What do you get when you swap boxing gloves for bravado, upercuts for undercuts, and right hooks for killer punchlines? This April Fools' Day, the only blows being delivered at the Royal Yacht Hotel will be verbal. Thankfully, they're all in aid of the Jersey Employment Trust. White Collar Boxing events usually see brave business professionals stepping into the ring to trade punches, but this time, they're stepping into the spotlight. Eight aspiring first-time comedians will be taking to the stage for a sold-out White Collar Comedy night, proving that raising money doesn't have to hurt – unless a joke really bombs. With an award-winning comedian headlining the evening, and months of preparation behind our novice comics, we spoke to Kiley Henley from JET and experienced performer Dave Crossland to find out what it takes to turn total beginners into stage-ready stand-ups, and whether performing on April 1st is brave – or just foolish. ★ Support this podcast ★
