When those rules are broken, the Mogwai multiply and transform into a horde of gleefully destructive gremlins who treat Billy’s small town like their personal theme park of chaos. What starts as a cozy Christmas gift quickly turns into a battle against tiny, cackling agents of mayhem, forcing Billy and his friends to outsmart creatures wreaking havoc in Pennsylvania.
In this final episode of The Book of Boba Fett, “In the Name of Honor,” the Pyke Syndicate wages war on Boba Fett’s forces in Mos Espa, but Boba’s got backup: Din Djarin, the Mods, Black Krrsantan, and a very dramatic rancor entrance. There’s blaster fire, explosions, and a showdown with Cad Bane that ends with Boba proving old-school Tusken skills still work best. And just when things look grim, Grogu shows up to tame a rampaging rancor like it’s a sleepy puppy. David Harbour plays Santa Claus, who used to be a Viking, apparently, and he has to save a little girl and her family from a group of terrorists led by John Leguizamo, who take them hostage. It's violent (duh), bloody, and hilarious, and we're talking all about it!
In this episode, the second of The Mandalorian’s unofficial season 2.5, Din Djarin visits Grogu, and accidentally walks in on Jedi daycare run by Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano. He ultimately decides not to interrupt the youngling’s path while Luke and Ahsoka Tano discuss Grogu’s future. While Grogu is busy leveling up in frog levitation, trouble brews back on Tatooine. Cad Bane saunters into the newly christened Freetown like a dusty gunslinger, encountering Cobb Vanth and warning the town to stay out of the coming war. This supersized episode, celebrating our 3rd anniversary, revisits our second-ever episode as we discuss Cool as Ice! It follows Johnny, a mysteriously chill biker played by Vanilla Ice, whose strangely cinephile-related wardrobe alone could cause seizures. When his crew gets stranded in a small town, Johnny zeroes in on honor-student Kathy, whose life is about as rebellious as vanilla ice cream. Chaos, romance, and a lot of early-’90s fashion choices ensue as Johnny tries to win her over and help her family out of trouble, proving that sometimes the coolest thing you can do is show up, perform a guerrilla-style rap show, and say “lose the zero and get with the hero” with complete sincerity. After completing a bounty, he reunites with the Armorer and learns more about the Darksaber but is exiled from his covert for removing his helmet, and then trades in his old ship for a souped-up starfighter with a surprisingly nice paint job. Derrick's love for bad Lifetime movies and Eric Roberts has been well-documented, and this one is the third entry in the gloriously unhinged Lifetime thriller series starring Eric Roberts as the disturbingly charming Dr. Albert Beck. After narrowly escaping justice yet again, Beck becomes the target of his former victim Sophie, who sets out to expose and humiliate him. But the doctor isn’t one to take humiliation lying down, and soon the tables turn in a wild cycle of gaslighting, obsession, and melodrama. You knew you weren't getting out of Derrick's 40th birthday month without a Cynthia Rothrock film, and this one is a doozie. Tiger Claws is a martial arts action film starring Rothrock and Jalal Merhi as cops investigating a string of brutal murders in which victims are killed with a deadly tiger-style kung fu technique. Their hunt leads them to a mysterious martial arts master (played by the great and terrifying Bolo Yeung), whose deadly skills and mystical beliefs blur the line between training and killing. This week, we get into Derrick's love for Ozsploitation filmmaking with an Australian dystopian action film where society has gone off the rails... and so have the cars. A young man named Crabs takes his girlfriend to a drive-in movie, only to discover it’s actually a government-run prison camp for the unemployed and outcasts. Trapped behind electrified fences, surrounded by junk cars, junk food, and junk culture, Crabs plots his escape while everyone else seems weirdly content to stay. In "The Tribes of Tattooine", the best episode of The Book of Boba Fett, our hero gets an uninvited visit from a pair of Hutts who want his throne and they even bring their Wookiee muscle, Black Krrsantan, for extra intimidation points. Meanwhile, in his Tusken flashbacks, Boba graduates to full tribe member after pulling off a slick train heist against the Pyke Syndicate and teaching the Tuskens to fight for themselves. It's Derrick's 40th birthday this month, so we're getting into some of his favorite genres and we kick it off this week with a lo-fi crime caper, Red Rock West! This neo-noir thriller stars Nicolas Cage as a down-on-his-luck drifter who stumbles into a small Wyoming town and is mistaken for a hitman hired to kill a local woman, played by Lara Flynn Boyle of Twin Peaks. Seizing the chance for easy money, he takes the cash but soon finds himself entangled in a web of deceit, murder, and double-crosses, especially when the real hitman (Dennis Hopper) shows up. After a week off, we dive into the much-maligned Book of Boba Fett, which kicks off with Boba climbing out of the Sarlacc pit, only to be robbed by Jawas and enslaved by Tusken Raiders. Through flashbacks, we see his slow rise from half-dead bounty hunter to survivor earning the Tuskens’ respect. In the present, Boba tries to establish himself as Tatooine’s new crime boss, taking over Jabba’s old territory with Fennec Shand at his side. Leprechaun 3 finds Warwick Davis's iconic character in Las Vegas, where greed, luck, and neon excess are the perfect playground for his murderous mischief. When a pawn shop owner unleashes him, the Leprechaun goes on a rhyming, pun-filled rampage through casinos, leaving bodies in his wake as gamblers and grifters chase after his magical coin. Along the way, a college kid who picks up the coin starts turning into a leprechaun himself, adding a bizarre twist to the chaos.
