I am loving today's episode because it's actually a little interactive. The very best kind of episodes are, in my opinion :) Have you ever heard of sound baths? If not, don't worry-- I'm gonna play you a little sample by my incredibly talented guest, Sara Auster. She's a sound therapist & meditation teacher. Using a holistic approach to well-being with the transformative power of music and sound, her carefully crafted experiences allow sound to be used as a tool to access meditative states, support self-inquiry, cultivate deep relaxation, and inspire meaningful connection and change. She's been invited to speak about mindfulness and sound for companies such as Google, Microsoft and American Express. Her work has been featured in global media outlets including: The New York Times, Time Magazine, Vice, Quartz and Billboard Magazine and was named a top meditation teacher by Oprah Magazine in 2016. In today's episode we talk about... - What to expect in a sound bath - Why a sound bath isn't just meditation - How people with hearing loss can benefit - Most transformative experiences - How to enjoy a sound bath at home Plus, Sara let us grab a sample of her work to share with you! It's a good episode, friends. Enjoy! To hear more from Sara, find her playlists, & see where she's coming for live events, head to www.saraauster.com.
Today's episode is a little controversial, apparently! I didn't intend for it to be when I invited our guest, but when I asked the community for your questions for her, that's when I realized this was a touchy subject. Today I have Felicia Bender to talk about her style of numerology which she calls Practical Numerology. I got tons of questions but a fair amount of pushback from people saying this is BS or it's evil or it conflicts with Christianity-- all kinds of stuff.  Personally, I found this super interesting & fun to learn about! I didn't feel like it conflicted with my beliefs at all. I take these things lightly and approach them with an open, curious mind. If you can manage to do that, I think you'll enjoy this episode a lot :) We talk about... - What IS Numerology - How it's used - How to calculate your own Life Path Number - The significance behind seeing 11:11 & other numbers - And how to find out more if you're interested :) Enjoy the episode! We'd love to hear your thoughts on this one! Did you find it interesting? Fun? Or total nonsense? Regardless of where you stand, try to be respectful in expressing your opinions ;) To learn more from Felicia, head to her website: https://feliciabender.com/ Or find her on Instagram for more inspo: @feliciabender
I'm SO thrilled to be sharing this chat with Emily Nagoski. She has her Ph.D. in health Behavior, is a masterful Sex Educator, gifted speaker, and award winning author. She wrote the New York Times Best Seller "Come As You Are: Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life". If you haven't read it, you MUST. Today we're chatting about... - The one concept everyone should know that will transform how we think about consent & what our bodies "want" - The dual control model of sexual response - How to find your "on" switches and make sure the "off" switches aren't cramping your style (this will make sense after the episode, I promise!) - How to overcome shame around sexuality if you were raised in a repressive household - How to have more quality sex even when you have young children/have no time/are struggling in your relationship/have body image issues - How to keep sex amazing even in long term relationships - Plus 3 mini homework assignments Emily wants you to do! There's plenty more we cover, but I'll let you discover them on your own as you listen. Want more of Emily?! You can find her on her website (www.emilynagoski.com) & stay up to date on all her speaking engagements & find out when her new book, Burnout, becomes available. She's also on Twitter @emilynagoski and Instagram @enagoski.
How to Silence Your Inner Critic should be the title of a mandatory class in high school, college, and your first job orientation. We ALL struggle with keeping our inner critic in check, but not many people talk about it in the real world. You don't have to just "deal with it." Adrien and I are going to share... - our own biggest struggles with our inner critics - how we manage them - how to recognize a good push vs harmful criticism - the best creative ways to silence them Enjoy! *** For more Bad Yogi, head to www.badyogi.com And follow me on Instagram @badyogiofficial
This episode is unique. And it’s dense– in a good way. In the best way, actually. Today I’m talking with Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, a gastroenterologist and gut health expert. When it comes to gut health, “Dr. B” is my go to source and after this, he’ll be yours too. His Instagram account @theguthealthmd is filled with tips, research, & even recipes. Everything is science based, it’s free, it’s fun, and dare I say, it’s digestible 😉 But the best part about this guy is that he’s an actual doctor who graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Medicine and he’s not trying to sell you anything– he just does this because he believes in his message, and I thought there was something refreshing about his lack of agenda, ya know? Today we're talking about autoimmune disease prevention, what constitutes a good poop, simple solutions for common digestive complaints, and soooo much more! Body Positivity is such a loaded topic! I've been putting off recording this episode for a few weeks now because I really didn't know how to approach it. I figured the best way to approach this is to be sincere and explore perspectives besides just my own in the conversation, so that's exactly what we'll do. I'll talk a little about... - My own experience with body image & "positivity" - My personal interpretation of what the body positivity movement stands for - The Instagram interaction that inspired this episode - And I'll share some of YOUR responses & opinions (anonymously, of course) I received on social media about this topic Enjoy! Find more from me on www.badyogi.com Follow me on Instagram @badyogiofficial And don't forget to subscribe to the podcast & give it a good rating!
Adrien (also my husband) is here to drop some serious wisdom for any of you who hate your day job and want to do something else. I've also been the person who hated their job before so I definitely understand how depressing it is to feel trapped doing something you despise. Adrien's here for some real talk about... - How to decide when to make the jump - How to deal with the fear of failure - Does he ever get jealous of me being in the limelight - Whether there's room in the yoga industry for more teachers to "make it"- How he knew Bad Yogi would be successful Plus some fun questions you had for him like... - Making him speak some French ;) - What was his fave part of our wedding - Embarrassing nicknames he calls me (revenge for asking about the stuffed rabbit, lol!) - Which book he recommends the most to others- How he knew I was 'the one' Follow him on IG @thethibaud If you have a business & need a faster way to hire the right people, check out theceevee.com
Today's podcast guest is a friend and fellow entrepreneur, Jess Dang, founder of Cook Smarts! Cook Smarts gives you weekly meal plans, cooking guides and infographics and online cooking lessons, all designed to help anyone build a strong cooking foundation. Basically, it's a life saver for anyone who feels like meal prep and weekly menu planning is a GIANT pain in the ass. This episode is one part entrepreneurial inspiration, one part map for meal prep success, & a dash of how to maintain your identity as a mom and all your other titles. It's a good one, friends! Jess shares some of the best meal prep tips I've ever heard. Seriously, with all the blogs and articles about meal prepping on Sundays, you'd think we'd be able to get it together by now, but nope! Jess's tips are ones I've ACTUALLY implemented because they're that easy. They just make sense! You'll see... Find out more! www.cooksmarts.com Instagram.com/jessdangcs
We had an idea to do an episode where Adrien (my husband & co-founder of Bad Yogi) interviews me as a "guest." This was exceptionally hilarious and fun because as the person who knows me netter than anyone, his questions were GOOD. He didn't ask anything obvious, didn't give me any softball questions, and made me reveal a few embarrassing facts about myself that I didn't intend to, lol. In this episode we talk about... - The biggest mistake I've made with Bad Yogi - Advice for people wanting to do what I do - What I like most & least about the yoga community - Dealing with the fear of what other people think - What I wish people understood - How to separate ego from what I do - Weight loss ...and so much more than I'll type here! Have a listen, enjoy, and please subscribe & rate if you enjoy the episode! Find me at www.badyogi.com & follow me on Instagram @badyogiofficial.
I have a super inspiring story to share with you today from an unlikely source. I mean, it's not unlikely if you ask me, because I know this person, BUT it might seem straight outta left field for the rest of you. Matt is an American pro-wrestler, futurist, and bad yogi. YES, he totally has "bad yogi" in his bio! I did not throw that in there myself! He's a professional wrestler and also the Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion. He spent years in the WWE, traveling the world in total superstar fashion until he got let go & had to totally reinvent himself. I'll leave the rest of his story to be discovered in our chat here, but settle in because you're in for some major motivation today. Find Matt on Instagram @mattsydal or check out his wrestling school in Clearwater, FL at http://wwntc.com/

We're continuing our conversation about spirituality from last week, this time taking it out of our daily life and into our yoga practice. Let's answer the age old question: do yoga & spirituality go together? Can they be separated? There's a few questions I wanted to answer around this subject, so buckle up, friends! Let's talk this through!
The other day I decided I was going to have one of those conversations everyone tells you never to have. Everyone says you should never talk about religion or politics in polite company. And when I’m around people I don’t know, I agree! If you invite me to your house for coffee or Thanksgiving dinner, I would never bring this stuff up! But when I’m around people I do know and enjoy talking to, I love talking about this stuff. I don’t find it distasteful or controversial because as long as we can keep it open and non-judgmental even when we disagree, I think it’s good to talk about these things. So today's episode is around a sensitive subject, but one I think we can have a meaningful conversation here and better understand each other. This is the first installment of this spirituality series. In the next one we'll talk about how spirituality fits into yoga and whether yoga & religion/spirituality belong together or not. In the meantime, I'd love to hear your thoughts on all this!
I'm SO looking forward to sharing this one. My friend Micha (Kundalini Meditation Teacher) & I had such a great conversation about meditation. We chatted about everything from... + How to make meditation a habit + What the real point of meditation is + What we think of fake gurus + Practical meditation advice + 2 guided meditations you can do right now + That time one of us accidentally set an altar on fire (!!!) ... and so much more! Today’s episode is gonna get me into some trouble, no doubt. We'll talk about... - What is "sensitivity" & what do I mean by it? - How do we talk about controversial/potentially triggering topics without immediately being labeled as someone who has bad intentions? - My (somewhat) harsh opinion about sensitivity in our culture - My challenge to YOU
Liesel Teen, also known as @mommy.labornurse, is today's guest. She's a labor & delivery nurse turned blogger. I started following her a couple months ago for her super fun facts about birth & pregnancy. I LOVED her stuff on Instagram & later learned she had this course called Birth It Up which preps you for a natural delivery in a hospital. This was my intention going into birth, so I got the course (which is INSANELY affordable, BTW), LOVED it, & knew I had to have her on the podcast. I bought the course with my own money and she had no idea who I was. I reached out to her to introduce myself & invite her on and that was that, so all opinions are truly my own.  But a little more about Liesel... She's a labor and delivery nurse from North Carolina, and her page is dedicated to educating moms-to-be about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and motherhood! She uses her knowledge as a labor and delivery nurse (and as a fellow mom herself) to spread awareness and help mamas understand what’s to come. Whether you're currently pregnant, want to get pregnant soon or someday in the distant future, are the partner to someone who qualifies as either of those things, OR you're just fascinated by the magic of our bodies and want to learn more, this episode is for YOU. That's enough outta me-- let's turn it over to Liesel. Follow Liesel on Instagram for all her free tips too.
The Angry Therapist, also known as John Kim, is today's guest and is basically to therapy who I am to yoga. For some context, John is a licensed therapist, published author, speaker, and life coach. But he started a blog called The Angry Therapist as a place to be himself without a filter while he was going through a divorce. It turned into something people really resonated with because typically people don't see therapists as real people with real feelings. He didn't want to be that guy. He blogged about his shortcomings, revelations, and his views on relationships, the self help business, and the world. He found CrossFit, bought a motorcycle, and started coaching people in unconventional ways. I don't know if you've noticed this, but therapists are having a moment on Instagram. And when I was looking for an interesting person in this field to bring on to talk about important issues, I found a lot of people, but not a lot of INTERESTING people... then I found John and I was like OH! THIS is our guy! He's a lot more transparent than traditional therapists and doesn't put himself on a pedestal at all. We had a really interesting chat about relationships and after changing gears, how to build your purpose in life. It's a great show & I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  To find out more from John, follow him on Instagram @theangrytherapist and head to his website for more about his books, podcast, and services.

Thank you so much for this episode and to Dr. Nagoski for her work. I suffer from vaginismus and just yesterday found out about Dr. Nagoski's work, so finding this episode definitely feels like the universe calling. I have more hope, now, about my condition and my husband and I are going to get the audiobook version of Come As You Are so that we can listen together as an intimacy-building activity and hopefully a step toward recovery. I can't wait for Burnout to release, too! Thank you again, Erin and Dr. Nagoski.
