how vulnerable we are, when I hear of someone

I couldn’t keep the cord blood from my son because it costs $5000 to keep it but it was free to donate obviously 🙄 so I’d have to pay 5k to save it just in case my son or I needed it but it was free for them to take it to use on other people 😑

I subscribed to American Innovations based on the preview from this podcast. The episodes are from season 15, I think. Thee series is called "The Birth Control Pill" followed by each episode name.

It's so awful that Jen Crawford feels so devastated and so responsible for what happened, and the people ACTUALLY responsible are so much less compassionate. Bless her, this wasn't her fault. I wish her peace.

Great podcast, informative and accurate. It does bother me that no information was given about the formal training these people had. The main injector was a chiropractor, i.e. no formal training on sterile technique, injection techniques, or even embryology and hematology! Also, while the podcast emphasized umbilical stem cells and infected product, virtually nothing was said about bone marrow derived autologous stem cell treatments. This podcast isn't the full story.

So, to rehabilitate Liveyon's reputation after these near fatalities, Kosolcharoen throws a dinner and sales convention and charges $5,000 per person to attend. Kosolcharoen is shameless and the attendees who ponied up $5k are idiots.
